In order to have a happy, successful and fulfilling life, we should emphasis our moralities and values both in our personal life and at work. Taking our values into account especially when we reach a decision could be the most important factor that determines whether we would be happy and successful in our life. There are a variety of tests that are used to verify our morals, perception, values, intelligence or aptitudes and skills to succeed in our life. Self-assessment tests are one of them. It improves self-understanding and builds better relationships with others and Increase our chances of strong interpersonal skills by considering our strengths. For example, when I worked as a tax professional, I always think as a salesperson and engaged clients in a conversation about their expectations and demands rather than considering only filing the tax return. In the vast and detailed world of psychology, there are a variety of different tests you can participate in. For example, you can participate in aptitude, verbal or numerical reasoning, and psychometric tests. These tests assess a variety of different situations such as: behaviors, abilities and intelligence. Personality tests, a common and favored test, measure things such as: behavioral style, opinions, motivators, personal values and career interests. Most often, people complain or disagree with the score of some areas on their personality test; however, there are no right or wrong answers.
I believe our personalities make up who we are and how others perceive us at times. Personalities are our own unique qualities, that we possess as individuals. In writing this short paper, I have found that psychologists use assessments to define an individual’s personality to determine their qualities and what makes them different from other individuals. I strongly believe that the class, HD341 Communication for Empowerment fulfill my goals in taking this class because it is giving me many opportunities to make connection with other classmates. I usually check in by sharing my stories at school, at work, and any issues that I am still concerned. Therefore, verbal communication is an area I frequently use in class to communicate with my peers as well as my professor. I also have active listening my classmate’s stories and have critical thinking to giving feedbacks to them.
As my English 101 class comes to an end, I have realized how much I have transformed as a writer. In this essay, I am going to explain what I realized my strengths and weaknesses are as a writer and how they have manifested themselves throughout the quarter. I was skeptical at first coming into this class knowing that English takes formidable work and dedication, but I am very proud of the progress I have made. We completed a great deal of work throughout the quarter; from grammar exercises, summary reviews, and two challenging essays. Throughout the quarter I found myself improving in each category. As a writer, my skills and confidence have developed into more clarity and thought, something I have always wanted to be, as a result of a well constructed class that led to a superb educational experience.
According to Carl Jung and Isabel Briggs Myers, the theory of Personality Types contends that our native Personality Type indicates how we likely deal with different situations that life presents and, in which environments we are most comfortable. Personality tests are often beneficial as a recruiting tool by providing insight into the human psyche, which provides different ways to categorize different characteristics or traits that we may be unaware of. These tests are helpful for managing people in efforts of learning how others might react to various circumstances in their environment. More importantly, personality tests can be used for self-reflection and understanding, which will help with learning how to interact with others in a team or work group. Conducting personality tests allows organizations to gain an understanding of the internal and external perspectives that directly affects organizational behavior.
After completing the assessment exercise I have been able to carefully my personality. The exercise consisted of an evaluation of four areas: Locus of Control, Personality Type, Stress Reactions, and Learning Styles.
After the self-assessment, now I feel confident about my qualities and how I need to deal with people with different personality having very differently thinking and how we can come to a common solution of any problem.
Self assessment is a process in which you examine yourself in attempt to discover and learn more about yourself. Your likes, dislikes, behaviors, attitudes and habits can be found during this process. You can use the discoveries to your advantage by accepting or changing strengths and weaknesses. In our heads, we all have a perception of our own personality, so when faced with the reality of it, it can be hard to accept. Some people have a better recognition of their personality traits, I like to think I’m one of those people. Before taking the personalities tests, I assessed a few key characteristics about myself: hardworking, stubborn, bright, lazy, extroverted, slow to trust. First in college while going for my bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, then while attending Airman Leadership School, and finally for this class. Taking these test all three times I have received similar if not the same results so I think that I have answered these truthful each time.
