It was a long and hard road to find my spirituality. Long ago I was an atheist, but after many months, even years of searching and thinking I began to find my own sense of religion. The steps cannot be done in one night. Not even in one week. They need constant revision and repetition. Sooner or later you will find your own spirituality.
I began with analyzing many different religions. The internet makes this task a lot less tedious. With so much information readily available to me on whatever I want the search was easy. Take only slight consideration on your sources. Only check to make sure that you’re not on some blog or propaganda site. However, you can tell a lot about some regions and what they teach simply by listening and reading

The easiest way I’ve found to discover things about yourself is to simply agree with your instincts. If you read about something terrible such as a terrorist attack and feel you need to help somehow help. If you feel like it’s not your problem don’t help. Either way doesn’t make you a better or worse person. It is simply who you are. However, self-improvements are encouraged along the way to make you the person you want to be or highlight who you already are.
People often have warped views on you, which in turn can warp your own. Never let this happen. Be aware of what people think of you, and accept your faults. Never take offence to what people say and think about you this will not help anything. Everyone has faults, and taking offence harms your journey. Accepting faults makes you stronger as a person, and strengthens your being.
The final step is to accept the world around you. This step was especially difficult for me. The world around me was so gray. Everything around me not as it should be. People kill one another in the name of God and country, the rich take from the poor and give to themselves, allies fight for some resource or another. As glum as this is we must all accept that it will happen. All we can do is try to make it better for ourselves and
The constituted method is when one discovers themselves through others. There is a false way and an effective, true way to discover oneself in a constituted manner. The false way of self-discovery is copying other people’s sense of self. (Their beliefs, opinions, actions… etc.) The other more effective method would be to learn from the experiences of others, and to learn from who they are. It is taking the self-understanding from others and deciding what to accept as one’s own self-understanding. Ultimately, the decision of the ideas to believe or reject must be made by the individual.
According to biblical texts, in the beginning, God created the first man, Adam and made him a woman, Eve. He gave Adam a woman, not a man, so that the human race can maintain a man/woman relationship. For thousands of years homosexuality has been misconduct or in the church’s case, sin. We are continuously beset with this controversial topic and have since reached a point where homosexuality is more open and more accepted than ever. Now, gay men and women fight for the right to be legally married in the United States. In Christianity, marriage is a lifelong commitment under God and many Christians believe this is a “major sin.” However, no matter the relation of man and woman or man and man, Homosexuals should be allowed to have a lifelong
Prayer in School: Good or Bad? As secular humanists and groups like the Christian Coalition are at war with each other regarding prayer in high schools behind closed doors in Washington DC, the average high school kid is the one that gets caught in the middle. For years now there has been a heated debate about whether or not prayer should be allowed in school. Every time the argument is rekindled, it ends in a stalemate, and is a topic that campaigning politicians tend to stay away from.
Today we are living in an aggressive world and endeavoring to make an amazing vocation to end up distinctly noticeable piece of our public. Once the profession is steady then to carry on with an upbeat-wedded life would be less demanding in light of the fact that the greater part of the necessities would be secured which require cash. Therefore, we have to complete our studies. To convince you more, On the off chance that you're applying for an employment as a social worker yet don't have a degree in the field, do you think you'd arrive the position over some individual who has their Master’s degree in social work? According to Dr. Heath Allen who stated that, advanced education enhances an individual's personal satisfaction. Considers
In this paper two topic from the Psychology and Spirituality course will be discussed in regards to spirituality and their influence on my personal life. I will examine how I have grown and what I have learned from the week on Spring Lake ranch and how I wish to continue moving forward in my attempt to be spiritual and build a closer relationship to God.
Have you ever wondered how some athletes have gotten so good at a certain sport? Have you ever thought about what they did in order for them to get this good? For some the answer is simple; workout and train. But for others the answer is different; the use of performance enhancing drugs such as steroids. There are some people that argue that steroids should be legalized and allowed in professional sports. Other people argue that steroids should not be allowed. Today I am going to state my opinion and justify my reason. Steroids should not be allowed in professional sports because it can be very dangerous to the athlete’s health, it is a way to gain and un-fair advantage and it can be dangerous in both social and physical aspects.
Eggs came first. Millions of years before mammals, eggs existed, their hard shells unlike her mammalian sister who waddles around, heavily crippled with the burden of her womb. Eggs conferred evolutionary advantage.
Imagine dedicating your life to a university not only on the academic level, but also the athletic level. With a full scholarship your time is dedicated to getting to class on time, finishing assignments, and making it to mandatory practices while also maintaining a strict workout schedule. With your day pretty much full of responsibilities, you do not have the time for a job to pay for anything that you may need outside of tuition, books, and housing. If your car breaks down or you run out of gas you have to pay for that out of your own pocket which is fairly difficult when you do not have an income to cover the costs and if you accept money or free services from any businesses, you could lose you eligibility as a NCAA athlete and lose your
Sixty-one years ago the world would never accept anyone from the LGBT community. They were dealing with unjust behavior every time they were seen in public. But in the last 20 years more people are coming out “the closet”, there has been many protest and gatherings, and Laws have been enforced to help the growth of the LBGT community. “When all Americans are treated as equal, no matter who they are or whom they love, we are all more free” (Barrock Obama). It shouldn’t matter who a person decides to love, everybody should be treated equally.
Practicing mindfulness is something that most people probably have on their daily to-do list, but never getting around to it because they either don’t believe it’ll work or feel too busy with their lives to stop for literally just a minute to breathe. When going into this activity, my to-do is exactly what was in mind. It’s the list that is never completed. So, having this as an actual assignment was exactly what I needed to get a jumpstart on my mindfulness techniques in my daily life.
Every Sunday. Stares and disappointment. I sat with my grandmother at this big church. People would stare when they realized I didn't know the prayers or songs. I was trying to learn more about religion why did I feel so scared? Am I going to find where I belong? Will I have enough time? These are questions I sometimes have to ask myself. When I was little I explored many religions but now that i'm older I am frightened about faith.
Mental disorders are rapidly becoming more common with each new generation born in the world. Currently, nearly one in two people suffer from some form of depression, anxiety, or other mental health problem at some point in their lives (Editor). With so many people suffering from their mental illnesses, steps have been taken in order to get help needed for these people but progress has been slow. In the medical world, hospitals are treating those with physical problems with more care than those with mental problems. Prescription drugs can only do so much helping the mentally ill go through their daily lives and more should be done to help those who need more than medicine to cope with their illness. Mental health should be considered just as important as physical health because of how advanced physical healing is, how the public reacts to those with mental illness, and due to the consequences that could happen if the illness is not correctly helped.
Being sick and in the hospital is not something any of us plan. However, it is something that we welcome when we are too sick to be at home with our loved ones. While in the hospital we would like the staff to have our best interest in mind by caring for our physical, mental and spiritual needs. (I use spiritual in this paper to include those that are religious. I do this because most religious people I know claim to be spiritual but not all spiritual people claim to be religious.) Hospital are good about treating our physical ailments but not so much with the spiritual. I believe our spiritual beliefs have an effect on our mental and physical wellbeing and should be addressed by providers. I am not the only one with this belief according
“Just as a candle cannot burn without fire, men cannot live without a spiritual life.” According to Buddha, everyone needs some form of spirituality to define his or her life and existence. Webster Dictionary defines spiritualism as “a system of beliefs or religious practices based on supposed communication with the spirits of the dead, often times through mediums.” Though this is one general definition of spiritualism, this concept is one that does not hold a conclusive meaning. Each and every single person has the ability and right to create and practice their own idea of spiritualism. From ancient times to present day, the term and practice of spirituality has transformed, particularly from region to region. Despite the discrepancies in practices and overall understanding of this idea, spirituality has had an effect and impact upon all of humanity since the creation of time. This religion that is believed to have been established in the early eighteen hundreds, after two little girls claimed to have the ability to talk to spirits, sparked interest in this spiritual movement, allowing it to spread rather rapidly over many geographical locations. Aside from being recognized as a religion, spiritualism is also believed to be a form of philosophy and a science in which spiritualists believe that there is life after death and try to demonstrate this through the ability of attempting to communicate with those that have passed on. Spiritualism was socially different from other religions in existence at the time because it presented followers with a more tolerant belief system that assimilated the principles and facts from a selection the world's religions. Spiritualism also made it acceptable for women to play a disti...
Spirituality can have many different definitions, depending on who is asked. It can be something as simple as looking for a higher meaning to life, or something so complex that one can base their beliefs, religion and overall life around it. There are several different ways to express one's spirituality; rituals, songs, dances, stories, and writings are all common methods of expression.
