Whole Foods Market allows each market to supply products that are standardized, and also supply products based on local buyer needs, as well as the culture of the area; therefore their business strategy is transnational (Thompson, 2016, p. 192). The company strategically chooses its locations, placing them in educated areas, and then focuses on products to sustain a competitive advantage.
Comparing my shopping experience at Whole Foods verses Walmart, I have always had positive experiences at Whole Foods. I admit at first I was hesitant to shop there because I thought their prices would be too high or that they wouldn’t have the items I was accustomed to purchasing. My first experience was shopping for lip balm. I was told they sold a brand that didn’t include camphor phenol and that was important to me. Being that I never shopped in Whole Foods before I immediately asked for assistance in finding the right isle. Not only did they direct me, they walked with me and asked what I was looking for, they showed me the product and even gave me useful information regarding the lip balm. Since that day I have been back many times, not only for lip balm but for a variety of groceries and products. Whole Foods staff is pleasant, enthusiastic and extremely helpful. They are well trained on their merchandise as well as customer service and seem to genuinely enjoy interacting and working at Whole Foods. In addition,
They seem to be a company that enjoys their employee’s success. It is a great reflection on the company that so many people seem to enjoy their position at Whole Foods and feel like that are making a positive impact on both Whole Foods and the customers. Nearly every American has or had shopped at Wal-Mart at some point or another, and we’ve seen the amount of hassle that many of the workers deal with every time we stand in line to checkout. Long lines during the night while short lines in the very early morning, it sometimes appears as if Wal-Mart’s so-called “associates” never stop working. The use of the word “associates” rather than “workers” strikes a hint of deterioration of their purpose of working—that is to get paid. This label established by the firm that proclaims the importance of equality merely sells itself into its own propaganda by cherishingly slashing wages and worker’s benefits because apparently, they’re not workers, they’re associates. To help hardworking Wal-Mart employees
Whole Foods began in Austin, TX in 1980 as a way for people to get the natural foods they desired. After several mergers Whole Foods has grown into a chain with nationwide locations and topped the list in 2013 for the healthiest food store (Paul, 2013). Whole Foods offers choices for those that choose to be health conscious and prefer organic foods and clear labeling on all packaging; they even carry grass fed meats and do not use any artificial ingredients in their baked goods or snacks. In addition they label if an item contains a genetically modified organism, GMO for short.
This article describes how rudeness and incivility causes great damage to everyone in the workplace even if it was only intended at a certain person. One professor at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University states, “Incivility is almost like trapping people inside a fog.” (Gurchiek, 2015, para. 4) In this quote, incivility is explained as something employees are all affected from and are not able to get away from. Moreover, many surveys are presented throughout the article to show how people either lose or quit their jobs because of the rude treatment that they experience in the workplace. Because of those survey results, many experts believe that rude behaviors in the workplace will begin to worsen in the coming years. However, steps to establish an atmosphere of respect and consideration for colleagues are presented at the end of the article to assist with changing that prediction.
Whole Foods is a new addition to the community, which is one of the community advantages instead of going so far to get food and kitchen appliances (Sayre 1). Circle Food Store has been around for so long, and the fact that it has opened back up has given the community hope for a new environment. (Sayre 1)

Working in a grocery store you see many gender inequality situations. For instance, I’ve noticed that the majority of the cashier’s are women, while the men are the ones stocking freight. Many of the co-workers assure that they do not discriminate in any job position whether you’re a female or male, yet the women seem to be doing the easy positions. Although, the majority of managers in departments seem to all be woman and at times seem to be better than the men. As in night crew, all of the employees are men and a single woman is in charge of facing the whole store, yet there is no gender inequality in that scenario. Gender inequality still exist in today’s workplace even if you don’t notice all you have to do is play close attention and you

With such data and information I will recommend, if needed, and strategic changes in order to sustain a competitive advantage.
“ Whole Foods believes meeting the needs of customers and employees translates into more wealth for the investors (542)”. The customers and employees are valuable to the company because they are the key components that help the company generate profit. Employees are the face of the business which can have a positive or negative effect on the operation of the business. If the employees portray an unpleasant aura the effect could be losing customers which is another important component a business needs. A business mainly profits off of its customers because customers exchange their money for whatever goods or services that are being offered.
Working for a great company like Whole Foods is very rewarding because of the benefits the company offers. I work in the seafood/meat departments of Whole Foods. I’ve been working for the company for no more than a year now. I’ve encountered two challenges at work including angry customers and thieves.
