How was everyone's spring break? Well, my spring break wasn't the best per se, because I didn't do much of anything at least during the week that is. I had Easter with my family on Sunday with us all eating our usual brunch food. My sister and I received our Easter baskets that were filled with the candy we chose and I got the book Me Before You by Jojo Moyes per request. We then went to church where I was forced to where a dress, but I didn't mind this time because was an okay dress. On Monday and Tuesday I spent my days at my at home where I did absolutely nothing. Although on Monday my mom thought it would be nice to visit the Central Library downtown where I spent an hour looking at books before finally choosing to leave with three. I loved visiting that specific library because of, of course, the books, but also the architecture of the building. Then on Wednesday and Thursday my …show more content…
sister and I went to my grandpa's house because my dad had to go back to work. The days we spent there were rather boring and we didn't do much besides watching tv. Although on one of those days, I can't remember which one, my grandpa took my sister and I to see Zootopia. I actually quite liked the movie and it exceeded my expectations, seeing as my expectations were really low. Now moving on to the weekend, which unlike the weekdays was very interesting. So on Friday, my grandma decided to come down to Milwaukee and go to Chicago with my mom, sister, and I.
We went to Chicago because my sister had been saving money to buy her own look a like American Girl doll. So went spent most of our time in that store browsing through the different outfits and accessories, though we did get to have lunch in the cafe. I also noticed while at the store that my childhood is officially ruined. It is ruined because American Girl retired my favorite dolls and even got rid of the books I had read as a kid. After all of our browsing, we walked all the way to the giant bean. My grandma had never been there so we absolutely had to go there. Then on our way back we stopped at a few stores, much to my displeasure. Finally we stopped at a candy shop and a cupcake shop to get a few treats before we finally went home. Also as an extra surprise my grandma decided that when we got home we would go see the movie Allegiant. The movie was okay if you think about it as just a normal movie and not a book to movie adaptation because it was nothing like the
book. Finally, on Saturday I had another interesting day. It started off with my family and I attending a conjoined birthday party for one of our family friend's kids who is also a close friend of my sister. The party was for Cassidy, my sister's friend, and Troy, Cassidy's brother. We ate cake, watched the kids open presents, and even had a celebratory silly string fight. We had a great time, but my mom and I decided to leave early to go to my aunt's house. We visited with Aunt Terri and I got to see my uncle who decided to come up from New Mexico, where he is serving in the Air Force. After all of this visiting, I had to leave and attend this event for my church's youth group. It was a movie night at Katie and Tyler, our youth leaders', house. We watched the movie Shanghai Noon and it was fun because the jokes may have been funny, but the comments all my friends made were what made the evening great. I had an amazing time despite being sat on once by former Burdickian, Ryan. Overall I had a great time over the break despite the majority of in being quite uneventful. Hope all of you had a great time over your break and have an amazing week.
I could write about millions of thing to you, but I would really like to tell you all about my summer break. Don’t get me wrong it was an amazing summer in all but, I just wish I had a little more time with my dad, and a little less time with work. My dad’s been in the navy for about fifteen years, I do believe. He’s been stationed in Maine, Louisiana, Ohio, and now, The Golden State, California.
Mary Wollstonecraft, a women’s rights advocate in the year 1792 summed it up perfectly when she said, “I do not wish them [women] to have power over men; but over themselves.” She is describing the fight within every woman in the Feminist Movement that began in the 1700’s and extended throughout the late 20th century. This powerful motion was a drive to address the debated issues of reproductive rights, domestic violence, maternity leave, equal pay, women’s suffrage, sexual harassment, and sexual violence. As time has passed, feminists have pushed extremely hard to gain equal rights and respect from their male counterparts. Unfortunately in today’s world, society still puts an emphasis on a women’s exterior beauty. They emphasize it in magazines, television commercials, and even the infamous beauty pageant. The industry of beauty pageants is growing rapidly, jeopardizing the continuous work of many women’s rights advocates, throwing away the continuing efforts for equal rights (Miss America, 2011).
How would you feel if your devoted dog was discriminated against based only on what he looked like? Canine breed discrimination is a real problem in today’s society in the United States. There is always an enormous amount of hype when one hears about a dog attack. The first thing people want to know is what kind of dog was involved in the attack. That breed of dog then gets labeled as “dangerous”, quietly forcing people to change their opinion on a certain breed based on an action of only a couple of dogs.
My mom had been going to school in Greeley and staying at my Aunt Margaret's house . She had been away for two weeks and wanted to come home for the Fourth of July weekend. My mom had suggested that I go back with her and visit colleges, shop, go to movies and just spend time together. I had been feeling pretty sorry for myself since she had been gone. I had been working alot as a maid and helping my dad run the house, I was getting very irritated with my siblings as I felt that I was the only family member doing my part to help my dad. I was really excited to have a week with my mom to myself. The whole ride over we were talking about what I wanted to do that week. Making plans and having "me time" seemed very important at the time.
James Baldwin’s works were influenced by the times in which he lived, as an African American writer he strove for equality and used his pen to work for civil rights through elements of his childhood among other aspects.
The trip included my mom, my best friend, her mom, and me. My spring break was being spent in Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is very different than New York making it an adventure seeing as it was my first time ever going there. Going to a new place or even somewhere you’ve been before means you’re going to see new things and try new things. That was particularly what got me so excited for the trip in the first place.
Today was my sister's birthday! We went to Animal Kingdom, Which had a really fun ride called The Legend Of The Forbidden Mountain, where you go up the coaster normally and drop backwards. I screamed really loud! After a while, we got lunch. We went to a restaurant in the park, where I had the best grilled cheese of my life. We spent a few more hours at the park and left at dinner time. That night, we had dinner at a really nice restaurant. I got steak and mashed potatoes and we left after eating for about an hour and went back to our resort. When we got back we went to our cousin's room and watched
It was nice hearing from both of you. We really enjoyed your holiday newsletter and the article written about you, Adam. Mazel Tov! You both are truly amazing and full of life, energy and passion!
We were going to the Bahamas because the Ole Miss basketball team had a tournament there. My dad and I woke up at 2:00 in the morning heading to Memphis. My mom and sister were already there so we had to pick them up first. We picked up my mom and sister and headed to the airport. When we got to the airport, we had to board the plane and took off. We landed in Atlanta and got some ice cream. Soon after, we got on another plane for the Bahamas! When we landed in the Bahamas, we had a 30 minute drive to our hotel, but it was worth it. After arriving at the hotel the, we put our bags up and started to walk around. That night the entire group ate dinner in a small conference room. I sat with the players, talked, and had fun.
Southeastern University is a private, Co-ed, Christian university. SEU’s main focus is to equip their students to be a next generation of leaders so that they can enter the real world as influential servants to their careers and communities. Southeastern university offers a plentiful amount of study programs, even the program I am interested in which is Human services. I selected this school First because it is a Christian college, and Second because of the programs of study. I chose to go to a Christian college because I grew up in a Christian household and because I believe in Jesus. I also chose Southeastern University because of the programs of study. SEU was one of the few colleges that had a program of study that I was interested in.
Wednesday: Allow students to tell you about their winter break. You may even want to share what your break was like.
On the morning before my sixteenth birthday my family was exited for the special trip we had planned. We packed the car, double checked everything to make sure we didn’t leave anything behind, and headed off to the airport. We boarded the plane, just in time, to Ireland. The flight was great, since we were in first class. After landing we rented a car and drove to our hotel, where we rested for the plans we had the next day. In the morning, my mom thought it would be great to begin the day with a trip to the famous Giant’s Causeway.
On the rainy Sunday leading into Spring Break, I had the honor of worshiping with this church and I must say that it was a remarkable experience. St. Mark’s Lutheran Church believe that the Bible is God’s own inerrant and infallible Word, and that it is the only rule and norm for Christian teaching. The church happens to be a member congregation of the Lutheran Church in Missouri Synod.
was, I had a date but no dress. So my mom and I went on a shopping trip to Plaza Bonita
Getting lost in a mall was something I was keen on doing. On that day I was on a field trip for my _ grade class. We went to McWane Science Center, it was one of the best places I ever been. I remember touching little sting rays and bamboo sharks. It reminded me of my most favorite place I the world, Mississippi Museum of Natural Science.
