Every community no matter how big or small can benefit from more people willing to make a change. Stand up for a cause by investing time and energy into it. We can volunteer our time to keep our streets clean. Also we can share our skills and knowledge and be positive role models. All of us have dealt with moments of loneliness and sadness, so be kind to everyone around you. We should all want to be engaged and active in our communities, and want to make difference. When you see something that bothers you, do some research on that issue. Part of standing up for what you believe in is learning to be courageous, organize events to raise awareness and educate others, or write a letter highlighting your issue to someone who governs your city, provincial government or your national representatives. Know where you stand and your opinion, you will be more inclined to talk about it. Discuss the issue with others, and share your ideas. You could also find a group to join …show more content…
Any wildlife in the area that come in contact with trash also risk injury, disease, and death. No matter the size of your city’s population or the square footage of your town, you will benefit your city government, your local residents, and visiting tourists when you maintain your streets. Furthermore, they say two heads think better than one. When different skills and experiences collide, eye-opening ideas and solutions emerge. When you share with others, it helps deepen your own knowledge and engrains what you know. New conversations and opportunities can arise just from that gesture, offering even more opportunities to grow. If you want to be seen as a leader in your community you must stand up and be vocal about what you have to
In the Rio Grande Valley littering is a big issue when it comes to animals and their habitats. Many individuals tend to throw trash on the streets and oceans when they go to beaches, for example South Padre Island. When people go on vacations, they always leave their trash on the sandy beaches and do not pick it up. This kind of action result in a bird confusing the plastic garbage for food and consuming it. Garbage is very dangerous for animals it can injure them and damage their digestive system which can sometimes result in death.

Getting everyone encourages their friends and family to help do the same we can make the world
Participating in the nationwide school walk out is a good first step, but there is more I would like to do, but where do you start? The quote by Alice Paul, “Those in power should be held responsible not only for what they do, but for what they do not do” can relate to everyone, not just people in power because how can one say they support something, but not do anything about it. Truly, it does seem worse when someone is in a position of power and influence where they could do something, but do nothing because it does not fit the public view or their reputation. If I am ever in the limelight, I would hope that I would do something for those who are oppressed if it be through raising money to help immigrants establish themselves or using my voice to speak
Sometimes people think that if they do not get involved, they are doing something right, but that is not true. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a famous black man who stood up for African American’s rights. He said a famous quote which is “The ultimate tragedy is not the operation and cruelty by the bad people, but the silence over that by the good people.” Which is translated to: The real problem is not by the bad people but by the good people who do not stand up for others. The problem is not always by the bad people, but by the nice people who think what they are doing is right when they are only making matters
Living in South Central Los Angeles is a challenge. You can't sleep at night without hearing gunshots, sirens, or the helicopters hovering over your house. You can't walk to school without encountering gang members or the smell of marijuana in the air. Where I live, there are very limited resources, an extremely high crime rate, and poverty. It is expected to be a highschool dropout, be imprisoned, or become teen parents, without an education, but I don't allow those expectations represent me. I want to be an example for our community and be the one to rise but bring my community with me.
"Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does." is a quote that comes from William James, a great philosopher. This quote is saying that your actions do make a difference, no matter how small, and no matter if you think they make a difference or not. Every little thing you do has an impact somewhere, on someone, and on something. Actions do speak louder than words, and you never know how far down the line those actions will be felt. Community service is a great thing to put time and energy into. There are a lot of positive impacts that are made by individuals who contribute to community service projects. There are many different associations and activities that one can volunteer for to help out the community. I have done many different
This has been something that has truly helped me grow as a leader in my different organizations. The most influential organization I am apart of is the Texas FFA Association. I am currently in a leadership position that gives me not only the opportunity to have my chapter looking up to me, but the entire state of Texas; the potential of about 112,000 students. Everyday knowing that number, I remain as positively impacting as I can for the students. There are many people who I am friends with through the organization and they are always reminding me how grateful they are to have me here for them when they need someone to express themselves to without judgement, and that's a great feeling to have. I have also learned how to advocate for not just myself, but others as well. Since my freshman year, I have watched our numbers grow just within our

My first year of junior high, (in our school that was seventh grade) I was not spending all my time trying to be popular like all the other people in my grade. I was just being me how I always had been. One day at I was sitting at the lunch table with a bunch of people I would hang around with sometimes. Some of them were talking about there weekends.
Plastic or paper, is a choice that people face when going to the grocery stores. Plastic bags are often the choice that is made. A controversial issue in the world today is the use of plastic bags. Plastic bags are used because of the convenience they give, by being able to carry several items at once. However, in the article, “Banning Bans, Not Bags”, Jennifer Schultz claims, “Plastic bags clog up local waterways, litter roadways, and get swallowed up by unsuspecting fish” (6). Plastic bags are used once, then are discarded or, littered all over the place. When they are littered all over they become problems for more than just humans. These plastic bags pose a big hazard for animals on land and in especially the ocean. Humans eat land and
Nowadays, more than half of the world population lives in cities. Urban populations consume 75% of the world 's natural resources and generate 75% of waste. Cities have become consumers of enormous amounts of natural resources and generating massive environmental
People should know the negative impact throwing away a water bottle or newspaper, purchasing meat from the grocery store or consuming gasoline has on the environment, and many do not. By informing society about how their decisions affect the environment, we can help save our planet and change our attitude toward the land we live on, the water we drink and the air we breathe” and truly show respect for the stuff that we depend on. The United States produces “about 8.25 billion tons of solid waste each year” (Russell 1). People do not realize the impact they have on our planet and the environment. When people throw anything in the trashcan, they are contributing to the destruction of our planet.

Trees absorb carbon dioxide, prevent soil erosion and provide habitat for all living organisms. Planting more trees to enjoy the fresh air created by plants and contribute to saving the earth. In addition, everyone ought to minimize the use of plastic bags which is very difficult to recycle and can survive in hundreds years. If a lot of used plastic bags are not handled property, they will cause tremendous consequences later. To reduce them, people should refuse to use plastic bags offered by supermarkets, instead, use long-lasting shopping bags and use paper bags or biodegradable bags. People also should use natural materials. Plant protection drugs and hazardous chemicals used in hygiene everyday are one of the causes of diseases such as Parkinson, cancer and diseases related to the brain. So why not use materials derived from natural and efficient utilization of the relationship between the struggle for survival in the wild species to control the pest.
