All through high school I thought about what I would do for my senior trip. I knew I wanted to be with my closest friends: Katie, Grant, and Madison. I wanted to do something I have never done before. It just so happened that a cruise was something we all could experience for the first time. We asked a lot of our classmates to go, but it ended up being just us three, which was a good thing. Once it became official we counted down the days until we got to walk on Cozumel, Jamaica, and Cayman Islands’ beaches. Our first stop was Cozumel. We booked an excursion, which was what you did off the boat where you could experience the island, and where you were assured that you would not get left off the cruise ship. Our Cozumel experience was an all inclusive beach day. All inclusive meaning that your drinks and food was paid for. The water was not very clear because a storm had hit sometime that week before. However, it did not stop us from getting in the water, swinging in the water hammocks, and jumping off the water trampoline. Vendors were everywhere trying to sell us anything and everything for …show more content…
outrageous prices, which was what we expected but still kind of frightening. Cayman Island was our next stop.
As if sailing across the ocean wasn't gorgeous enough, it got 10 times better once we arrived to this island. The water was crystal blue, and I could see my pink pedicure on the bottom of the ocean even if my feet were 6 feet deep. We booked an excursion to swim with stingrays, and spend the rest of the day on the beach. Swimming with stingrays was something that I never wanted to do, but ended up being an experience I'll never forget. Stingrays feel like sandpaper on the top and a baby's bottom underneath. The amount of fear that was racing through my entire body was indescribable, along with the adrenaline going through my veins. The time that we spent on the beach was spent in the water, and being amazed by the large Iguanas prowling around us. The reefs in the ocean made this beach the most gorgeous view I have ever laid my eyes
on. Jamaica was not making me crazy, but it was a great experience. Our excursion for the day was hiking to the top of a waterfall and a beach resort. We hiked a beautiful waterfall that was so freezing it was like I was walking through ice. Once the hardly bearable waterfall hike was over, we went to an all inclusive beach where they served use jerked chicken, rum punches, and some drinks out of bamboo sticks that had a secret recipe that really made you start feeling good. Jamaica's sand was beautiful and did not feel like any other sand, nor did it feel like America's sand. It had much larger grains and held moisture. Jamaica was where they warned us about people trying to talk to us a lot and sell us items that we probably would not be able to bring back on our crew ship. Something about Jamaica that I discovered was that they all lived in a lot of poverty which opened my eyes to the countless blessing I have back home.People were walking on the sides or the road, living in houses with no electricity, and I never figured out the purpose of throwing garbage bags in the road ditches. Ending my senior year with the three people that I was blessed to start it with was exactly how I wrote my playbook. Going on a cruise was a first time experience and definitely not a last. Cozumel, Jamaica, and The Cayman Islands will be seeing me again soon. I will not forget the iguanas, stingrays, or the bamboo stick drinks. 658 words
The smell of the restaurants faded and the new, refreshing aroma of the sea salt in the air took over. The sun’s warmth on my skin and the constant breeze was a familiar feeling that I loved every single time we came to the beach. I remember the first time we came to the beach. I was only nine years old. The white sand amazed me because it looked like a wavy blanket of snow, but was misleading because it was scorching hot. The water shone green like an emerald, it was content. By this I mean that the waves were weak enough to stand through as they rushed over me. There was no sense of fear of being drug out to sea like a shipwrecked sailor. Knowing all this now I knew exactly how to approach the beach. Wear my sandals as long as I could and lay spread out my towel without hesitation. Then I’d jump in the water to coat myself in a moist protective layer before returning to my now slightly less hot towel. In the water it was a completely different world. While trying to avoid the occasional passing jellyfish, it was an experience of
When I stepped out of the hot, airless plane into the bright, dazzling sunlight beaming down across the burning concreate, I felt excited and nervous. Holding my beach bag in my hand and slipping my Ray Ban sunglasses on with my other, I flip-flopped down the airspace. Overhead I heard the screams of gulls and the chatter of the small fluffy birds. I suddenly realized I had arrived to Hawaii. This trip was such an unforgettable vacation for me because I got to witness the beauty of nature that Hawaii has to offer.
I have never waited so long in my life, it took and hour and a half just to get three bags out to where the pickup was. We finally got our bags and took a shuttle to the Crown Paradise Hotel. This Hotel was so nice. It had a mini golf course, three pools(1 inside,2 outside), A basketball court, a movie theatre, etc. My hotel room was also super nice there were too connecting rooms so finally for once I got my own bed. The first day I did the most common and went to the beach. The sand was super hot and I’m not too fond of salt water, it just makes swimming in the ocean ten times worse. Then at night I played ping pong and pool against my dad. Then the rest of the week I would go swim in the outside pool or play futsal(soccer on pavement). I always came back with at least one blister on my foot. The worst thing about this trip was the sunburn, in cancun it's way hotter and it's so easy too get burned. This also made it hard because, since the water is so bad whenever I wanted water I would have to walk all the way to the elevator and then all the way down this long hallway to the gift shop and would buy a water bottle then go all the way back to my room. The food although was super good besides there breakfast and ketchup. The last day was the hardest it took so long trying to get on the plane and the car ride was so boring. But that’s my favorite
Carnival’s strategy focused on the "Fun Ship" concept, beginning with the Mardi Gras, which targeted people of all ages. In recent years the driving force behind why a person needs to take a vacation has changed. Today vacationers look to get away from everyday stress, and opt for a stress-relieving cruise.
When we were younger many of us wished that during the school year there would be cancellations or early dismissals. If the school’s education system in our district uses the year round school schedule then children and teachers as well won't feel overwhelmed due to the lack of vacations the traditional school system has. Now, to answer the question fellow parents of children in Danbury and Danbury citizens there should be year round school for these reasons: avoids teacher and student burnout, students will be more prepared for the future, and test score increase.
Let us not forget the ocean. There is nothing more spectacular then watching 12 to 20 foot waves crashing against the coral reefs. It is really something. I myself will never forget the first time I went surfing. At first, I got it down pretty well. I had very good balance and excellent control. I began to swim out farther then I should have. I see this wave come in that just blows me away. I try to paddle in to avoid it but it was too late.
My project that I will be doing for my Senior project is helping out the Swan Falls Assisted living center here in kuna. I would be playing games, helping them get around, make cookies, and anything else they need. I want to give back to my community and help others out as much as I can. I also would like to donate blankets and warms socks to everyone that lives there since it’s winter and its cold. It’s a very nice and generous thing to do and some of those people in there don’t get to see their family since they live out of town, work, or medical issues.
Southeastern University is a private, Co-ed, Christian university. SEU’s main focus is to equip their students to be a next generation of leaders so that they can enter the real world as influential servants to their careers and communities. Southeastern university offers a plentiful amount of study programs, even the program I am interested in which is Human services. I selected this school First because it is a Christian college, and Second because of the programs of study. I chose to go to a Christian college because I grew up in a Christian household and because I believe in Jesus. I also chose Southeastern University because of the programs of study. SEU was one of the few colleges that had a program of study that I was interested in.
Junior Year, hmm, how do I feel about good ol’ Junior year? Lets just say Junior year was full of rumors, and people who just don’t have anything better to do but make you feel like well, crap. Don’t forget a ton of rat faced drama queens flaunting the brand new car daddy bought them hoping to cause a scene. But there was a bright side to all of it, i had a few really great friends. Also a bunch of amazing, understanding teachers this year. I never thought you would actually learn something that would truly stay on your mind for the rest of your life. But I did, to be honest I believe I learned one thing from almost all of them. Maybe I’ll fill you in.
Getting prepared and ready to explore something new is just minor compared to the actual adventure for a senior anticipating the departure of their school trip. I was a member along with 30 other classmates of the co-curricular group called Business Professionals of America, a club organized through our school. Our teachers, club officers, and all of the members had been planning and fundraising for our trip to New York City for months. The excitement grew more and more as each day got closer to take off. All of us were anixious to see The Empire State Building, "Ground Zero," a Broadway play, and the spectacular views of gorgeous ocean sunsets. We had all been told and were aware of the different surroundings of the environment, or culture we would be experiencing when we arrived. Different cultures are common throughout the world, even in different places around the United States. Going on a trip to explore New York City really made the differences in cultures aware to me.
The Senior Experience was an excellent project to prepare me for the challenges common in college and the real world. One obstacle I faced was creating an appointment with the Lexington County Sheriffs Department. It was difficult waiting on the police department to contact me back, while deadlines for when I needed job shadowing forums steadily approached. Along with that, I had difficulties managing my time, because as a Student Athletic Training Aid I had to stay late after school everyday. I overcame this by finding work I could do in the baseball dugout and working over the weekend. On the other hand, Ms. Capers and I worked well together. We had the same ILT and could meet whenever needed. The only problem was that I chose a teacher that had not been an advisor before, luckily I was able to explain what her role was well enough.
Our parents had arranged for a cruise from Houston, Texas with stops at Cancun and Cozumel, Mexico. Then a one-day stop in Honduras and back to the U.S.A.
One exciting event was when we went to a park where I got to go zip lining, rock climbing, and swing on a huge tarzan swing. Another day we got to go to a hot spring waterpark. I got to go into a sauna for the first time in my life. They had a really fun water slide that I went on at least ten times. At the end there was a fantastic buffet filled with all kinds of foods and desserts. We got to go to two different markets during the trip. One was in a huge tent pavilion. That was where I got most of my souvenirs. The other one was in a strip mall style set up near the base of a volcano. My favorite place we went to was the zoo that was located in the rainforests of Costa Rica. The zoo had many different animals like big cats, primates, reptiles, and many other animals. My favorite was the butterfly exhibit, where the butterflies flew all around you. I was even able to have the butterflies land on me. They also had a big path through the rainforest that led to some waterfalls. Around the beginning of our time in the zoo, it began to rain. I personally thought that it was pretty cool that it was raining in the rain forest. Most days in Costa Rica were very hot and humid. There was also an hour time
My most memorable family vacation took place two years ago. We went to Corsica, a French island situated in the south of France right next to Italy. I remembered waking up early excited to visit this new land. Used to take long flights, I was surprised to arrive to the destination after a one-hour flight. Even though the flight was short for me, it was stressful for my mom, she has never felt secured in a plane, probably due to the fact that she is afraid of height. When finally arrived at the destination, the dry and warm weather was there to welcome us. We all felt relief, and knew that this was the beginning of the summer. Excited, we had a lot of activities planned for the few weeks, me and my father could not wait to dive in the clear
I was able to spend a lot of time with my family, our friends, and play all sorts of games. This experience made me start to like traveling. Every time I would get the chance to travel, I will take that chance. We were able to go to a theme park, eat many delicious foods, and play many video
