Good morning Professor Waltz and class. Advances in technology enabled nursing professionals to access medical and nursing databases and health information for practice, education and research. But how to find out that the information we use is reliable? According to Lesson 2, there are certain criteria which we should use when evaluating our resources:"authority,information,objectivity,ease of navigation, and privacy and security policies." (CCN, 2016). So let’s evaluate web site and scholarly database.

But also it is very important to find out if this web site is credible, and if we can rely on the information provided. Social media may aldo be used for patient education purposes. According to National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health “Special tools can help you verify that social media accounts are what they claim to be. Some social networking sites have symbols that indicate that an account has been verified. For example, Twitter uses a blue badge. The Federal Government has a tool to verify social media accounts that claim to belong to Federal agencies: http://registry.usa.gov/accounts/verify. Another way to find out whether an account is real is to go to the organization’s Web site and look for a link to the social networking site. That link should take you to the organization’s legitimate account. Additionally, many organizations will include the fact that the platform is “official” in their information.
