Financial Need
I am applying for this scholarship because I need all of the help that I can get paying for school. This semester I paid for school with a loan and have been working night shifts to pay for housing, food, and what the loan did not pick up. The less of a loan I have to take out the better but right now I had to pay for almost all of my tuition with a loan. Last summer I worked full time had I not been able to get such a good job last summer I would not have had enough money to be able to go to school. I don't want to have such a close call this time. I am working a full time summer job right now but it does not pay as well as my job last summer did and does not provide the overtime hours I would like to have.
My parents were able to help me out this year on one insurance payment when I hadn't gotten my check from work and that stretched them pretty thin. They would like to help more but right now they can't. I don't want to have to ask of them something that they are willing to give but will just make things more difficult for them.
The most important to me in school right now is getting good grades and doing well in all of my classes. At the same time I need to work to have enough money to pay for everything, and this semester I barely had enough to keep going to school. I was very close deciding that I may have to postpone school for awhile, fortunately I found a side-job for a couple of weekends that gave me just enough to keep going. I want to be able to finish my schooling without having to keep delaying it because of money. I believe that this scholarship will help. I will continue to work and do my best to be able to completely support myself and pay for college, but any help that I can get will furthe...

...d set together we would get so happy, when they failed or if someone rejected the message we would be equally devastated. When investigators saw that we cared so much about them, that they mattered to us, it motivated and changed them. These experiences further fueled my desire to help others and I was determined that it would not end once my mission did.
One of the greatest things that I gained on my mission was the ability to see people’s potential, what they can become, and what they can become when the Spirit of God acts in their lives. I learned how much a worthy conduit of that same Spirit can help and how essential the Spirit really is, not only in our church callings but in our everyday lives; it changes and influences our interactions with others. I plan to bring the knowledge I gained from my mission to my professional life so I can better help others.
Although, I had the completely wrong view. I learned that a person is a person regardless of a person's social status or by what they do or don't have. I also realized that even though a mission trip is meant to help those in need, I needed missionaries myself. I realize that even though we help the kids at the Ruidoso orphanage, I feel like they helped me shape who I am as a person in a dramatic way. Whether it was by feeding us lunch to playing a game of soccer with us, they positively affected my life in a huge mental way.
I have learned how to be an optimistic person and spread positivity with others. Recently I went to Puerto Rico to visit my family and there I met a numerous amount of vagrant people who did not have food on a daily basis nor a home to come to after an elongated day. I felt so pleased to be able to bless those individuals with nutrition, water, and clothes. Before I developed into who I am now, I did not have goals and accomplishments, I did not really have a determination in life. Learning who Christ was helped me become more linguistic, kinesthetic and spatial.
I know that through my hard work and dedication I can make my goals a reality. However, it may not be possible without these Scholarships. While my parents will help me in any way they can, I am hoping that my hard work and dedication to my studies pays off. I am a very self-driven individual who will accomplish any goal I set my mind on achieving. I am also aware of how without scholarships I may face a financial setback. I am hoping that through the help of scholarships I will be able to achieve all my goals in a timely
For many years now, advocates for giving out scholarships based only on financial need have been pushing to remove special abilities from the criteria to award the money. This proposed system is already in use in the form of financial aid. Scholarships were created to reward individuals who exhibited talent that would benefit the college. Therefore, the basis for giving scholarships should consist equally of scholastic achievement, athletic ability, and need. Scholarships are in place to reward special talents. They should remain separate from financial aid where the only determining factor is need.
In a world where most college freshmen do not graduate or dropout, i feel like it would mean to much more to me to graduate and be able to say I got my degree. studies have said that half of freshman will not complete there degree, another study said that 25% of freshmen will change their major before they finish their sophomore year. If i was given this scholarship money it would put me in a place where hopefully I won't become just another statistic. Another reason a college degree is important for me to achieve is so that i will be respected in my work industry of choice. When you are in a place of work, there is always someone who everyone looks up to because they know the most about certain things, but more often than not that person has the highest degree in his or her field. If I was awarded this scholarship i would be more capable of being that person because i would not have to worry about leaving school to figure out how I will pay off my
I was able to go on a mission trip to Minnesota Native American Reservation, Squaw Lake when I was 13. I learned the four Spiritual laws, and I accepted Christ through the training. I was able to share the Good News to mostly to teens and kids. His Holy Spirit deeply filled my life, and I wanted to grow my passion for God.
I plan to graduate from College of the Sequoias with an Associate’s Degree in communications and to maintain a grade point average of at least a 3.7. Once I earn my degree, I will transfer to a university where I will begin to work on my master’s degree. With my master’s degree I can pursue my dream of working for Disney Parks in public relations. While I am still a college student, I will apply and hopefully be given the opportunity to participate in the Disney College Program as well as a Disney Professional Internship. These internships will help me to learn more about working in the field of communications, to gain practical experience and to network with individuals who can help me achieve my career goals. A scholarship would be incredibly helpful for me to achieve all that I intend to by allowing me to devote more time to my school work. Since I currently work two jobs, as a tutor and as a sales associate, it is often difficult to find time and energy to complete my schoolwork. If I were to earn a scholarship, it would allow me to work fewer hours a week so that I can focus more of my energy and time on my education. That way, I can get the best grades possible and have the best chance of success in my
Our goal as a church was to go into another community and share the gospel with them but we did it in a unique way, through community service. Together we volunteered in a trailer park to clean up trash, fix gardens, redo roofing, paint and clean trailers. While doing this I meet an old woman who appreciated what we were doing for her and her home and wanted to know why. This gave my small group and I an opportunity to help guide her to Christ and when we left not only did we give her a better and beautiful community and trailer to live in, but we left her with a bible and a thirst to learn more about our God. This experience was important to me because it showed how one can truly make a difference in people’s lives just through serving
In the small communities of northwestern Wisconsin, we typically do not realize how local businesses affect our everyday lives and play an important role in our community. How often do we walk into a business and are greeted by name by one of the friendly employees? Although this does not seem unfamiliar to us, we take for granted this value that comes only from local businesses. The friendly service and close relationships is only one of the many benefits of buying services from a local provider.
This scholarship will help to support my progress in my education here at MSUM in many ways. If I have the opportunity to receive this scholarship, all of the scholarship money will be used directly towards my education costs. This scholarship would help me with textbook and classroom expenses, and tuition. As a sophomore in college, I hold two part-time jobs throughout the school year and work full-time over the summer to make sure that I am able to pay my way through schools and living expenses. Any aide is greatly appreciated and will be put to good use.
I am applying for this scholarship to help me pay for college. As everyone knows it is very expensive and sometimes hard to pay for all the things involved. My family is doing everything they can to help pay for my college. One of the biggest obstacles we have faced is applying for the FAFSA. My parents do make a lot of money, but they both have student loans they have to pay. My mom has two majors so she has a lot of money to pay back to school. While applying to FAFSA, these factors are not taken into consideration so we did not get as much money as we had hoped. If I am selected to win this scholarship, it would be greatly appreciated and would help me in many ways to continue my education.
For this current academic school year, I received a nursing legacy scholarship, as well as a scholarship from the Marine Corp Scholarship Foundation. However, I did not receive enough to help pay for anything other than tuition. Books and room and board are being paid out of pocket, and because this school year in the nursing program is so strenuous, it is hard for me to work enough hours to pay for such things and then have the funds for other necessities such as food. Both of my parents are also going to school full time, and I have two younger siblings at home. My parents help me as much as they can, but given the circumstances I am currently trying to juggle around school, work, extracurricular activities, and other essential
WHen looking back on one’s life it can be hard to pinpoint instances that changed who you are as a person. However for me it is quite easy. Some of the happiest and most influential points of my life were during any of my four mission trips. Alongside members from my Methodist church I had the privilege of traveling beyond the comfort of my home to serve others much more in need than myself. One of these missions in particular had a huge impact on me, shaping my character and altering the way I view the world around me.
...rvice. After three more WorldChangers trips, this passion to be a servant to others has grown to have a deep effect on my work ethic, influencing me to do the best job I can when helping others in order to show God’s love to the fullest. As John Hope Franklin claimed, “I would use my energies to make me a better person.” With the wisdom acquired from experiences like WorldChangers and from fellow brothers-in-Christ like various youth pastors, I’ve gained a purpose behind the efforts put into my hard work.
A global citizen is that who is willing to use its voice and knowledge to make a change. No one would ever be able to make a change in just one day, it is something that takes time and devotion. I’m really interested in diversity and I’m seeking to what is my role is as a world citizen. The fact that I’m searching for an international education is the proof of my desire to establish myself as a global citizen and my interest in the world issues.
