On January 28th St. John died as a martyr. He performed many miracles during his life time. When John was a young man he was not very religious. John was a sinner, he would not care much about Jesus and the Church. But one day when John walking on the shores of a beach he finds a stray dog lying on the shore. When he approaches the dog he can see that the dog had been physically abused and abandoned by the owner. John left but he felt guilty and came back to see if the dog was still there. While he was walking towards the dog he sees many people around trying to help the dog. John approaches and prays for the dog, then miraculously the dog wakes up. People around him were all shocked the dog had just been revived. Another miracle he performed

St. Sebastian was born in Narbonne, Gaul in 256 AD. He was a Christian saint and martyr. He was enlisted into the roman army under Emperor carinus to assist the martyrs. He was very courageous so he became a Praetorian Guard captain under Diocletian, who was unaware he was a christian. In 286 he was detected, Diocletian then commanded him be taken to a field and tied to a stake to be used for anchor targets. The archers then began shooting arrow after arrow at him.Miraculously, the arrows did not kill him. The widow of Castulus,Irene of Rome, went to retrieve his body to prepare him for burial , and she discovered he was still alive. She brought him back to her house and nursed him back to health. He then
"We begged God to accept our lives and our blood and unite them to His life and His blood for the salvation of these tribes."1 This quote gives a small window into the heroism and abandon in which St. Isaac Jogues lived out his call to evangelize the native people of New France (Canada). Driven by a deep admiration for the Jesuit missionaries of Japan and China, he sacrificially dove deep into the culture of those who he lived with. He did this so that Jesus would not not simply come across as a European savior, but as a universal redeemer who speaks to people in their own language, through their own heritage and traditions. Even after facing brutal torture at the hands of the Mohawks, St. Isaac Jogues persisted in spreading the gospel in Canada, trusting that through his sufferng God would bring about salvation.
Thomas kept his fate despite being alienated by just about everyone in society. He was an outcast near death with more reasons than most to abandon his faith in God. Throughout it all Thomas remained steadfast in his faith in God. When Thomas was at his weakest, he put forth all of his energy into prayer. Someone reading this would more than likely see the miracle performed by God and it would reaffirm their faith in God.

When Hughes was thirteen he attended a revival with his Aunt it was his turn to "see Jesus," his entire community and church all waiting expectantly for the moment when he was finally saved from sin. Unfortunately for Hughes, salvation did not occur. His fellow peers that he would be delivered, to Jesus convinced him. He was so caught up in the idea that when it did not happen, and when it did not, he felt like an outcast amongst his religious community. People crying, and praying for him at his feet, Hughes did not want to be the reason for all the madness happening around him. He stood up and acted as if his salvation had come to him, although deep within he knew it had not. "My aunt came and knelt at my knees and cried, while prayers and songs swirled all around me in the little church. The whole congregation prayed for me alone, in a mighty wail of moans and voices” (Hughes 111-112). Influenced by the wales and the cries, Hughes started to feel as if he was the problem, that something was wrong and it was up to him to fix it. As the congregation prayed for him alone, and his aunt cried and prayed by his feet, a wave of social pressure came to him at once. To stop the crying, and the constant praying there was only one thing to be done, although he knew he was never actually saved, he stood to his feet, and the religious community and church all rejoiced as they

During the 354 to 430 AD, St. Augustine served as a bishop in the church of Hippo and at the same time, he was among the early founders of Christian churches in northern parts of Africa. He was also a theologian and his ideas that were influential to the Roman Catholic believers and the Protestants. His journey to Christianity was not just a walk in the park. Augustine, in his early ages, began finding reality about the widely held pagan beliefs and sects in his life. He also practised a lot of immorality. He then confessed, about his evil life in the book Confessions, which up-to-date is rated as an extreme Christian testimony (Nicholson, 2018).
Within the gospel of Matthew, John the Baptist baptizes Jesus. Before he baptizes Jesus, he has been preaching within the wilderness of Judea. The description in the gospel of Matthew almost makes John the Baptist look like an untamed and wild man as his “…clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey” (Matthew 3:4, The Holy Bible, NIV). People throughout all of Jordan sought him to confess their sins and to be baptized the in the Jordan River. John the Baptist is the preparer of the way for Jesus as it was John who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah. “This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him’” (Matthew 3:3 The Holy Bible, NIV).
John Brown University, founded in 1919, is located in the Northwest Arkansas Metropolitan Statistical Area. Made up of the cities of Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, and Bentonville, the area consistently ranks as a top 10 place to do business and live. In addition to the main campus, there are three educational facilities, one located in Fort Smith, a second in Little Rock, and the third in Rogers. The university was named after John E. Brown Sr. an entrepreneur, evangelist, and radio broadcaster. Brown wanted to provide a quality Christian education to students who would otherwise be unable to afford college, a tradition that the university continues today.
Initially, Saint Augustine encountered the questions about evil and God’s power and goodness, but his solution was to resort to Manichaeism. The Manicheans preached that there is a God of light and a God of darkness. This, theoretically, makes perfect sense to Augustine as it rationalizes that the God of darkness creates evil, and the God of light has power over the domain of good. When introduced to Platonism he truly begins to understand the true reason for evil without dismissing the perfect good and power of God.
Slavery and plantation life in the British colonies were especially complex systems when compared to those in areas under Latin rule, and historically have played a large part in molding more modern lifestyles on the island. One can understand many modern social structures by looking into the history of Jamaica and how the large role of sugar and other plantations shaped the island into what it is today. By looking at the historic social structures on plantations in Jamaica one can begin to make sense of the rebellious nature and sense of identity that formed and led to the almost constant stream of rebellions and revolts that took place.
Whatever the cause of this apparent miracle is, it still motivates arguments and doubt in some people. Others listen or watch in awe. For me, this day made an astounding link among the familiar and strange. I hope to always see it as I did when I was eight years old and to remember it as a startling miracle and a blessing of our Lord God.
