Respect is a very serious topic in teen leadership. It is something that many people value and what everybody should deserve to obtain. Respect means to be observant of the person or group’s beliefs and ideas and not automatically laughing or start talking behind their back. Many people in today’s society struggle with keeping or giving respect to another person and it is a problem. The problem causes many arguments that cause unnecessary arguments and fights. Respect is something that you should give to everybody no matter what they look like or no matter the way they look. Respect can be lost if a person does something that can not be respected like being aggressive with a young student that can not defend him or herself. This is something that can lose a person’s respect from one another. Another famous quote is by Albert Einstein and it says, “Let every man be respected as an individual and no man idolized.” This is a great quote because it explains how everyone should give respect to one another but no one should think one is greater than the other. This relates to respect in the classroom because some people in today’s society think they are better than everyone else based on social class, intelligence and athleticism. Nobody should lose respect based off of how they seem to others or how they compare to others. Everybody is different because of the way they have been brought up into this world but that does not mean they deserve any less respect that another. Most kids were told when they were a kid to treat others the way you would like to be treated. This is an important lesson for many people in this generation because many people treat others today with less respect and not very well or as equals.
