Why is it that in every classroom, there are always some teenagers that are shy or prefer to keep to themselves? It is not bad to not speak up every once in a while. Everyone has those days where everything just goes wrong. But there is a difference in being quiet for a day or two because the teenager got scolded by a teacher in front of the class than being quiet because they are afraid of speaking up. God or whoever made us, has given us a mouth and a voice box for a reason. It is to eat, and to use as a tool to help us express how we feel. Teenagers nowadays are using their mouths more to eat than as a tool to express their emotions, which can lead to regretful outcomes. Therefore, a teenager’s greatest challenge is to speak up when it may otherwise seem impossible. Therefore, a teenager’s fear is speaking up because they are afraid of their peers’ judgment, the possibility of being bullied, and being falsely misunderstood from their peers.
Firstly, when teenagers speak up, they will not be falsely misunderstood from their peers because they know the real them. For example, in Penelope, a movie that relates to being falsely misunderstood from their peers, shows the protagonist, who has an unattractive nose but is rumored to be a monstrous and evil person. She feared the media and everyone would judge
her because of her face, and so she could not bring herself to speak up and tell everyone what she was really like. It was towards the end of the movie, when she had enough of the rumor stating false claims on her that she finally decided to speak up. Not a single person judged her badly because she was sweet, funny, and smart. Furthermore, she made friends that now know her inside and out, and not just based on...

...ople cover their faces because they feel guilty or hiding the fact they did the crime. So, if teenagers speak up, they will not be assumed guilty because they are telling their peers what they know and are not doing anything suspicious.
Teenagers in the twenty first century fear speaking up because they are afraid of being falsely misunderstood from their peers, the possibility of being bullied, and they fear their peers’ judgment. So asking a teenager to speak up when it may otherwise seem impossible can be the greatest challenge to them. But, it’s through speaking up where the teenager takes a stand against bullying, give a different view of themselves to their peers, and not getting falsely accused of an act. Speaking up is a strong foundation a teenager needs to master not just for themselves but others around them too. Try speaking up and see what happens!
Nevertheless, the girl screeching in horror of her own reflection is not the only teen, who talks about, each and everything they despise about themselves. Furthermore, this girl relates to Charlotte, in the book Girl In Pieces, which is about a young 17-year old girl that was so insecure that the cuts that were imprinted on her wrist, she was determined to hide them. She made such an effort to look somewhat normal that she had to wear long-sleeves even when it was scorching hot outside. She was so insecure about herself, which caused her to suffer on the inside. This is the problem, teens suffering because of their insecurities.
What can you learn about adolescence by watching five very different teens spend Saturday detention together? With each and everyone of them having their own issues weather it be at home, school, or within themselves. During this stage of life adolescents are seen as rude, disrespectful, and out of control. But why is this? Is it truly all the child’s fault? Teens have to face quite a few issues while growing up. Adolescence is the part of development where children begin push back against authority and try to figure out who they are or who they are going to become. Therefore, we will be looking at adolescent physical changes, their relationships, cognitive changes and the search for identity as depicted in the movie The Breakfast Club (Hughes,1985).
Adolescents under the age of eighteen are too young to stand trial and are not fully aware ...
“In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” Martin Luther King Jr. knew it was better to speak up than to stay quiet. This is a lesson that needs to be taught throughout both middle schools and high schools. All around the world, suicide rates are going up, and most of these cases relate back to bullying. The children often do not say anything because they are afraid the bullying will only get worse. When nothing changes, they are driven to suicide to relieve the pain that they are feeling. As Marge Piercy examines in “Barbie Doll,” students are picked on for being or looking different than others. No matter what type of bullying it may be, it hurts people more than they are willing to let on. All forms of bullying, whether it be in schools, physical, verbal, or online, have an impact on teen suicide ideation.
The article ‘Kids Are Kids Until They Commit Crime’ by “Hey, they’re only kids. That is, until they foul up. Until they commit crimes. And the bigger the crime, the more eager we are to call them adults.” We are eager to prosecute juveniles as adults because it's quick and easy. Just because it's fast and easy doesnt mean its the right thing to do. “We’ve created this image that teenagers are something to be feared,’ said Dan Macallair of the Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice in San Francisco.” Teenagers are always made out to be viewed as villains. But they aren't, they are just moody beings that are going through a lot of
Ultimately, as a teenager lies they use them lies as a way out of something big or small. Most teenagers lied to cover up their tracks, get out of something they don’t want to do, or to protect another person. How would the world will be if it was full of lying
In all of our years in school, we, as students have been taught to ask questions and expand our thinking. There are no such thing as stupid questions and we have grasped the idea of self- expression. Students , being teenagers, are the most unstable and emotional of the human subspecies and fin...
...what we want to be when we grow up. We never thought of how hard it would be to be accepted by one another. Sometimes you may not like someone, but they may help you reach the top. When we see people with less, it is hard not to help them because you feel responsible. Some people may seem nice and innocent, but everyone has a part in peer cruelty. No one is innocent of bullying. Some people may say that adolescence is about fitting in, but if you try to be your own person, then some people may except you and others may not.
“ I might say something very cutting and snotty-- instead of socking him in the jaw.” This quote relates to many teens, because they
“Remember always that you not only have the right to be an individual, you have an obligation to be one.” – Eleanor Roosevelt. These are some very wise and empowering words, I must say. I believe many teenagers in today’s generation are most of the time wearing a mask. A mask that is made up of what the world wants them to be, a mask that they think may protect them from not allowing others in, a mask that was built from peer pressure, a mask that was formed from bullying. There’s always a story behind someone’s mask, as I call it. Most of the time teens nowadays are afraid to be themselves, to be individuals, due to the way they think people will perceive them. I do have to say though, that those that have ripped their masks away are the ones that have truly become individuals. Of course,
Teenagers cannot achieve their roles in the future though, if they do. not have the confidence to do so. Pressures put them down, stress. demoralizes them, and strain takes away the confidence they need. the competitive world.
Bullying is an issue that has been around for decades and is something that can affect everyone, no matter what his or her age is. Even though bullying has changed over the years from being physical abuse and harassment that happens on the playgrounds of schoolyards to tormenting over the Internet. The same groups are still affected namely adolescents. Statistically about 30 percent of all teenagers in the United States are bullied in one-way or another (“Teenage Bullying”).
Bullying can be seen as either pure discrimination against teens, or as a plea against the rough life at home. Some people decide to not say anything because they just feel like it is a waste of time. “I was bullied because of my race, I am Asian, and they used to make me fun of me in class, and the teacher didn’t even say anything and laughed along with the class” (Tiffany). Whereas on the on the other side, you have teenagers who bully to get the stress out from being abused at home. No matter the reason, bullying is not okay, and that is what I am trying to get across.
Myths of adolescence are perpetuated because adults do not spend the time and effort learning about normal, expected changes during this period. It is much easier for us to put a label on people rather than to try to understand them. The teen years are truly "high speed, high need" years. Here are some concepts of conflict and some areas to look out for.
Bullying can also be considered as a major problem in the teenager bracket. This can occur in any social environment not just schools as mostly portrayed. Bullyi...
