New students Madison Williams (8) and Salma Hoxha (7) agreed to speak with me about their experiences applying into and attending Spence this year. I asked them a few questions about their transitions and how they feel about Spence so far. They reflected on the process of applying into Spence, saying that they had many tasks to complete before actually getting into the school. Both students agreed that Spence has a welcoming community that allowed their transition to be relatively easy. Their favorite things about Spence so far are the inviting and warm community making them feel comfortable and the fun activities and experiments done during classes. Opinions on the workload at Spence did not vary, both students saying that the workload was
similar to their old school and very manageable. Advice given about Spence’s workload by Madison is to do your homework and projects in advance so that you have time to edit and fix any mistakes. The two are looking forward to the freedom of Upper School, the eighth-grade play, and electives in Upper School. For new students applying into Spence, the advice they give is to try not to get overwhelmed by the number of tests, and know that Spence is a great school and they made a good choice. Another piece of advice is to look at the website and familiarize oneself with the programs at Spence, such as classes, sports, and the arts, to get you excited about possibly going to the school.
I genuinely believe that peer interaction is a vital component in the development of academics as well as character in which I have the skill set and experience to do so. Growing up in a diverse and culturally rich community exposed me to various personalities and constructed me to undergo everything with an open mind. My unique background will expand the boundaries of the Honors Program with the incorporation of my personal experiences. With my strong work ethic and my willingness to explore a vast scope of courses, I can be an integral influencer in peer-to-peer learning environments. My preparation for every course beforehand assures my ability to participate and contribute during each class. I am always on top of my workload which proves that I would be an active student in classroom discussions and have thorough development in my research opportunities. I will be the thermostat in this program by setting the emotional and personal climate and setting examples for other students with a vision that we will all strive for the extra mile inside and out of the classroom. My passion to learn and the dedication I hold to my studies exemplify the type of student needed in this program. I hold the ambition that is needed to be successful in the Honors Program at the University of Georgia.
“In preparing for your arrival on campus and the rigors of a Smith education, please consider taking steps to regain your academic momentum . by creating a reading list within your particular academic area this summer; by availing yourself of summer classes or tutoring opportunities; or by investigating the academic support services at Smith when you arrive.” (Hoover 2003, smith college)
My sixteen week class in English 111. I was really nervous about this class. Because English has never been my strong point. This class has hard, but fun all at the same time. I learn a lot from this class. Meanwhile, the first day of class you handed a paper with a question on it. “The first thing I want to say to you who are students is that you must not think of being here to receive an education; instead, you will do much better to think of being here to claim one.” Even though putting my all in what I have learned, claiming my education with hard work because using the skills of the meal plan, as we write to different audiences and learning to be a Critically thinker as I start becoming a critically-Literate Citizenship.
On September 15th at 2000, I had a counseling session with MIDN 2/C Jones (he asked that I not use his name) regarding his occasional absence from Morning Quarters Formation. I started the sit down session by first addressing the reason why I had asked to talk to 2/C Jones and why I thought it was important. I then asked 2/C Jones what his reasons were for sometimes not showing up to Morning Quarters Formation. 2/C Jones explained that he usually goes, but when he does not it is normally because he was up late working on homework the night before and needed rest. He brought up a supporting fact about how the Commandant keeps insisting that the Midshipmen need more sleep, which I agreed with him is true. I then asked him if he felt that formation was important or not. He began to explain why it was not that important to him, and then after he finished, I gave the reasons why it is important, especially as a significant leader to the 4/C in the Company
Stress is an important problem faced by many college students, especially first year students, and it can have a large impact on college freshmen. For example, according to Hirsch and Keniston (1970), about half of first year students do not graduate from college due to dropping out (p. 1-20). Also, David Leonhardt (2009) agrees that the United States excels at putting “teenagers in college, but only half of students who enroll end up with a bachelor’s degree” (p. 1). In addition, the level of stress seems to increase each year. For instance, the National Health Ministries (2006) claim that many college students have become “more overwhelmed and stressed” than the student generation of the last fifteen years (p. 2).
Despite reading, analyzing and even discussing Ethan Frome with others, I was never able to find any sort of meaning or lesson at the end of the book. To put the main characters in awful pain for an entire story, only for that pain to never be resolved or shown to have a purpose in educating the reader was perplexing to me. I’ve always been taught to seek out meanings and to learn from the stories I read, and the lack of a message in Ethan Frome made me feel as if there was no purpose in the story, and many critics have felt the same way.
Today’s learning environment has a wide variety of instructional and delivery methods. The student is the primary beneficiary because of this, moreover than previous generations. This case study will discuss my preferred learning styles and how they relate to the cognitivist and constructivist learning theories. It will also discuss how the online learning environment will impact my educational pursuit.
In that video I watched, Eric Thomas explains reasons why not to give and sacrifice things that ain’t really important. Eric talks about his life, his past life and his struggles in school. The video was a great to inspire others to stop being a little kid and actually become an adult. What he said is kinda similar on what’s my essay is about, not similar as his because everyone has different stories. He has been thru alot in his early life then later college has changed his life and also he’s a great motivator.

Some would say don’t judge a book by it’s cover, while this saying typically goes over one’s head. 1SG Anthony Bell Sr. was a man that people would tend to judge before they’d got to know him, including myself. Although he was one short man, that didn’t make him any less of a man or leader. Before I graduated, he’d instilled morals in me that I still live with today. Of course before he was my instructor, I judged before I knew him.
In the Critical Care setting where I have most of my experience, I have developed strong Critical thinking and good clinical judgment. These two are essential in this setting, as patients’ lives are in our hands. A nurse with both these skills can recognize symptoms and conditions act accordingly to prevent deterioration. In critical care one develops other great skills as well, to include intuition, strong assessment skills and anticipation. I believe these skills will make the transition to the APRN role easier. The reason is because APRNs rely heavily on strong assessment skills and clinical judgment to make an appropriate and accurate diagnosis. They must possess strong critical thinking and clinical knowledge. In the Critical care setting
At the beginning of the term I was faced with the challenge of earning 12 credit hours in my Psychology concentration, while at the same time fulfilling my Liberal Studies literature criteria. I feel I met my goals through the broad, yet focused range of sources I read, total pages written and final project. As one of the options given in the syllabus, I chose to keep an online study journal instead of the reflection letters http://studyjournalfall2013.wordpress.com/.
My final week at the antenatal clinic was quite interactive with the patients this week, form education, to head to toe assessment and even assessment of the fundus. The patient is 26-year-old G3P2, C.N is 38 weeks & 3 days into her pregnancy; who been having contractions for the past two weeks. Upon assessment C.N fundus height (41cm) was higher than her gestational age; due to this, the Nurse Jeffrey recommended her to see the doctor.
Imagine it is one’s first day in high school. Standing in front befalls the entrance way to your new future, thinking of what lies ahead from the perspective of a middle school grad. One would perhaps have mixed emotions as to what to expect. Observing the new students around the corridors, it transpires as if they are dragging their feet to progress inside, for the reason that they are fresh from the blissful summer days; they are in exchange, yet again, to the reality of school homework, projects, reports and tests. Some have queries and doubts in their minds; what does one expect of themselves getting into a high school life such as this? “What remains in store for me, I wonder…” “This school year is going to be subsequently much tougher
The very first book in the historical books is Joshua. The name Joshua means, “Yahweh saves”. The book Joshua, continues with the story of the Israelites told in the Pentateuch. The book of Joshua begins right after the death of Moses around 1406 BC. God chose Joshua to lead the Israelites across the Jordan river, to the land of Canaan. God gives them a military and his word to never leave the Israelites. Joshua sends two spies into Jericho, where they meet a woman called Rahab. She protects the two spies as long as they protected her and her family. The Israelites cross the Jordan River carries the Ark of the Covenant. Once they got across, they grabbed 12 stones representing the 12 tribes to remember the goodness of God. Joshua encounters a man who is the commander of God’s army. He continues his march through Jericho for seven days They destroy the city to the ground with leaving no survivors except for Rahan and her family. The next city of attack was Ali.
