You and your friend are at a restaurant and your friend makes a mess with her drink. Your immediate reaction is to take a picture or video and put it on your story or send it to your friends on snapchat. Or maybe actually help them clean up the mess. Snapchat is a social media app that lets the users send pictures and videos to other users for 0-10 seconds and then the image disappears. It also has a feature called your “story” where all the other users that you are friends with can view the picture an unlimited amount of time for 24 hours and then the image/video disappears. Not only is it used as communication, but also to capture moments, share news, and even now, to sell property. From a small little app, snapchat has grown to become something …show more content…
Bobby Murphy, Evan Spiegel, and Reggie Brown released their idea in July of 2011 as a iOS app called Picaboo.. Reggie Brown realized that there could be a lot of potential in this app and wanted 30 percent equity and his name on the technology patent. The two other founders didn’t agree with that because Reggie didn’t do much in the process. So, they just kicked him out from the company. A month later, Evan and Bobby changed the name to Snapchat. It didn’t take long for the app to become popular and to become noticed by big investor names such as Lightspeed Ventures (Colao). In March of 2012 Lightspeed invested $485,000 into Snapchat. In May, Snapchat was processing about 25 pictures per second. By October of that same year snapchat processed about 231 pictures per second (Gallagher). By Winter of 2012, Snapchat was brought to Android and the popularity grew even more. The popularity grew so much that by June of 2013 Snapchat was worth $800 million. One of the biggest add-ons to snapchat occurred in Fall of 2013: Snapchat stories. Teenagers loved this and it made snapchat even bigger. What really helped make snapchat so popular was the help of teenagers. Snapchat became really popular for that generation because it was the one form of social media that parents hadn’t started to take over. Facebook was once popular for the teen …show more content…
There are so many different things that Snapchat thinks about adding or getting rid of. Also just the potential of what snapchat can do shall change in the future. One feature that Snapchat plans on adding is that you will be able to view “stories” for events in the area that you are located in. Another feature that snapchat is considering the 360-degree video. This is when someone can view a live video from wherever and see it from 360 degrees. Another thing that Snapchat is considering is Augmented Reality. This is when someone captures an image and someone is then able to see it to where it looks 3D. One last thing that Snapchat is considering is being able to make friend groups. This is somewhat like what you can do with group messages. This allows the user to put a group of friends together in one section with a certain label. Besides being an app just to send pictures back and forth to one another, Snapchat possesses other interesting ideas. Something new that Snapchat is really considering is adding picture processing. This would be when you take a picture of a couch, Snapchat would then process it and sink it to Amazon and Amazon would then show relatable items that are available to buy. Basically you can buy something through taking a picture (Rehwald). Businesses also use snapchat to advertise new products they have. Businesses can have customers become friends with them on snapchat and then the business can post
In conclusion, Evan Spiegel is one of the youngest, most successful people of our generation. Snapchat will only continue to grow as it adds new features to the application every so often. As a result of that, Spiegel’s net worth will continue to grow along with the number of installations of

Kendrick is a very great artist that has respect for his fans not one time did I see him disrespect them in anytime of way. He believes that everyone should be treated the same, he is a big fan of Tupac that’s one person he really looked up to. His music can catch a lot of listeners attention, he just has, that effect with his music. Therefore he enjoys writing and putting his thoughts on a piece of paper, sometimes he just freestyle off the top of his head. To me he is the best lyrical rapper out right now because his music is based on real life facts just like how Tupac music was, so that’s how they are kind of similar to me that’s just my opinion.
Throughout the world there are hundreds of different cultures, religions, and customs. Each and every culture has a guideline of what is acceptable and what is not. Tattoos are still, to this day, a topic that is both, frowned upon, as well as, admired. There isn't a definite answer as to when, exactly, the first tattoo was created and acknowledged as such, however there are tons of different cultures around the world where tattoos began and were passed on to surrounding cultures. Tattoos can be found on Egyptian mummies, found in their tombs, Japanese and Chinese people, Sailors, and even Otzi, the iceman, dated back over 5,300 years ago.
Throughout the nation catastrophes occur on a daily basis; however there are a few catastrophes that have taken national precedence and left a traumatized nation. Most usually these catastrophes are an act of terrorism. Michael Nelson (2010) describes the nature of such terrorism catastrophes as disconcerting, unanticipated and that unnerve “the country’s sense of safety and identity” (p. 20). When such “a traumatic event results in the death of civilians” and “calls the nation’s institutions or values into question” the nation as a whole looks to their leader, our president, to offer solace and calm through a responsive speech (Campbell and Jamieson, 2008, p. 102). In Presidents Creating the Presidency, (2008) the authors have labeled these speeches as a national eulogy in which they usually occur at the sight of the
Snapchat has around 30 million active monthly users, with many being in the 18 to 24 year age range. The ‘snap’ what Snapchat calls its private messages is derivative of the SMS text message and instant messaging applications. One of the most unique things about Snapchat is the ‘self-destructing’ feature for phot...
Now now, I know that it might not seem like an important topic to ponder over, but with the easy access to a camera on the iPhone, I thought it would be great to share some tips and tricks on the iPhone camera since not all of us own a professional camera or even have the time to head over to Martin Hall to check one out. I would have to say, the iPhone camera is one of the best invention since sliced bread. HAHA. Ever since the great invention of the iPhone camera, iPhonegraphy (iPhone-photography) is now commonly used to take photographs compared to professional cameras and even a compact digital camera.
The invention of Snap Chat was literally an accident; two measly college students got bored and that’s why they invented Snap Chat. This app has revolutionized photo taking to a whole new level. In this paper I will talk about, who invented Snap Chat, how Snap Chat became popular, why teens use it and how Snap Chat influenced our culture.
In addition, the app offers users an ability to customize the image using filters. The purpose of the filters is to turn a mobile photo into an artistic-looking image. The name was derived from the combination of “instant camera” and telegram. According to an article published by Mikaela Rakos, Instagram started with “one million monthly users” (Rakos 2014). In April of 2012, the company reached 30 million users. As a result, Facebook noticed the growth and bought the app for one billion dollars (on April 9, 2012). From that point on, the usage of Instagram has gone up exponentially, reaching 150 million users in 2013. Instagram’s growth is largely due to the Facebook purchase. The company was listed in Time Magazine as “one of the top 50 apps for Android” and a report by Global Web index found that Instagram was the fastest growing social
And not only is this competition going to continue, it will increase as new technology is discovered. What is in store for the future? No one will now, he said. However, some of the latest futuristic ideas that will soon be upon us are: television screens soon accompany the telephone, so that the caller can see who he or she is having a conversation with. Also, having all of the copper wire replaced with fiber optics will greatly increase the telephones capabilities.
“Hey, Charlie: which photo do you think will get me more likes on Instagram?”. “Hey, Charlie: we need to take a Snapchat story right now to show everyone we’re here!”. “Hey Charlie: don’t post that

...y, but at the same time those receiving the image have the ability to screenshot (the act of taking a picture from one’s phone screen), and keep or share that image with others. Sexting in general is a problem that many teens face, and with the use of Snapchat as a form of social netoworking the problem seems to be only growing in severity (Bromfield, 2013).
Self-awareness is not about reading a book or attending a course. Self-awareness is a journey, and it takes practice. It’s like a muscle that becomes more effective with time and effort. It gives us mental strength as opposed to physical strength. We are constantly changing and adapting to the multiple external forces around us and to our individual experiences. The more we learn to be aware of, and understand, our reactions, thoughts, and emotions, while also keeping in mind our values, the more we can become the best we can be and the more successful we can become.
