Research Framework 3 Research Methodology: 3.1 Research philosophy: The philosophy of research can be divided into two broad methods of reasoning; deductive and inductive researches. These two methods of reasoning are different in a way to conduct research. Inductive reasoning is more open-ended and used to understand of new or unknown phenomena. The theory usually follows data and the finding is difficult to replicate. In contrast, deductive reasoning is narrower in nature and is concerned with testing or confirming hypotheses. This study employs deductive research. It begins by examining theories related to leadership and e-commerce. The hypothesis is developed by the assumption that the level of e-commerce adoption depends on the characteristic of leader in the organization. The study also applies quantitative research, which data will be collected through questionnaire. 3.2 Data collection Method: There are two types of data available when conducting a research: primary and secondary data. Primary data is the data that researchers collect by themselves. The main advantage is that the data are directly collected toward the purposes of the research at hand. However, the disadvantage is that it will take a long time to collect the data. It also costs a lot and probably difficult to access the right respondents. This study employs survey technique as a tool to conduct a quantitative study. In developing questionnaire I got help from my supervisor and literature review especially Kittipong (2005) and Donald Clark (2010). Self-administered questionnaire was developed and sent to selected sample via email and by hand with respect to approach and convenience. The questionnaire was divided into thre... ... middle of paper ... ...rce services would dramatically increase in the near future. Further Research: According to my limited knowledge there is no other study conducted on this topic in Pakistan. It means there is room for it and it requires more research. Due to limited time I couldn’t have the appropriate sample. So this study can be conducted with big sample to get representation of whole Pakistani organizations. This study can be done in different perceptive. 1. By changing the data collection instrument Leadership questionnaire. There are other instruments available to measure leadership style. 2. This study measure attitude about advantages of e-commerce, disadvantages can be included. 3. Leadership style is not only factor to adopt e-commerce .Others factors can be included in the model like education, revenue, market share, size of the company and customers’ perception.
They further stated that most leadership forms a new paradigm for understanding both the lower and higher order effects of leadership style. The style of leadership which is adopted by a leader is influenced by the leader’s background, personal experience, religion, political affiliation, ideology, inclination, culture and even orientation without necessarily being based on the dynamics of the situation. The major leadership constructs consist of transformational leadership, transactional leadership, and lazzirfair leadership others that are going are common are democratic and autocratic types of
Eisenhower’s definition of leadership is veracious in every single word, particularly in the context of business. Leadership has an influence on all the facets of business. There are many different theories of leadership, however, through this essay, transformational leadership theory will be analyzed, focusing on the three main components: idealized influence, inspirational motivation and individualized consideration. “Transformational leadership is defined as a leadership approach that causes change in individuals and social systems. In its ideal form, it creates valuable and positive change in the followers with the end goal of developing followers into leaders” (Al-Harthi, A. S., Al-Shehri, O. A. M. and Al-Khatib, A. J., 2013, p.155). Besides, the essay efforts are also made a relation to Steve Jobs, Ex-CEO and co-founder of Apple Inc, with this theory. An attempt will be made to evaluate Steve Jobs leadership styles following transformational leadership theory in the specific way under the three main components were listed above of this theory. After viewing the literature on the leadership theory relevant to Steve Jobs case, based on the frameworks it will be argued how well Jobs’ decisions and actions are made.
Each different branch of leadership has a multitude of criteria and reasons that are beneficial to follow each. For the purpose of this examination focusing on the three main styles of leadership will be beneficial on top of focusing its use of them by professional leaders. Each style has their own pros and cons allowing one to understand how they can be beneficial or hurtful to any company. Professional leaders are able to represent the use of these styles and how they can alter the progress of a business or team.
Before we can do a proper analysis of the leadership styles, we need to first answer the question, how do we define what leadership style is? The answer is simple, “Leadership style is the style that a leader adopts in their dealings with those who follow them.”(Kippenberger, 6)
The authors of this article have outlined the purpose, aims, and objectives of the study. It also provides the methods used which is quantitative approach to collect the data, the results, conclusion of the study. It is important that the author should present the essential components of the study in the abstract because the abstract may be the only section that is read by readers to decide if the study is useful or not or to continue reading (Coughlan, Cronin, and Ryan, 2007; Ingham-Broomfield, 2008 p.104; Stockhausen and Conrick, 2002; Nieswiadomy, 2008 p.380).
Presently, most organizations emphasize extremely about leadership in organizations. Leadership means that ability, capability, and skills of leader to guide members of organizations to success or achieve objectives and destination. Leadership studies are interesting in several organizations. According to Walters (2009), “Leadership has been an intriguing and important part of human interactions for as long as people have lived and worked together in groups” (P.1). Some organizations have studied about leadership for long times to know what elements and significant factors of leadership is. Those elements will help leaders to have ability, capability, and skills to suggest members of organizations or being leaders efficiently.
The objective of the study is to answer the research questions rather than tests or formulate hypothesis. The measurements will be in terms of transcripts from interview and the theory was not inclusive, therefore this will allow the analysis to be extracted from the themes of evidence collected via interviews to be presented as consistent. Therefore explaining why qualitative research methodology was chosen.
The research carried on both quantitative approach and qualitative approach. It began with quantitative approach—questionnaire. Bryman and Bell (2003) asserted that mail or postal questionnaires are most popular forms of questionnaires. Another form—self-completion questionnaire was also common because of the overlap with postal questionnaire to some extent.
Previous research affords various prospects into understanding problems and solutions occurring within the field of business management. Research methodology gives leaders the ability to understand how internal and external factors affect their organizations and offers solutions to correct or redirect resources to potentially enhance and further their competitive advantage (Daft, 2012). Through the gathering of such research, leaders advance their potential for solutions supportive of current and past problems while supporting the ultimate goal of competitive advantage.
The research was designed using qualitative model based on exploratory design. This was done to facilitate multi-faceted study with a broader prospective. Basic percentage analysis was done to supplement qualitative analysis. The study was conducted with the help of a Questionnaire. To deepen the understanding data was collected from a variety of books, Internet web pages, and articles of different kinds conducted was descriptive in nature. In order for leaders to be effective in various roles and changing environments in their personal lives and occupations, they must acquire knowledge of different styles and theories of leadership. "Debate is common about which leadership style is most effective. The answer, of course…it all depends" (Kohntopp, 2012). Through completing the leadership assessment to determine how personal characteristics categorize into Kent University’s leadership styles, and comparing the classification of these various styles as they pertain to personal experience, one can determine what characteristics to utilize dependent on specific scenarios. ...i. e. mail). The reasons for the aforementioned selection were also provided in a detailed manner. Issues relating to data analysis were then discussed in detail. It was concluded that a number of statistical techniques such as factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA, ,X 2 test, discrisminant analysis, linear and logistics regression analysis are found to be utilized to test the survey instrument for data analysis purposes. This chapter also describes about the qualitative and quantitative analysis using N Vivo software and Excel spread sheet. This chapter thoroughly covered the three essential components of survey research approach. 'Instrument development and its validation' was briefly introduced. The next Chapter 6 will describe the ‘development and validation of the survey instrument’ which is considered to be important and essential for a reliable data collection.
Primary marketing research is collected for the first time if the company has enough money to finance it, but in most case it is the second more accurate one. It is original and collected for a specific purpose, or to solve a specific problem. Primary research delivers more specific results than secondary research, more expensive and time consuming, which are an especially important consideration when the company is launching a new product or service. There are many ways to conduct primary research. By customizing tried-and-true approaches, focus groups, surveys, field tests, interviews or observation, you can gain information about your target market. Primary research is generally based on sampling techniques and requires statistical methodologies. The sample size could be as small as 1 percent of the market and thus the information and results gathered are highly accurate.
According to Jenkins (2009), a leader must be able to influence, motivate and empower others to contribute toward the effectiveness and success of the organization. The use of right leadership style is also paramount to influence the effectiveness of change in the organization.
