My first reasons would be the socials aspect. I have confidence that my capability to encourage others through faith as well as support will be valuable to others and help me be the best resident leader I can be. I want to work toward becoming the resident leader that others count on. In doing so, I feel I’ll be fully prepared to take on any greater responsibilities which might be present throughout the year. I want to help the students seek to become servant leaders, compassionate peace makers, and Christ centered. The second reasons is the professional aspect. It will give me the opportunity to grow as a leader and teach me skills that will help me advance in my secondary education career. I also believe being a resident leader is one of the best opportunities I can receive on this campus because it will help me become more connected to the students at a deeper level and get to know the resident life staff members better. …show more content…
The past experiences that will be helpful to me as a resident leader would be my role as the eldest in my family.
I was in charge of three sisters in my family and learned a lot throughout the years. I took a mediated approach to conflict. I believe it’s important to listen to both sides and understand where each is coming from. There is usually some common ground among conflict and start there and build. I shared my best practices and constantly observed their progress to celebrate their success and move them in the right direction. I prepare by ensuring that I could answer any questions that may be asked, or have the resources to find the answers. I listen to my sisters concerns about any issue and help them through the transition. A campus experience that also helped me was being an orientation guide for international students. I tried building a strong bond with the person, gave advice, listened to their goals, and my personal experiences. I listen to others worries about the transformation and help them through the
transition. The way I have demonstrated a commitment to the “GC Commitment to Community Standards” is I have accepted my classmates as well as faculty regardless of social or economic class, gender, color, religion, ethnicity or nationality, and sexual orientation. I support an environment of mutual respect and accountability, to care for the personal dignity of others and to have honesty in their conduct and communication. I have not been involved in illegal drugs, firearms-fireworks, fraud, tobacco use, violence or threats of violence, vandalism, serious intent, and theft. I have showed honesty to others on campus and believe that all humans beings are made in the image and likeness of God.
What experiences have you had which prepare you for this position (e.g perhaps as an employee, leader, or working with people different from yourself, etc)?
During the last three years I have devoted a significant amount of time and energy to the betterment of young entrepreneurs, who in this country are mistreated, stripped of opportunities, and looked down upon. In my quest to start my own business, I faced many obstacles that I later found to plague all entrepreneurs in my country. Established family heads discourage their younger members from starting separate businesses; they would rather their younger members join them in the so called "safe business." Moreover, companies and government organizations will not award contracts to young people since older people earn respect for their age rather than their ideas in this traditional sub-continental culture. With an uncooperative family and no sources of funding, young entrepreneurs face little chance of success.
The idea of what’s morally right and wrong changes within each culture whether an organizational culture or between individuals. However, the best leaders are the ones who do what’s right and best for the organization. During this research paper I will attempt to define the term leadership style and its concept. Moreover, I will attempt to describe three leadership styles, the development and the process one would follow to modify their leadership style. When pertaining to myself, I never saw myself as a leader but I will attempt to describe my leadership style and the advantages and disadvantage I would have in a business environment.
While due to the reason that Authentic Leadership is still in the formative phase, the textbook by Northouse provides different definitions of this type of leadership depending on the viewpoints that make this leadership style very broad compared to other more defined leadership styles, I do find Authentic Leadership as a compelling theory. While it is a broad style, it is also very complete by having different approaches that fulfill the goal of explaining the different components of this style. This leadership style has four skills need as Northouse (2016) describes that “ it is important for leaders to have self-awareness, an internalized moral perspective, balanced processing, and a relational transparency to be authentic” (pg. 206), as
Leadership is the ability to persuade and guide others for building and attaining the common goal (Gregoire & Arendt, 2014). Proper direction and control over the activities are basic necessity to achieve the target. Walshe, Kieran & Smith (2011) suggested that there are many intricate strands has involved in health which makes the leadership endeavour complex. Healthcare organizations are struggling with financial problems, consumer demands, safety & quality of healthcare etc. Al- Sawai (2013) suggested that while designing a management structure. There is voluminous literature on leadership theories available. With the time, old theories have been rejected and new theories has been accepted. Analysis of three leadership theories have been given here.

Since elementary school I have been in Celina's Boy Scout Troop 69. Starting as a Tiger cub and after many years eventually becoming a Boy Scout. 10 years later it is my last year of being a Boy Scout and I will be aging out in April. From building fires, tying knots, and learning first aid, scouting has taught me life skills that I will never forget. The greatest lesson of all though has to be grasping the skills of being a leader. The character and roles of a leader are very important for everyone to understand. But they can also be hard to grasp. I was 16 and decided to run for the position of SPL or Senior Patrol Leader. The SPL is in charge on all troop activities and is tasked with running things smoothly. The

It is often said that some people are born leaders. However, I believe that my leadership skills have not necessarily been innate, but one that I have gradually learned and developed.

A leader is described as a person who guides others and has authority and influence over others. They work to influence others into meeting certain goals. There is no right or wrong definition of a leader and there is no recipe that ensures effective leadership. Successful leaders have a good balance of vision, influence, and power. Leaders gain their authority from their ability to influence others to get the work done; because of this, anyone has the potential to be a leader. (Finkelman. 2012, p15)
An authentic leader is someone who over the years has developed a unique vision; a person who is respected, not only because they are expert in their field, but is also respected because of their humility. An authentic leader is someone who is open to hear ideas other than their own ideas; someone who fosters creativity in a team. An authentic leader is someone who also sets clear expectations for the vision they have and along the way challenges their employees to achieve more than they even though was possible, but will those accountable who are not on board with the vision and expectations set forth. Lastly, an authentic leader is someone who will face and have to make difficult decisions without compromising core values.
There are a few different types of well known leadership styles, authoritarian, delegative, and democratic. To assess my leadership style I used two online tests to help me determine my style. I felt the results were accurate and I fall into a democratic style/participative style. If I am leading I prefer to include the group and get their feedback on solving issues. However, I still make the final decision after listening to the thoughts of the group on a particular topic. This is considered to be a positive style of leadership that is inspiring to the group involved. The leaders decision making tends to be more accurate due to the input of other experts. (Cite)
