Should Students Leave College Students To Leave School?

It’s time again when the seniors are getting ready to figure out what classes they need to take to get all their credits to graduate. They’re running around all crazy, freaking out about if they're going to get accepted to the college of their dreams or if they can even afford college. The last thing they need on their mind is taking extra elective classes that they don’t even need. Seniors that have all of their credits to graduate should be able to leave school when they are done with class. Texas requires that students accumulate 26 credits to graduate from high school. There are a lot of schools that have a program for seniors to leave school early. I strongly believe that our school could benefit greatly from a program such as I am about to describe. This program would be in the hands of the counselors, and it would be up to them if a senior is eligible to leave school early. The senior would have to be passing all of their classes and have all of their 26 credits. They can not have been in AEP more than once and their record can not be too atrocious. If the student only needs 2-3 credits they are still eligible to leave early as long as there grades are in good shape. The earliest a student is eligible to leave is at 1:30pm, because most schools requires you to attend at least 5.5 hours of school hours a day. If the school were to follow these guidelines then, I believe our seniors as well as other students will become more successful in school. There will be those certain students will get all their credits and they make fairly decent grades so they will get to get out early, and they will abuse this privilege. But like stated earlier, the counselor decides if the student is fit to be released early. Another flaw is that a student may feel that they deserve to get to leave school early because they almost have all of their credits. But they are not fit mentally to leave campus early, or their grades are keeping them from leaving early. Then they get mad, and their parents get mad and the school may be forced to either let them be dismissed early or the school board may be forced to terminate the program. Which may have of been the reason that we no longer are able to leave campus early anymore. But that's why the school has a very good school board and a strong support
