During my sophomore year at SVA, I went on a music trip to Costa Rica. At the beginning of the school year, I had no desire to give up my April home leave to go on a music trip. I would soon find that going on this trip would be one of the best decision I could have made. At this point in my life Costa Rica was only the third time I have been out of the U.S. The previous trips had been to Zambia and Guatemala. Unlike the those trips I did not really have a lot of excitement towards Costa Rica. The Excitement really didn't come until I was on the bus, leaving SVA. This would mark the start of a week long journey through the wonderful country of Costa Rica. We arrived in the BMI around two to three in the morning for our six o'clock flight …show more content…
One exciting event was when we went to a park where I got to go zip lining, rock climbing, and swing on a huge tarzan swing. Another day we got to go to a hot spring waterpark. I got to go into a sauna for the first time in my life. They had a really fun water slide that I went on at least ten times. At the end there was a fantastic buffet filled with all kinds of foods and desserts. We got to go to two different markets during the trip. One was in a huge tent pavilion. That was where I got most of my souvenirs. The other one was in a strip mall style set up near the base of a volcano. My favorite place we went to was the zoo that was located in the rainforests of Costa Rica. The zoo had many different animals like big cats, primates, reptiles, and many other animals. My favorite was the butterfly exhibit, where the butterflies flew all around you. I was even able to have the butterflies land on me. They also had a big path through the rainforest that led to some waterfalls. Around the beginning of our time in the zoo, it began to rain. I personally thought that it was pretty cool that it was raining in the rain forest. Most days in Costa Rica were very hot and humid. There was also an hour time

As my family and I walked into the plane, we were excited. The plane ride to jamaica stopped in L.A. and, after that, it went to jamaica. When we arrived in Jamaica it was really hot, but it was wet. I immediately took off my sweater I was wearing on the plane. We took a bus to our hotel. Then we started swimming in the water park. Every night there was a show in the main stage. The next day we woke up early to go to chukka. It was awesome. We saw a great house, rode on horses, and did a challenge course. After we came back from Chukka, we went to the water park and swimming pool at the hotel. Then we ate at fresh, which we went most of the time. The next day we woke up earlier to go to the dolphin cove. The bus was an hour late, but the wait
I have never waited so long in my life, it took and hour and a half just to get three bags out to where the pickup was. We finally got our bags and took a shuttle to the Crown Paradise Hotel. This Hotel was so nice. It had a mini golf course, three pools(1 inside,2 outside), A basketball court, a movie theatre, etc. My hotel room was also super nice there were too connecting rooms so finally for once I got my own bed. The first day I did the most common and went to the beach. The sand was super hot and I’m not too fond of salt water, it just makes swimming in the ocean ten times worse. Then at night I played ping pong and pool against my dad. Then the rest of the week I would go swim in the outside pool or play futsal(soccer on pavement). I always came back with at least one blister on my foot. The worst thing about this trip was the sunburn, in cancun it's way hotter and it's so easy too get burned. This also made it hard because, since the water is so bad whenever I wanted water I would have to walk all the way to the elevator and then all the way down this long hallway to the gift shop and would buy a water bottle then go all the way back to my room. The food although was super good besides there breakfast and ketchup. The last day was the hardest it took so long trying to get on the plane and the car ride was so boring. But that’s my favorite
I learned more than I ever imagined on my summer study abroad trip to Costa Rica. I learned that Costa Rica is a country like no other. The country is much different than what the United States of America is like. The lifestyles, customs, and practices of Costa Rica are very different than those that I am accustomed to. As an outsider looking into the country, I saw a country that is very poor financially but very rich in spirit. They do not appreciate wealth as United States citizens do, but instead appreciate love and gratitude. I noticed that Costa Ricans have very strong family values and cultural roots.
I do not remember much, but what I remember is that I had a lot of fun, got to see a beautiful sunset, and got to play in the beach for a long time, and then I have to roam Boardwalk and go shopping with my family. I finally get to go back and make fun and memorable memories.
My first day there was amazing because I found out that the next day I would go see ancient Aztec pyramids, so I would definitely need to rest up for the big day. The next day came and I couldn't wait to go see the ancient pyramids. I got there in a big touristy type bus and it was packed to the brim full of people which wasn't very comfortable, however we got through it.When I got there people were trying to sell my family and I weird wooden carvings, but we said no.Then we saw it the ancient pyramids
Langston Hughes uses poetic elements to express the reader his feelings towards America. Langston Hughes is very upset that America is not what it promised to be. Living in America, he never saw America to be the land of the free, what it promised to be. Instead, he saw America to be cruel to him and now wants to change America to be the country of the free he thought it was. He expresses all his emotion about America, in his poem, Let America Be America Again, by using connotative diction, repetition, narrative tone and organization; poetic elements.
At the age of ten, my parents decided that I should learn how to play an instrument. In addition, they also chose which instrument I should learn, the guitar. I had no interest in learning the guitar, because all I wanted to spend my leisure time on was improvising my soccer skills. However, my parents believed soccer was a waste of my precious time, time which I should be using to focus on school and expanding my brain by taking on a difficult task, such as learning to play music. This was contrary to what I believed, but I had to do it or else my parents would be displeased. Therefore, the following week, I began taking guitar lessons.
I desperately attempted to free myself from the relentless grasp of boredom. I looked out the window, but like the thousand times before, I saw nothing but farmland hugging the earth for miles. I was visiting my dad's home country, the Dominican Republic, for the first time in my life. The night before I couldn’t sleep. Every time I closed my eyes the thoughts of all the enjoyable activities I would be doing flooded my mind. I couldn’t wait to go out to sea on my Uncle's small fishing boat, swimming in the crystal clear waters surrounding Punta Cana, and kayaking to a small nearby island with my parents. But first, I would have to experience a 3 hour long drive to go to the quinceanera of a cousin that I had never even met.
We went back to our cabin and woke up the next day ready for the road. We didn’t get back on the road tell 10:00 AM. We still had a 6
Once I was able to dig deeper I found out that Costa Rica is a very interesting country with fun and exciting adventures waiting like; hiking next to a volcano at night, rappelling down a waterfall, or ever soaking in a hot spring. I do not know about you but my bags are packed and I’m headed for the airport right now. If only I did not have class tomorrow, I can dream right? Well the first major topic I am going to start with is the general overview of Costa Rica, so let us get started shall we.
After two plane rides and a long four hour bus trip all fifty of us finally arrived in Farmington, New Mexico. It was my first time being away from parents for more than a couple days and my first mission trip. I was extremely nervous. I thought the trip was gonna be a miserable ten days. It was the summer going into my senior year and before I left I was having a blast hanging out with my friends, going swimming, riding bikes, and relaxing every single day. The last thing I wanted to do was go on a church mission trip, but my parents insisted that I go. My parents said, it would be a, "great experience" and "life changing." They were right! I did not believe them until I got to the reservations. Met all the amazing Navajo Indians and learned
Asia was awesome! Everything, from the food I ate to the people I met, gave me a new perspective on life. I still cannot get over the fact that I have traveled to the other side of the world. This school program gave me many memorable experiences, allowed me to learn a lot about the culture of Asia, and introduced me to friends that I'll treasure for a life time. I knew that there was a reason I got to go, and while I was there I tried to make the most of such an opportunity.
Without warning, the lights went dark. This was the moment I had been waiting for. My adrenaline went through the roof. The time had finally come that I would get to see and hear my first live concert.
I was able to spend a lot of time with my family, our friends, and play all sorts of games. This experience made me start to like traveling. Every time I would get the chance to travel, I will take that chance. We were able to go to a theme park, eat many delicious foods, and play many video
