We packed all night and drove all day but when we stopped every hour. Our legs were asleep almost every time we stopped. It was me , my family and a 9 hour drive to South Dakota. That's what we thought we starts early in the morning. We packed up said goodbye to my brother and are dog and we started the journey. We made it about 25 miles before we had to stop because someone had to go to the bathroom. This happened for about every 50 to 60 miles it was suppose to be a 7 hour drive but it turned into a 10 to 11 hour drive. We didn’t arrive to Sioux Falls, South Dakota until 2:30 PM this was our first KOA we stayed at. We didn’t really have anything to do tell the next day so we went to the falls and went to Thunder Road a family fun place where there's mini golf, laser tag, go kart racer and a laser trip field. We did mini golf and go karts tell the 8:30 PM. We went back to our cabin and woke up the next day ready for the road. We didn’t get back on the road tell 10:00 AM. We still had a 6 …show more content…
The first nothing happened all we did was sleep because South Dakota is a hour behind Iowa so we slept in all day. The second day we finally went to Mount Rushmore and he went in the afternoon my mom took like a million picture of everything. We took about 8 hours there. When we came back the night we only had three hours there cause we took the bus there. We spent three hours inside because it was mosquito paradise. So we only watched the light up and took a ton of pictures. The last day we spent all day packing up. It still was another 8 - 10 hour drive back to Iowa I fell asleep for 4 hours. When we finally made it to Iowa it was 10:30 PM. I fell asleep right after we made it back to Iowa. So it wasn’t that bad. The trip to South Dakota it was the best thing of my summer.
I learned that when you drive for 8 hours you see things that that you never see anywhere else. Looking back It was more amazing just the ride then Mount
Wisconsin Dells was better than Six Flags because my family stayed longer. We were in Wisconsin Dells for four days, but we were only at Six Flags for two days. Because we were in the Dells longer, my family was able to create more memories. Six Flags may have had more attractions inside the park itself, but I felt rushed and did not enjoy my time there as much. The length of time my family spent in Wisconsin also gave us the ability to experience the numerous attractions found outside of the park.
Have you ever looked off a gigantic cliff? Now imagine traveling 30 miles per hour on a bike with curvy roads with enormous cliffs on your side with no rails. This is exactly what I did with my family when we went to Colorado. From the hotel we drove to a bike tour place to take us to the summit of Pikes Peak. After we arrived at the building we saw pictures of how massive the cliffs were, but what terrified me was the fact they had no side rails. This observation was thrilling as well as terrifying. It was an odd mix of emotions, but I loved the adrenaline rush it gave me. My dad whispered to me, “ This will be absolutely horrifying”.
We started our travels down in Columbus Ohio. The week leading up to the big move we spent at Deer Creek State park, for a family reunion, where my dad and step mom, had the chance to see everyone again, before the journey began. Over all we had taken nine days to get to our destination. First stop, Saint Louis, Missouri, we stopped to see the Gateway Arch. It was a lot bigger than I thought it would be, so of course I was pretty amazed. The first few days were our longest driving days, but sense we broke up the days, our longest day was eight hours. The second day was the worst, Oklahoma is so boring to drive through, and nothing but flat crop farms, and wind turbines everywhere you look. We drove till we got about seventy five miles from the boarder of New Mexico, And Oklahoma. We got up early and began a shorter dive to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where we went to Petroglyph National Monument, yeah it was interesting, but after you see a few hundred, they all start to look the same. The next morning we took a beautiful hike and took many pictures to capture the moment. Other than getting there, my favorite part of the trip, was Arizona, where we stayed four days in Flagstaff, one day in Holbrook, and one day in Phoenix. I wouldn’t mind if I lived in Arizona, it’s a very beautiful state. My family and I stopped by the Petrified Forest National Park, and I
Have you ever been to Texas? I have been once. My trip to Texas was unbelievably awesome. I saw many of things on my way there. While we were there, I had loads of fun. Many things happened while we were there. Texas was the coolest place I have ever been.
Our trip back to Minnesota was one of the worst. Our first flight was behind we would have missed our connecting flight from LA to Minnesota. So we had to wait for about two hours more for a flight to Phoenix and then back to Minnesota. Once we got to Phoenix around nine we had a three hour delay til our flight back to Minnesota. While waiting for our flight back I watched Ride Along. The movie was great and the time flew by. Out flight back home left at midnight and was about a four hour flight to Minnesota. Because of the time change we didn't land until five in the morning. We took a taxi back to the hotel where we had our car parked. We had to brush off all of the snow on the car. We didn't get home until 6:45. Other then the flight home I had a great spring break. One to sure to remember.
The first time I ever went to South Carolina it was magical. The ride to South Carolina was time-consuming and tiresome. My family and I departed to IHOP on the way and got some pancakes! When I first arrived in South Carolina, I was flabbergasted at how stunning the state was on a starry night. Driving to the condo, I was thrilled about how much space we had. I discovered many of the features of the complex.
At the fifty mile mark of the trip, we made two bathroom stops, and one fast food stop. Don't believe your child if she tells you, "I'm starving and if I don't eat I'm going to die." Soon after that, we had to make an emergency stop at the side of the road. I never ate burgers again after what I saw. The roads were winding and I had to bite the insides of my mouth to keep myself from asking, "Are we there yet?" We got to our campsite in the afternoon. That was when momentous action took place.
One of the worst parts of the trip was that my family and I had to wake up at 3:00 AM to catch the plane in Manchester. We flew from Manchester to Cleveland Ohio, and then from Cleveland to Salt Lake City, Utah. I had a lot of fun on the plane. They served me a lot of drinks and food because I was hungry. I couldn't wait to get to the airport because airports are fun. When we arrived in Cleveland I went to some stores and got more to eat. Then we got on the airplane again and started heading out west. When we finally got to our final...
Beginning of summer 2013, my family; which includes my mother, aunt, little brother, and myself, decided to take a trip to Texas. During our little vacation we went to Dallas and met the people off of Gas Monkey Garage, the TV show, and got pictures with them as well, they all smelled fantastic, like fancy cologne. Also we stopped at a mall in Dallas where they have a ice skating rink! I’m pretty sure we need malls with ice skating rinks in Utah! Anyways we ended up leaving with 6 pairs of flip flops from a little shop that reminded me of Hawaii. We went to Galveston Texas and rode a four person bicycle on the street next to the ocean, also in Galveston I learned how to catch little crabs with a net and a piece of bacon, we went to an amusement park on a pier; not just for rainbow flavored dippin’ dots, but also for the insane roller coasters that go over the ocean. While in Texas I learned many
First me,my Mom, and my brother Blake went to my grandmas house. Then we met up with my Grandma, ant Gretchen, cousin Kathy, cousin Trista, ant Dana, and my little cousin Haven and stayed there for a cupel hours and then spent the night.Next we started to drive to California in the morning at 10:45.We went to a lot of different places and it took us four days to get there and I got to miss the last week of second grade. After that we went to our cabin and unpacked our stuff and got set up.Then we went over to our friends cabin to see Dal and Damrese. Then we went back to our cabin.Next me and Blake went to our cousins camper and then came back.Next all of the kids went swimming for a cupel hours. After that the parents went to Dal's cabin and were
My favorite smell, probably his, hers, and theirs too, is the smell of freshly cut grass. It’s a little bit sad, actually, that I like the smell of dead organisms, murdered by the hired mower or my grandfather or the obnoxious neighbors who play their drums loudly every Friday. The smell of freshly cut grass brings me back to the time before my parents split up, nearly eight years ago. I feel like I’ve time-traveled to the years of 2009 and 2010. Those were good years. My family of five, myself included, would go on road trips reaching as far as the border of Kansas to the coniferous trees of the Rocky Mountains. There’s a particular memory that I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forget. Imagine being four years old and sitting in a Honda
The place where I would like to call me second home is located all the way down in Savanna Georgia. I can remember way back about nine years ago in the summer of 2008. The plane ride was a long and hot, and I spent the whole ride playing on my PSP. When I got off the plane I remembered walking through the freezing cold Savanna International Airport seeing all the flags of different countries hanging from the ceiling, but then taking one step out of the airport front doors looking for the car services that was rented and feeling the crushing 100°F heat and deathly humidity. But it is all worth the painful heat to spend time in the beautiful city.
After being away for a while, I decided to reacquaint myself with Wisconsin. I feel like I have lost the flavor and taste and sound of it, so I have decided to learn more about my state. My plan is to take a long and relaxing three-month trip with my best friend Charley. Along the way I would like to meet people and make conversations with them. I like to observe the state and I would like my mind to wander as I make this journey with Charley.
Our adventure started at three in the morning, we had a long drive to Raleigh followed by a
One of the most enjoyable things in life are road trips, particularly to the Colorado mountains. Getting to spend time with your family and friends, while being in a beautiful place, is irreplaceable. The fifteen-hour road trip may feel never-ending, but gazing at the mountains from afar makes life’s problems seem a little smaller and causes worries to become a thing of the past. Coming in contact with nature, untouched, is a surreal experience. My family trip to the Colorado mountains last summer was inspiring.
