Leaders in general are a significant part of the follower’s success on and off of the result charts. As we know, there are people who lead much better than others. The question then becomes, what makes this leader different? Or even, what makes this person a leader? And what is setting him/her apart from the rest of the leaders? And the answer is their individual leadership style determined by certain traits. In terms of the context of what is significant to the leadership that has taken place in my life, we will be analysing and unpacking transformational leadership as my primary leadership type along with servant and transactional leadership traits seen in the works of someone significant in my life.
Before we can do a proper analysis of the leadership styles, we need to first answer the question, how do we define what leadership style is? The answer is simple, “Leadership style is the style that a leader adopts in their dealings with those who follow them.”(Kippenberger, 6) …show more content…

The way in which a person who possesses servant leadership is doing this is by helping an individual use their particular talents in a way to benefit society/the goals. (Schermerhorn, 355) “Leadership is an act of service, and the more responsible the leadership position, the more complete the obligation to serve.” (Farnsworth, 15) It is important to remember that any kind of leadership is a service to others. You are essentially doing what they are not able to do (from an organizational perspective).
And last, the transactional leadership style is concentrated on maintaining the general execution of working towards goals. Transactional leaders tend to display positive and negative reinforcement, (reward or punishment) to motivate the follower to perform at their best more frequently. When we see the word “transaction” it is referencing the giving of rewards/punishment for good or bad
