Student Ambassadors: Student Council And National Honor Society

The calendar on my desk is overtaken by the numerous clubs and activities that I am a part of. As an Executive Board member of both Student Council and National Honor Society, I help plan various volunteer projects, Homecoming, Paws for a Cause, and other events around the school and community. I was also a part of creating a new organization through Student Council called Student Ambassadors. This group helps new and transfer students integrate smoothly into Belleville West by acting as tour guides and mentors, ensuring that they feel comfortable and safe in their new school.

The team ended the 2017 season with a record of 28-8 as well as two tournament championships. Personally, I earned All-Tournament Team, Scholar Athlete Award, Memorial Foundation Scholar Athlete of the Week, and Blue-Collar Award. Outside of school, I play for Blue Steel Volleyball Club to prepare myself to play at the college level.
My junior year began by becoming a PALS Mentor in which I visit Millstadt Consolidated School to serve as a role model for an at-risk child during my lunch period. My buddy and I play games, talk, and eat lunch together to give her someone to look up to and confide in when she may feel like she is alone. My patience, compassion, and empathy allow me to easily bond with the children and form a connection with them. Maroon Committee, German Club, Basketball, Volunteer West, iLead, Renaissance, and Math Team on top of the formerly mentioned organizations. By having a role in a wide variety of clubs, I am able to learn how to handle diverse situations and issues; the knowledge that I gain through one role helps me to become a better leader in another. Through my involvement at Belleville West and my commitment to academic excellence, I have received various awards and recognitions such as the Young Women of Achievement Award, Greater Belleville Area National Youth Salute, Greeter at 2017 Graduation Ceremony, National Merit Commended Scholar, Student in the Spotlight, and 2018-2019 Illinois State Scholar as well as being named to Delta Epsilon Phi: German National Honor Society.
