Chicago Persuasive Speech

According to The Chicago Tribune “Close to 3,000 people have been shot in Chicago so far this year.”In 2016 chicago homicide rate was at an all time high,last year there have been reported 762 people died from gun violence,”3,550 shooting incidents, and 4,331 shooting victims.”Hundreds of people have died from gun violence every year and also a portion of the murder rate is made up of innocent people that have also died from a firearm violence.Also in the united states the number of fatalities from a firearm were “33,594” according to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention.I believe we should ban the use of firearms because the number of people that die or get injured from a firearm keeps dangerously increasing each year.
People with mental issues or not mentally stable should not be able to own any kind of firearms.People that want to be eligible to own a firearm should be checked mentally and physically.There were many cases where a person that was not

mentally stable went to a public place and shot it up. One case would be when a man that was in the army got a hold of a firearm and went to Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport in Broward County, Florida, United States.while in baggage claim area he pulled a 9mm and opened fire and he fatally shot 5 people and wounded 6. A recent case would be when a man in texas went to a church and opened fire and fatally shooting 26 people.
A percentage of the deaths caused by guns are to innocent bystanders.last year in chicago lots of people were caught in the crossfire of gun violence.Most of the innocent bystanders were children that were outside at the wrong time.Most of the shooting were drive-bys or either someone was mistaken for someone else.Stray bullets are also another cause of innocent people dying from gun violence.

Some of the deaths that were caused by gun violence was dealt to small children.Having a firearm in your home can cause a great risk if you have a child in your home because a firearm can be accessed by a child.In many situation the child is playing with firearm without adult supervision and end up either wounding themselves or end up dead. According to CNN “Guns kill Nearly 1,300 US children each year.”Also when a firearm is easily accessible a child will often grab a hold of it and it could be a possibility that they can take it to school there were some cases where a kid took a firearm to school and opened

fire.
In conclusion I believe that we need ban firearms in the U.S especially in states with a high murder rate.we need to enforce more strict gun control law.we also need to enforce more thorough background check on people that want to own a firearm.there are many problems with our gun control laws like people not being mentally stable,a percentage of the homicide rate are innocent people also children can get a hold of firearms fairly easy and the outcome can be deadly.I predict if we make strict gun laws then the homicide rate will decrease and the amount of mass shooting will decrease aswell.This is why we need to be strict with our gun laws in america.
