Social media is a vast concept that encompasses multiple pros and cons; however, the question at hand is what does it do for ethical leadership. Ethical leadership can be described as leadership that is driven by ethical beliefs and values. I believe social media has the ability to hinder and help ethical leadership in the following aspects: providing connectivity, giving access to anonymity, and globalizing voices and the freedom of speech. Social media provides a way for everyone to connect to each other and everything else around us from the comfort of our homes. This is an aspect of social media that helps ethical leadership because it gives the natural leaders of the world to connect and share their ideals with a grander audience. People have the ability to share and repost the thoughts of others and when these thoughts are positive and beneficial more people can be affected. If used in a positive manner, ethical leadership can be helped. Depending on what ideas you share, it is possible for people to voice their disagree but it wont lead to confrontation like real life situations can. However, online disagreements can also hinder ethical leadership because people are bolder on social media; thus, promoting ideals that are against ethical
In my opinion, social media is a way to bring the world closer and an assertion of consumer choice can be used for promoting issues that matter. A human rights activist can make an unknown story reach hundreds of thousands of people by the ‘simple click of a button’.
Specifically, six themes regarding ethical leadership emerged from the study. Survey respondents from all societies prioritized these six traits as necessary for ethical leadership. First, ethical leaders are accountable. They abide by rules and regulations and take personal responsibility while holding others accountable. Second, ethical leaders have consideration and respect for others. They are approachable, treat others with respect, and demonstrate empathy. Third, ethical leaders are fair. They make objective decisions and do not show favoritism. Fourth, ethical leaders have a strong character. They are sincere and they lead by example, demonstrating integrity and courage. Fifth, ethical leaders have a collective orientation. They promote teamwork and collaboration while protecting the interests of the company. Finally, ethical leaders are open and flexible. They share information, communicate effectively, and are open to diversity (Resick et al, 2011). Though cultural dimensions affect leadership practices and expectations, these attributes and behaviors emerged consistently as the requisite traits for ethical

Ethical leadership organizational ethics and socially responsibility are inseparable (Johnson). Leadership is not a inherited gift or family heritage; it is not a degree from an ivy league graduate school. Becoming a leader is an intentional process of growth that must be lived out experientially (Mullane). Ethical leaders demonstrate three distinctive characteristics, knowledge, action and character. Leaders have to have the ability to say “yes” or even “no” to a never ending series of challenges. A leader needs to be able to define their values, character and leadership style. When accepting the role of leadership you become encumbered by ethical issues and concerns. .
Affect Ethical leadership is leadership that is directed by respect for ethical beliefs and values and for the dignity and rights of others. It is thus related to concepts such as trust, honesty, consideration, charisma, and fairness. Ethical leadership is leading with a sense of trust and values. As an ethical leader, my goal is to set up a sense of trust and transparency with colleagues and direct report and ensure everyone is treated with fairness, dignity, and respect. This type of leadership allows colleagues to trust my ability to lead and encourage active participation and engagement in the workplace.
Moral leadership is based, to a greater extent, on the authority, not on power, the sources of which is coercion and punishment and its strength depends on the magnitude of these parameters. If we talk about the power, there is always the opportunity to buy or inherit it, but the authority is rather an intrapersonal entity, and the only way to get it is to earn by demonstrating the values being proclaimed in your behavior. The main mechanism of the influence of a moral leader is identification. Receiving a "credit of trust," the leader becomes an object of imitation for the subordinates who actually copy his behavior, launching an identification mechanism that takes the form of the desire to be like his leader. The influence of the moral leader lies in the ability to create, set and broadcast the standards of highly moral behavior. The identification with such a leader allows the subordinates to internalize his values ( i.e. to absorb social norms and assessments). The uniqueness of a moral leader lies in his ability to convey the values to employees at emotional and behavioral levels, to "materialize" these values.
