Ding! Ding! My phone buzzed and rang, waking me up from dozing off again. It was Hannah. She was finally home and said I could come over whenever now. I thought about waking Patrick up before leaving, but he looked so darn cute and peaceful while sleeping, so I just kissed him on the forehead and quickly whispered my goodbye. It was so dark and quiet outside that I even used my flashlight app on my phone to help me see a little bit better. I started my car and, despite the chilly October night air, turned on the air conditioning on full blast as an aide to keep me awake. While pulling out of Patrick’s driveway, I noticed the time on my radio screen read 12:30 am. I convinced myself that I would most definitely be fine. Besides, I had been …show more content…
My dad jumped out of his old Ford pick up truck and raced over to me. With his strong, concerned arms wrapped around me, he made sure I was not hurt in any way. I reassured him that the wreck did no harm to me, but he had me go sit in his truck to relax anyways. After examining the damage done to the Camaro, Dad’s frustration kicked in. I received a well deserved lecture about decision making and safe driving. I was then given a limit on what hours I am allowed to drive and was told I would not have a vehicle for a while since I was not yet 18 years old yet which meant I could not legally drive a rental car while the Camaro got put in the shop. My father explained to me how lucky I was that my car did not flip due to the short, stubby posts that I collided with. As we both expressed our thankfulness, Hannah pulled up to the scene. Dad was relieved to see her there to comfort me and allowed me to stay with Hannah overnight and encouraged me to try my best to get a decent amount of sleep. My dad exchanged my destroyed tire with my spare and somehow managed to force the car to be drivable enough to make it to my house about three miles away. Once he settled how he would make that possible and the chaos simmered down, Hannah and I went to her house and attempted to
I. Introduction A. Should 16 year old teenagers be able to drive? B. “Those who favor raising the driving age say that statistics show teenagers are more likely to get into accidents than adults. Today’s society appears to be constantly on the go. People seem to be pulled in multiple directions at once. Individuals never appear to have enough time to complete tasks that continually accumulate. It can be difficult to criticize someone that tries to make the most out every minute. Unfortunately, some of today’s drivers show a lack of judgment and trying to perform other tasks, while behind the wheel. People may feel this is best use time while getting to a destination. Occasionally, the small amount of time that people are trying to gain results in a time consuming accident. With modern conveniences that are geared toward an on the go public, individuals appear to be too preoccupied to driving safely.
Driving is something people do everyday. Although many people do it well, some do not, that being said the legal age to drive should be raised to twenty one years of age. The driving age should be raised because teens at the ages of fourteen through twenty should not be behind the wheel for the simple fact that they are just too young and too inexperienced to drive, also someone of that age can get more distracted than a person who is twenty-one or older and has had some time to mature and become responsible enough to operate a motor vehicle. “In the United States, 16–19-year-olds have the highest incidence of motor vehicle deaths among licensed drivers and motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among 15–20-year-olds.” (Haggerty
After the incident, I began doing some research on teenage car accidents at the advice of the officer who had responded to the scene. What I read about and learned was frightening. In 2008 over three thousand teen deaths occurred, either as a passenger or driver in a ...
Teens need to be taught that driving is a task that is complex and demanding. Parents know how much experience a young driver has, and they know exactly how inconvenient it is when they have to drive with their teen everywhere while they have their permit. Teens tend to cause most traffic accidents in adults’ eyes. They are not experienced yet, and often fail to pay attention to others on the road. They often think of a car as being some type of toy, but they do not know how powerful it really is. The driver education programs must be strengthened in order to make sure that students really have safer habits, behind the wheel experience, and by having a better understanding of all the laws on the road.
Disk and drum brakes are the two types used in cars. Drum brakes are very good to have on your rear axel but not as effective on the front where better balance and heat dissipation is a must.
Teenagers are getting back on the roads and behind the wheel meaning the is a higher risk of accidents. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death in 15-to 20-year olds. Automakers are creating ways to make their automobiles safer in order to reduce these deaths. Teenage drivers are inexperienced and need the extra protection to keep them safe if an incident was to occur. Automobile safety features are necessary for the teenage driver to stay protected and alert.
I see what is left of the space needle. But the tip of the needle is implanted into somebodys chest. I keep myself from throwing up all over in the car but it was hard. I somehow managed to keep myself from vomiting. I step on the gas a little more just to speed some things up.
which is why I am giving this speech. If you are prepared and know all of your
This fast, self driving vehicle has been all the rage here lately. Some people are all for it but others are totally against it. People who are all for it are looking forward to the fast car and the time getting cut down so they are not late to work or school. Also they are hoping that there will be little to no traffic, because of how fast and efficient the car will be. People are hoping the car is all its hyped up to be.
For some people, driving can be a form of relaxation, for others it can be an anxiety driven chore. Whatever your feelings on it, driving is a part of our culture and society. Unless you live near everything, or live in an area that thrives on public transportation, then chances are you have to drive at some point. Driving does not have to be a chore that freaks you out every time you are behind the wheel, yet you do need to be aware of the dangers that can occur. This article will look at some of the things that you can do to stay safe while driving.
Drivers 'putting themselves at risk' with lack of maintenance knowledge Some people are putting themselves at a higher risk of facing road traffic accident claims by failing to understand simple car maintenance. Knowing how to ensure a vehicle is roadworthy is essential if drivers are to ensure the car works the way it should do and does not pose a risk to the public, but personal injury solicitors Burnley still regularly see motor vehicle accident claims that relate to poor vehicle maintenance. Recent research has shown that a large number of people do not know how to conduct simple car maintenance tasks, with women in particular struggling to keep their car well-maintained.
This essay is to inform you about certain aspects of driving. In this letter I am going to talk about the effect of response time, a safe following distance, how the stopping distance depends on speed, how to decide what to do at a yellow light and how you have to change your speed around a curve. In the next following paragraphs I will explain each of the topics that I have listed and I will give you a better knowledge of how to be a safer driver.
I am going to give you my thoughts on safe driving, especially in bad weather and increased traffic. Sometimes it can be very scary with all the different things going on. All you have to remember on the roads is watch your speed, keep your distance, and watch your surroundings. When you do these three things you can most likely avoid getting in an accident. I am going to compare the difference in driving in icy weather and hot summer days.
