My mission statement has not changed. I still feel the way about teaching as I did then. I want students to want to come to school to learn. As my education journey comes closer to the end, I have learned many strategies and techniques to help me accomplish this goal. Teaching can be challenging just a learning can be for students, making it as interesting and fun as possible will ease that in some way. I firmly believe when students have confidence in themselves they will succeed, I want to help build the confidence. I have worked with special education student long enough to see it only takes a like gain to bring a smile to their face. Sometimes climbing one step may seem as if they climbed a mountain, and I want to share in their accomplishments.

I come to Fordham University with expectations of completing my Masters of Art degree in Social Service. As a single parent, I have faced many challenges raising my special needs child. My innovation to help disadvantaged children with social and emotional problems encompassed me to continue to pursue a career in the Social Service Profession. This will increase my chances of being a successful Child Therapist. The same year, I also participated in another after school class, based on the PALs program that many other schools take part in. Our original goal was to support and help younger kids with their homework, but soon after the program began, we expanded and began doing many other things. I helped in food banks, cleaned up our school, designed school T-shirts, and put together and hosted our school talent show. My field experience for EDUC 2130 was done at Rabun County Elementary STEM camp. The camp and its instructors had the goal of increasing the student’s awareness, knowledge, and interest in STEM. The student age groups I worked with went from kindergarten to 5th grade which gave me a wide range of behavioral, moral, and developmental stages to observe. The teachers running the program used many of the techniques we have discussed such as whole class discussions, small groups, and observational learning.
I would welcome the opportunity to expand upon my application either through a visit to the school and/or at interview.
Two years ago, I embarked on a journey that would teach me more than I had ever imagined. As a recent college graduate, I was thrilled to finally begin my teaching career in a field I have always held close to my heart. My first two years as a special education teacher presented countless challenges, however, it also brought me great fulfillment and deepened my passion for teaching students with special needs. The experiences I have had both before and after this pivotal point in my life have undoubtedly influenced my desire to further my career in the field of special education.
The National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) has a mission that gives support to educators who teach special needs children by means of research, practice, and policy. They provide special educators national forum to promote their ideas and they give assistance to those who are preparing for a special education career. They encourage teachers to be lifelong learners through the profession development resources that they offer. NASET works to improve profession practice for special education teachers and to build public support for high quality special education programs.
Teachers are a very important aspect of children and adult learners’ lives. Educator professionals’ work is inextricably linked to the success of students, schools, and states. The shortage of teachers is increasing due to some having a lack of certification and being qualified. This paper will address the shortage of special education teachers, the shortage of teachers in rural areas, and other educators; also, how to recruit and retain teachers who are already in the teaching profession and what contributes to the decreasing numbers of teachers.
My name is Jomayra Andino. I am 33 years old and I live in the northeast section of Philadelphia. I have three children and I work for a non-profit organization in north Philly. I love reading and listening to music when I have some free time. I just completed English 098 and Math 016 during the summer semester. My goal is to graduate from CCP, and transfer to La Salle University to get a bachelor’s degree in social work. I hope everyone has a semester!
Have you ever imagined the world of teaching through the eyes of a special education teacher? It takes a unique person to educate children with disabilities. The career of a special education teacher is an interesting career, because you get to help children overcome obstacles and become productive citizens. The research will describe the career of a special education teacher, what is required to become a successful special education teacher, and the impact this career has on society.
When I graduated from high school I, like many students, had no clue what I wanted to do with my life. I thought that going to college, without any idea of what degree to get, would be a waste of money and time; so I made the decision to hold off on college. Ten years later, and after much deliberation and research, I found my calling to be psychology. The first step in becoming a clinical psychologist is to obtain a bachelor’s degree. It doesn’t have to be in psychology, in fact you can get an undergraduate degree in anything and then apply for a master’s degree in psychology, but I want to know as much as possible about psychology before I get into my Ph.D. By adding a minor in sociology, which is the study of human social behavior and its origins, development, and associations, I am hoping to obtain a broader look at why people are the way they are. A bachelor’s degree in psychology, with a minor in sociology, is valuable because I would like to become a clinical psychologist.
