In our everyday life we are surrounded by a variety of people. As the research proved that you are the average of five people you spend the most time with. In fact, there is an old proverb that reads, “Show me your friends and I will tell you who you are.” Therefore, it is very important to be cautious whom we surround ourselves with. Some of the people we deal with on a daily basis are a joy to be with, and their loving presence nurtures and encourages us. Others may have the opposite effect: draining us of our energy, making us feel tired and exhausted through constant emotional bullying and manipulation. They suck out maybe some of our tangible resources as well.We must refuse to allow ourselves to be treated poorly. An unfortunate development in the past few years is the social construct that the future generation is steadily becoming more selfish and vain. Likely originating from the countless “selfies,” or pictures of oneself, being taken by teenagers and young adults, adults of the last generation seem to be under the impression that the Millennials in line to take power will have more priorities meant to benefit the individual rather than the population as a whole. Thankfully, they are mistaken. Still, though, it is a problem that the line between self-confidence and narcissism has become so thin that we can no longer be one without the other. General impressions of the words have been passed down through the years, and unfortunately both have become so watered down that they seem basically the same. So what is the difference between confidence and narcissism?
It is vital when looking for a new job or career that you know what skills and qualities you have. Knowing what you can or cannot do will alter what employers and positions there are for you. Throughout my higher education at Full Sail University, I have been able to overcome weaknesses that I have and raised other strengths beyond what I thought I could. Matching what you are good at and not so good at can help shape what your life path will be. Looking deeper into my personal capabilities, I have discovered three strengths and three weaknesses that I have and I’m working on eliminating or improving. If you are not good at something, improving even slightly can have a nice positive impact on your overall quality of life at work and at home.

... are. If it doesn’t threaten your life, it really isn’t important. These people aren’t special, they’re just more self-aware. They care less. Ignorance can be a good thing. The less you know, the less you have to worry. Once you have a taste of friendship, it’s addicting. It’s as if it has its own mixture of nicotine. This is the reason why there are so many groups. To be a loner, you have to start a loner. This takes commitment. Your school life will become miserable and days will seem longer. This is all for the sake of escaping the falsehood that hides beneath the term friendship. If you’re kind to me, you’re kind to others. If the truth is cruelty, then kindness must be a lie. Not all lies are bad, and the truth is not always cruel. But, the majority dominates the minority. This is a fact of life. A fact that shares the bond between friendship and rivalry.
Good accomplishments such as graduating college at the top of your class or earning enough money to get something that you have want, gives people confidence.Confidence makes people feel like they can do anything. It allows people to overcome obstacles along the way to success. While trying to accomplish your goals, be around people you know and feel comfortable with to help you try and reach your goal. A head coach at the University of California in Los Angeles,John Wooden, once said,“Things work out best for those who make the best of how things work.”Accomplishments also make other people have good self-esteem.
Nowadays, friends always seem to be around to celebrate our triumphs, however, at low points in our lives, many just disappear when we need them the most. A quote by Benjamin Franklin says that “A false friend and a shadow attend only while the sun shines,” meaning fake friends, like all friends, give support when life is good, however, they always abandon us when our days turn dark. This is something that true friends do not do, for they will stand by their friends no matter the consequence. What makes a fake friend difficult to spot is their kind and supportive facade. I can recall having friends who promised to be at a competition to support me, but bail at the last minute, sending a “Next time, I promise!” text and friends who complimented me then trash talked me behind my back. This continuous deception can eventually wear out our morale. The author of The Great Pearl of Wisdom, Bangambiki Habyarimana defines an enemy as a friend whose mask has fallen. This is true because, without their loving facade, a fake friend is the definition of an enemy: a person who feels hatred for another. A true friend is not afraid to be genuine and, unlike a fake, they do not hide behind a mask and hold back in their support for their friends. The mask that covers a fake friend’s envy and hate eventually wears off, thus exposing their true form to others. However, mask or

Like said by Arvind Devalia “all relationships should be seen as an adventure. And it’s not much fun if someone is taking advantage of our kindness and good hearts.” I, myself, have come across my fair share of toxic friendships. I’ve become very familiar with the characteristics of someone who isn’t healthy to have in one’s own life. Whether it be someone who believes they can be your only friend, someone who calls you names, or even just someone who puts little effort towards being your friend in general but expects you to bend over backward for them in return. These are all examples of people who will pull a cloud of negativity over everyday life and it shouldn’t ever be
"You must constantly ask yourself these questions: Who am I around? What are they doing to me? What have they got me reading? What have they got me saying? Where do they have me going? What do they have me thinking? And most important, what do they have me becoming? Then ask yourself the big question: Is that okay? Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.”
In the quest to become successful, you strive to become a better person in many aspects of life – your personality, discipline, time management, among others. You even set smaller goals that you can achieve daily. You keep yourself motivated via reading articles, books, and watching videos on self-improvement. One aspect that you could be overlooking is your environment- the friends that you keep. Are they negative?
Career ambition is also one of the biggest motivations for me to apply for the master programme. Upon graduation, I plan to work as a business analyst in the high-tech companies such as Baidu and Tencent, to specifically gain experience in user behaviour analysis. As I am a person seeking changes and enjoy evaluating and analysing data, creating solutions and communicating with many people, I hope to apply my skill to manage change in line with company goals and even to improve social welfare. My long-term goal is to be a data scientist—to dig deeper on data mining and modelling, which is a more challenging and creative process. Equipped with the undergraduate knowledge about economics, I intend to learn business analytics in a systematic way
