School Construction: Wrong Decision
My only ‘normal’ year of high school was my freshman year. I don’t know if any part of high school is normal, but the last three years for me were miserable. Those years were full of construction. Greeneville High School was built in 1950 and was in serious need of help. The town had to make a decision on what they wanted. They weren’t sure whether to build a brand new school in a new location or remodel and expand right where it is. They chose to rebuild and expand. That meant my last years there would be one big headache. I’m not saying the decision to leave the school in its existing location was wrong, but I do believe that no one really took into consideration the hassle it would cause.
At the beginning of freshman year, the school system sent out surveys asking the parents what they thought of fixing up the school. Everyone in my town knew that something needed to be done years ago. I was surprised the building hadn’t collapsed already. You sat in class and looked outside through the cracks in the walls. Most of the town wanted to build a new school at a new site. It would help ease the overcrowding and parking conditions. They could build on at another location with no problem, as it became needed. That dream was shot down when the announcement came that the school would remain where it is. What happened? The two men that would pour money into the new school got to decide where the school went. (the men are not being named so no one is offended that may know them) They were afraid if the school moved from its existing site, the downtown area would lose money. These two men got to decide everything without considering the repercussions. So with this decision, my high school years were forever changed.
Thomas Jefferson was a man who believed that all American citizens need to be educated so that they may exercise their rights. He saw public education as essential to a democracy. One proposal he made for public education would guarantee that all children could attend public schools for three years. However, much like other early school reforms, this proposal received much rejection and was never brought into being. Despite this rejection, Jefferson still believed that America needed public education. Eventually, he opened the University of Virginia. Even though his bills and proposals to benefit public education never saw the light of day, he still made many contributions to public education by providing the foundation on how a democracy should handle educating its

It's quite difficult transitioning from being the biggest to back to being the smallest. In eighth grade, you've finally become comfortable with your peers, the school, and even the teachers, and it's gone in a matter of a couple months. My perception of high school was extremely terrifying because it was an academy where I didn't really know anyone because it was slightly far. It seems so easy when you already know someone at the school because they can help guide you around, but to a zoning that's a twenty minute distance it's difficult. I expected the least, honestly. I knew that the halls would be packed, getting to classes would be confusing, and teachers would continuously give homework, but no one said it would be so much more. Moving
Differences between men and women can affect what they perceive as attractive. Researchers have debated on the qualities that make an individual attractive to the opposite gender. In a study by Mardhekar and Aradhye (2010), researchers found that men rate physical attractiveness and efficacy in domestic abilities to be attractive qualities in women, while women rate education, intelligence, ambitiousness, industriousness, chastity, mutual attraction, and love as attractive traits in men. In addition, intelligence and education were rated as desirable traits in a romantic partner by 70% of both male and female participants. Good health w...

Although our diverse, multicultural society has become much more accepting of physical differences; those associated with ethnicity: an inmate sense of beauty, as well as an ingrained notion of attractiveness, defines the most desirable qualities in a lot of human beings. In reference, “Measuring up to the cultural idea of beauty has become necessary in this competitive, media-saturated world, especially for those in certain occupations.” As soon as the hair turns gray, the likelihood of getting a pink slip or being overlooked for a promotion increases. In the mindset of the man, competition among other men to date the most beautiful women, vice-versa, is quite common. Studies have shown time and time again that individuals tend to choose mates based on how attractive they are, or how they perceive themselves to be. Social scientists attribute much of this behavior to genetics, evolution, and the need to carry on the human race. Looks matter in the first stage of the competition, and attractiveness is a matter of survival, especially for women (Driscoll, Sally). Our society 's preoccupation with youth, beauty, and fitness affects each person differently. Some are oblivious, while others count every new wrinkle or wince every ounce gained. For most individuals body image plays a huge role in self-esteem and helps define others sense of self. Plastic surgeons state

After all, of this success Dell ran into an issue that most businesses run into. They ran out of new ideas for keep growth levels place like before. This was due to competitors figuring out their system and perfecting it for themselves. Other issue was that Dell’s customers were mainly business customers. Other companies were selling to both business and regular

Keller (1903) stated that “optimism is faith that leads to achievement. (p.63). Remaining positive is an aspect that most individuals try to do in their lives. Although some people aren’t as optimistic as others, having a small amount of optimism can be beneficial as well. Even though is not just one definition for optimism, there are some similarities depending on the characteristics of the individual.
Time flies so fast. Looking back, my high school is just like a movie, a lot of things happened. High School is four years of growing up and probably a time in your life where you go through the most changes. In high school you are able to discover yourself and find out who you are as a person. Each year is special and unique in their own way. My journey through high school was a tough one, especially because I decided to not only focus on academic work but also to invest quality time in extra curriculum activities. I wanted more than just academic excellence; I wanted to be a leader, I wanted to add value to every aspect of my life, I wanted a rounded education and not just mere schooling. My success story is what I will like to share with you; how I really made it and how this defines my personality. My journey in High School was scary, exciting, and successful.
