This is my first semester at ART College. For me, it is the very first step for my journey of studying design. The reason why I decided to take this class was that I wanted to try and see if I like enough to continue studying this field or not. Also I’ve wanted to study design and computer programming, so I thought web design was the perfect combination of the fields that I was interested in. Before I started this class, I thought web design is all about making pretty and convenient websites, so I thought graphic design skill is more important than logical thinking or technical process. However, based on what I’ve learned from this class so far, I’ve realized that web designers are required to have not only good design skills, but also the ability to lead the whole website project from the beginning to the end. In other word, web design is not only about placing good design elements on the website, but also gathering information, planning, communicating, coding, and maintaining websites. I think understanding job descriptions and requirements for web designer, and learning the whole process of web designing are the biggest improvements and accomplishments that I’ve achieved through this class.
I’ve been trying to read more about web design since I started this class, and the reading materials from this class have been really helpful for me. I do enjoy reading the websites articles about web design processes and fundamentals. Also, when I do homework assignments, the reading materials provide all the knowledge and information that I need. Sometimes, if I need more information, I look up more articles and blog postings that the professional web designers posted. I’ve subscribed for those blog postings, so that I can rea...

... summarize it before I start my assignment. That gives me concrete and concise base to start the assignment. Also, I think I’ve got better at gathering information about the assignment, and planning how to develop my idea for the assignment.
In the future, I would like to spend more time to fully digest the studying contents before I start assignments, and try not to leave behind anything that I did not understand. Also, I would try to go with more of my ideas that what books tell me, so that I can learn how to develop my ideas and convince my clients and users of my ideas. For the better outcome from this class, I would love to hear from Professor Bennett’s feedbacks on my assignments. It was really good that she gave us her feedback with detail examples on our wireframe assignment, and it definitely helps me to re-do the assignment, and make it better.
... the value of organization and planning. The structure provided by the instructor truly helped me break down very large projects into smaller, more approachable assignments. For example, for each essay due, there were smaller deadlines that needed to be met. As I kept up with those smaller assignments, the actual large due date was not intimidating and I was able to handle the stress better. I will definitely use this approach in my future academic writing assignments.
At the beginning of the semester, I did not know what the "Service Learning and Social work Practice" course mean. However, through the process, with the accompaniment of Professor Preeti Charania, I understood the course and noticed a lot of transformation in me through the semester. The following are some of the changes and growth I have seen in me from class readings, discussions, group works, and working with the Church World Service (CWS) agency.
The English course forced me to become more organized by breaking down every project into different processes which compelled me to make a continuous effort for the class, which differ from the usual standards at high-school. Since I did not work under pressure, my ideas were able to flow more naturally and my work was of higher quality. As I created the webpage, which is artifact 1, the detailed process served as a guidance in how to proceed with my webpage, which included multiple modalities thoughtfully and synergistically. Understating the genre and audience as well as the rhetorical process generated a detailed de...
I was more confident in my writing because I learned to improve my writing by making outline prior to beginning a paper. Without an outline, I would lose track of my thoughts, I would ramble and make common mistakes; it would be catastrophic. The purpose of an outline is similar to having d...
I have learned many things in this class, some of them have helped me in many other aspects as well. I have learned a lot about myself and about the aging, and I am assured that after completing this course, I have improved. I have started to feel that my world and my preparation for the world have also improved ever since I have taken this class. Taking this class has taught me different techniques to consider when dealing with aging. This topic was of great interest to me. I was surprised to learn that successful aging is a combination of physical and functional health, high cognitive functioning, and active involvement with society. It was interesting to learn that these factors could lead to a lower risk of disease and disability. As
It was a long and hard road to find my spirituality. Long ago I was an atheist, but after many months, even years of searching and thinking I began to find my own sense of religion. The steps cannot be done in one night. Not even in one week. They need constant revision and repetition. Sooner or later you will find your own spirituality.
The movie “The Class Divided” was a very inspirational movie because it taught a lesson on discrimination and racism. The film covers Jane Elliot experience with the “eye-color” exercise and it shows how the participants responded to being a victim of discrimination. The teacher who came up with the exercise was a third grade –teacher that wanted to explain to her kids the reasons behind Martin Luther King death. She divided each class she taught up by their eye color and treated them according to whatever eye color was more superior that day. Her lesson influenced and inspired the younger kids and older adults because it taught them a life learning lesson that could stick with them for years to come.
I intend on becoming an industrial designer and by taking classes for art in the summer, I can get a head-start on the classes I need for my future career. Moreover, I will be taking AP Studio Art next year, and this class will surely prepare me for all the challenges of a college-level art course, as well as the other AP courses I will be taking my senior year. In addition to preparing me for future AP courses, the pre-collegiate program will also provide me with the necessary skills I will need to succeed in college. This course will help me build independence and responsibility, as well as organizational skills. No high school class will be able to teach me these skills as well, nor be able to provide such an accurate college experience. Furthermore, being able to perform well in college courses will demonstrate that I am capable of handling higher

It is said that the college experience is not for everyone. That not everyone can achieve the high expectations of everything that encompasses the requirements that are needed to successfully complete the work required. When I first started college I felt like I was one of the ones that did not belong, but as I struggled through each class I slowly learned that the possibilities for me to succeed where there. By looking over my previous essays, this essay will examine and help express how I have achieved what was required of me in this class.
When looking back over the course as an entity, I enjoyed the videos and reflections. I feel I have learned the most through this homework assignment. The videos gave me the opportunity to be able to put the techniques I learned to action. I loved how I was able to self reflect on my video and learn more about myself as a counselor through this. Also, I think the class feedback checklist was very helpful. When tying my reflections, I would reflect
While sometimes a struggle, I would try my best to complete my assignments timely and completely. However, my written assignments have helped me to improve more than reading from the textbook. According to my paper grades in comparison to my test grades, I have noted that my overall writing and revising improvement is due to practice, rather than observation. This has also brought to my mind that it is personally more challenging for me to start a written piece than it is to revise. Writing my analysis paper was extremely difficult, as every topic I found seemed rather boring.
I want to be a better person, and it is because of this class that I was finally able to figure out how to go about doing just that. I know how to learn. I know that if I am going to learn in an effective manner I have to do things hands on. I have learned that my way isn’t always the best way. When it comes to solving a problem, I have to be open and willing to actually hearing the other side of the situation instead of plotting my defense in my head. I have learned that thinking critically isn’t something that is learned and mastered overnight. To apply critical thinking effectively I have to be able to be aware and practice the steps every single time. After I graduate and walk away with my Bachelor’s Degree, I want my success to continue. I want to be able to take what I have learned and apply it to my Project Manager career. For me, Academic Success will not end when that diploma is in my hand. As long as I have goals and strive to reach and set new goals, academic success will forever be in my
When I originally started this class, I was apprehensive that I would learn a lot about aging. However, I am happy to say that I have learned so much more about aging than I anticipated. This class has changed my view of aging, although some views have stayed the same. I am still not scared about dying or the idea of death, I am more scared however about aging.
Abstract: Recently, there has been a rush to create web-based instructional courses. The approach that is being taken to create web-based courses is to create websites that will function as the central distributors of information and materials. Based on the format and content of the course, the student is to go through lesson by lesson to complete courses. In this paper, I address some of the problems inherent in this approach, especially with respect to 18-22 year-old undergraduate education.
