A Narration of Roxy’s Life
When she was a puppy she must have been the cutest thing you’d even seen. A small little ball of the blackest and fluffiest fur. The truth is, I don’t remember Roxy at all when she was a puppy. She was born on January 27, 2007. According to my sister, who is Roxy’s owner, Roxy was the smallest puppy of that litter of cocker spaniels. Picture this: a happy little ball of completely black fur with the only other color being her bright pink tongue. To this day, Roxy is still a happy, (slightly bigger) ball of black fur with a bright pink tongue and some white hairs on the insides of her long ears and on her chin. My sister, Isabel, and her husband wanted a black puppy, and so they chose Roxy.
At the time, my sister was unemployed. Isabel would take care of her daughter, Mia, and their baby puppy Roxy. It must have been a handful having to watch two babies of different species. Despite this, Roxy grew to be a decently-behaved dog with proper manners. In the span of a few months, Roxy was potty trained and learned basic commands such as “sit”, “lay down”, and “stay”.
Sadly, Isabel got divorced and moved out. To Roxy, the change wasn’t as difficult as it was to Mia, but nevertheless, it was a big change for the doggy. Well, my sister was able to find an

Like most dogs, I suppose, she enjoys having company, she likes chasing after squirrels, and barking at unknown people; and she especially loves barking at unknown dogs and cats. Roxy hates rainy days and she dislikes hot and humid days. When it’s raining outside, she will only stick her nose a few inches out of the porch—where the rain doesn’t hit her fur-- and then she’ll trot back inside. During the humid days, Roxy goes outside, does her business, and runs back inside. By the time she’s back inside, she’s panting as heavily as when we go out for a run. Roxy seems happiest during the chilly autumn
The family adopted Bella as a puppy 11 years ago from the North Shore Animal League.
In the story of “Half Husky” the protagonist Vanessa is shown to be more related to many school students, including my friend James, that we all have numerous responsibilities, but we are often distracted, fail to notice or carry out our responsibilities. As we kids grow older and older we tend to notice more responsibilities placed upon us whether we choose to take on these responsibility or they are circumstantial. This is explained by the relationship that Vanessa has with her pet dog Nanuk. In the story Vanessa begged her grandfather to accept the dog into the family, and in return she said that she would take the duty of taking care of the husky. This situation is reminiscent to the time where my friend James told a story of his own pet
Faye is fighting to re-home animals that have been abandoned and abused. Since 2012 she has re-homed more than 60 dogs, and about 20 kittens. Faye says, “I would do anything no matter what to save one animal.” It’s as if her whole entire life revolves around saving animals. Faye thinks just by adopting an animal you can help animal abandonment. Also, Faye has her own book on why animal abandonment isn’t good. Although Faye thinks her job is stressful, she thinks it’s easy because she enjoys doing her job and helping animals find a home.
For example, one of their dogs, Boris, was able to push Flea around in his wheelchair. The widow asked how Flea had taught him to do that and he claimed “ I didn’t” (27). She felt very unhappy about this because it was her job as the wife to take care of her husband. She felt as if the dogs had taken over the role of caregiver and she was not happy about it at all.
Josie’s story was painful to watch as a mother. I can only try to imagine the pain and anger her family has had to endure. It saddens and angers me personally to know a mother’s concerns were dismissed without a second thought when she knows her daughter better than anyone else. I cannot understand why the nurses and doctors would not address her concerns, no harm comes from taking a few moments to re-analyze the situation. I do not think I could partner with the same people that caused the untimely death of my child. I understand Josie’s family did so to implement a safety protocol to prevent other families from the same fate, and I admire their bravery in doing so. No one should be in a situation where their wellbeing is at risk due to a medical error.
As the novel How to Steal a Dog continues, Georgina, Toby and their mother are now living in a moldy, broken-down house with no water or electricity. This is a slight improvement to their living conditions and was overlooked by the misfortunate events regarding their mother's employment. This motivates Georgina to initiate a plan of stealing a dog to save their financial problems. Moreover, the section of this novel where Georgina's mother got fired really shows how relatable and real the protagonist's situation is. It reminds me of when my father got laid off of his job after working for a company for over 15 years. Not everyone has money and not everyone lives a happy, perfect life. Additionally, Georgina and Toby's relationship is like every
The first time Roxy disguises herself to the reader is in the beginning of the novel. The first time Roxy is introduced is when Wilson overheard a conservation, “Say, Roxy, how does yo’ baby come on? This from the distant voice. Frust-rate; how does you come on, Jasper? This yell was was from close by from close by. Oh, I’s middlin’; hain’t got noth’n’ to complain of. I’s gwine to come a-court’n’ you bimeby, Roxy” (Twain, pg 63). Even though Roxy is recognized as a slave because she has 1/16th black, she is truly revealed to the reader by her language. From this conversation, the reader could assume that Roxy was a black slave, but as Twain explained “From Roxy’s manner of speech a stranger would have expected her to be black, but she was not.” (Twain, pg.63) In fact, Roxy was only one-sixteenth black but did not have the characteristics of a black person, as she had auburn hair and light skin. Since she was born she has been disguised as a slave and not seen as a member of society.
As a young girl, I was never fond of the name Anna. The name came along with too much baggage.. Unknowingly, people would constantly call me the wrong name, and some people, disregarding my opinion, even created strange nicknames for me. Over the years, I have been called a variety of names including Annie, Ann, Anna, Annabelle, Anne Frank, banana, banana boat, etc. Frankly, there are just too many variations of the name “Anna”. Being an extremely common name, almost everywhere I go, whether it be school or the grocery store, I always seem to find another “Anna”. Although nameberry.com tells me that “Anna” means grace, it actually means unique, intelligent, and affectionate.
Now, I know that you are thinking that I am ungrateful, and I’m not! I simply want Mac to have a companion, Chloe and me to have a dog that we can play with, to reduce stress and bad behavior in the house, and for this last reason. According to www.doghealth.com, Children with pets tend to be more balanced and responsible as they mature. Should you have more than one child, having multiple dogs will give each child a special friend. They can learn to be responsible for their special canine friend which, in turn, gives them feelings of confidence and security. We all know that this does not apply to six-year-olds like Chloe, but I will share the responsibility with her if you so desire, to make her a better and more responsible person. I know that this is a lot of information to take in, so here are the basic
...her. The attendants are helping the students gather up the animals and reassure the patients. When all the animal are loaded, the students all say their good-byes and pile into the van. "See you next week," they shout. As the van pulls away from the curb, a plummy, shaggy-haired puppy sadly barks his good-bye through the back window.
Julie Jordan is the main women focused on in the musical Carousel. With that said she is the only character in the show that is not unlike her real world counterpart. Julie fits a stereotypical mold of women of the time but not character women of the time. Her character is intrinsically an antithesis to all other characters surrounding her. Small choices and actions set her unlike those of made by women in the world of the play allow her to become instantly relatable to the women of 1945.

All dogs are unique, but they fit into categories. Every dog has traits that make them an Annie, a Lucy, or a Winnie. All types are good, but certain people fit better with certain types. A lover of animals, I like all dogs, no matter the type. Personalities make dogs fall into different categories.
According to the American Kennel Club, being responsible for any pet is committing to them as much as you would if they were human (AKC). Through the months Skye has had a total of twenty-four weeks in obedience and training classes and became part of the American Kennel Club. During her classes they taught me as her owner that her mayhem is not her fault, and I have to teach her how to act correctly. On top of all my responsibilities for a hyper aggressive dog, I have to make sure that while I am at work, someone is capable of also taking care of her needs. I found a lodging and training daycare that works with Skye on days I drop her off, and my dad is a huge help. Not many people are able to handle my dog, so it is important that I found people that also can help her. Responsibilities for dogs come in all different forms, but these are just a couple ways that I have to specifically take care of my

Unwanted behaviors are simply ignored.”
