While also becoming the first resource and helping residents deal with the situation that transfers through different phases of their lives , whether it's roommate or personal issues that plague every college student. This Also can bring my residents together ,to create
The reason why I want to become an Orientation Leader is because I see this as something that I am naturally attracted to. By becoming an orientation, I will possess the opportunity to make a batch of new friends. In the process, some of the relationships that I establish can transform into a lifelong bond. I feel like as an orientation leader, I will become a member of the unique community of orientation staff and create a bond that I can carry with me throughout my time here at Winthrop.
Imagine the senior year of high school when students are poised to enter college and become adults. It's a time of responsibility, of being on one's own, and of shaping lives by making daily decisions. One of the major decisions is where to attend college. Should a person stay close to home and attend an in-state school where people and even campuses are somewhat familiar? Or should the decision be to start a completely new chapter in one's life by attending a college farther away, with totally new challenges? I believe the answer is definitely to leave town.
A collaboration of community, cultural awareness, leadership skills and peer helping skills are some of the traits necessary to be a successful Resident Advisor. During the Leadership Workshop, I learned new methods of improving all areas that have changed my outlook on what it takes to be an RA. I will carry all my experiences and the material I have learned in the workshop and use the knowledge I gained whenever necessary.
I have established a relation with my primary physician, and he has agreed to act as my mentor and help me in any way he can. As odd as it may sound, I feel at home when I am in a hospital, going to medical school and obtaining a position that will allow me to be that figure and do everything in my ability to help others is exactly what I want to do. Gaining insight into the medical field was not only an important step that should be taken before entering graduate school it became a personal goal. I have been volunteering in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Sutter Medical Center and I am constantly learning new things from all of the staff that I come in contact with. I look forward to going to every shift I have. Although I am not qualified to do many things that the staff do, I do what I am allowed and enjoy every moment of it. This experience that I am going through strengthens my desire to go to medical school. I want to learn more and be able to help others in everyway I am capable of. I know that medical school is a large and hard task and working in any position in the medical field is not always a happy thing, not everyone can be helped or saved. However, you can do your best to keep them comfortable and be a guiding hand during the process. Through every high point and low point I want to be the kind of person who will help make others
I got to attend a class to see how CNAs put residents’ information into a system called Answers on Demand (AOD). A lot of the meetings I got to sit in on had nurses in them and since nurses are the ones taking care of the residents on a daily basis, I get to learn how they form bonds with them. I didn’t get to spend any one on one time with a nurse and that’s the only thing I regret not taking advantage of. I got to spend time with the Director of Clinical Services and she informed me of what she provides to the clinical team and an overview of what she does. In the social services area, I got to work closely with the independent living social work team because they were under Resident Services. I got to observe the independent living weekly meetings and the combined social work meetings bi-weekly. I spent time in Assisted Living and Parsons Health Care (PHC) care planning meetings, so I got to see how the meetings were conducted with the residents/families and staff. When I sit in on the meetings, I get to see the process of how the social work team will get the resident to transition through the continuum of care. For food service, I met with the Director of Dinning and he gave me a general overview of the dinning facilities with WCR. Then I met with the Supervisor of Parsons Health Center and she showed me the main kitchen where all the residents’ food is made. Next, she showed me how the food is delivered to each dinning room in Assisted Living (AL) and PHC. After the food gets to the dinning rooms, they are then taken out the insulated carts and then temperature checked. Then the residents get to pick out what they want for their meal and the staff will serve it to them, making sure to check their dietary
Academic advising plays a huge role in students’ lives and it is a share responsibility between the student and their advisors. There are many ways in which advising benefit students. There are many positive effects of having an advisor in your college career. However, many students these days do not take an advantage of this resource due to lack of Advising communication and others. Although the advising office and the advisors lack several skills, such as good communication, not enough time spent with students, and limited knowledge. However, there are many positive effects of having advisors
You will be put into this eminent position only if the officials of your Institution trust you to be a great promoter of the Institution and if they think that, you are capable enough. You are also well regarded by your supervisors, faculties, other students, and their parents. They trust you to be their proficient guide throughout the campus life. You will be the person called in to solve problems among the student community, to organize events such as graduation day, guest invites, etc.
Everyone beware! She’s magnificent as you will see, she has the beauty, but that doesn’t define her. What makes her unique and quite charming is that her ambitions will always be her top priority. I have thought about being a residential designer since middle school, and I am determined to follow my luxurious dreams. When I was younger I can remember going out with my parents, and looking at the gorgeously built houses, I would always wonder about checking out the housing designs. While being a residential designer looks very unproblematic, there are many things that has to be done to be a official designer. “We are looking for a right-brained Architect to perform all phases of architectural work including planning,
Well I think what motivates me the most is my drive to want to help new students feel involved on campus. When I first arrived here, I didn't really know anyone and I was really nervous about the new environment I was in. But every time I would see my RA he was always really nice to me and made me feel welcome. Also the events that he would throw on our floor would create a way for me to get out of my comfort zone and go and meet new people. So like my RA, I want to help students feel more comfortable when they're making the transition to college and maybe help them feel more confident to participate in social events. From being an RA, I hope to gain some experience when it comes to leadership and also some experience with planning events and being creative. Skills that I would bring to the job would be my sensitivity and experience with
... to help you on a subject your not having the best of luck in. Roommates should be there to motivate one another and grow closer. Not to fight like five year olds, or kick each other out. It can be easy to void problems, and that’s by not starting them. Everyone needs to have in mind; College is an important time in your life. Be excited to actually be at college, and be excited of the change from home. Take a chance, have an open mind for many college graduates, best memories include their roommate. But always remember that a dorm room is just like a democracy, if a roommate can't compromise then it's going to be there loss, because they will not win.
Over the summer of 2016, I had the amazing opportunity to be a summer RA in Unit 2. During my time as a RA, I discovered how passionate I am about building a sense of community in the residence halls and supporting my fellow peers. From simply saying hi to my residents to navigating more serious situations to hosting events, I was able to construct a welcoming and inclusive community. In turn, I had the chance to learn about them, connect with them and encourage their personal growth! As the summer closed, I reflected on my experience and I realized that I had also grown-- as a student, leader, and person all over the course of only two months! I strengthened my time management and organizational skills, I employed leadership skills every day,
As expected, it is probably the most arduous role I have yet taken on. It is one that lays upon me a great deal of pressure to excel and to achieve greatness in life. Being a student means being able to work under pressure, getting adrenaline rushes before tests or doing a project, and every so often deal with overwhelming stress. Vigorously, it means being able to cope with a changing environment that tests you to exceed your limit and challenge your knowledge.Being a college student enables you to create friendships and relations which will last a lifetime, and most it paves the road to what our professional careers will be. This role has also allowed me to discover who I am and what I want from
One of the main branches of students affairs is the community director in the residence hall. The directors duty is look after the residence and overlook the work RA does in the residence hall. I interviewed the community director on my hall who represents students affairs to get an even better view on how students affairs work. The name of my community director is Kristopher Little and as a residence I respect the work he do and the how approachable he is makes him a great member of students affair department. And as a students of a prestigious institution I greatly appreciate the work students affairs do for as in a whole and how they help other students with their troubles is highly respectable.
