My diet and nutrition intake is not healthy compared to my plate recommendations. My work and school schedule keep me busy throughout the whole day, leaving me with less time to eat a healthy diet. Because of my busy schedule, I don’t have the time to prepare healthy food or exercise. Most of what I eat is carbohydrates and in large portions either in the morning or later in the evening. My usual diet does not contain grains or vegetables, but I do eat a lot of fruits and proteins daily. My sodium intake is really high; I add a lot of salt in everything I eat.
My daily physical activity involves running with my dog at the park, 3 times a week. I enjoy running because it helps me get away from my busy schedule, reduce stress and spend time with my dog. According to Hill, Howlet (2013), “Poor posture is hard on the spine, interferes with breathing, and increases the risk of back pain” (p. 59). My work is very demanding and physically hard on my body. Now that I started school, I will cut my hours so I can have more time to take care of my health and diet. This will also give me more time to focus on school, and not stress over not having enough time to study. Another way I will provide self-care for myself is to plan ahead for healthy meals. If I prepare healthy meals and healthy snacks in advance, my diet will be better and I won’t run to fast food restaurants. Limit the amount of time on social media and using less technology is another thing I want to commit to next month. I use social media a lot and I think I could spend my time on more important things such as studying or relaxing. The less time I spend on technology; the more time I will have on making healthier choices for myself. I will do this by putting my phone away before I go to bed, this way I can relax and go to sleep without scrolling through social
