Attendance and punctuality are some of the key factors for increasing productivity and output in any business. To solve this problem, the company management must investigate the environment of the workplace. They must investigate the employees’ needs and take necessary measures to solve the problem.
Overview of Alternatives
In solving the problem of absenteeism and lateness, the best solution should address the employees’ needs and make them have the zeal to regularly attend to their workplaces. One of the possible solutions is the development of a rewarding scheme. Giving rewards to employees who regularly come to work on time can give positive results. Rewarding employees will make them feel appreciated and will send a signal of disapproving employees with poor marks. This can include bonuses, holidays or awards.
Another possible solution is conducting a survey to determine employee satisfaction and making adjustments accordingly. Some employees do not report to work because of the workplace environment. After identifying the employee satisfaction, the management can make adjustments such as offering activities for employees to enjoy during breaks. Based on the employees’ interests, a pool table in the dining room can reduce work related stress, making the working environment more interesting and

Interview research method will therefore be appropriate for getting one on one discussion with the employees. This will allow the employees to open up and tell the reasons for their absenteeism and lateness at work without fear. Another suitable research method that will be used is questionnaires. Well structured questionnaires will be administered to all employees. This will enable the gathering of specific information that interviews may not address since some employees may not be willing to share the information face to face. The workplace is a very sensitive place, especially in businesses. The workers need to be motivated by their bosses to do work properly. Otherwise, they get demoralized. The managers should not be harsh in correcting mistakes since mistakes are bound to happen in any scenario. The manager should have a democratic way of communicating with the employees, this way they become free and the job environment becomes conducive. It is evident in job-friendly environments that jobs are well done and profits increase.
Therefore, the desired output of the department was still satisfied. Yet, some employees who were not in the main group were slack off and misused the system even during the peak period, which potentially resulted in internal conflict in the department. Thus, in order to motivate employees and prevent the dishonesty, we propose to remove punch in-out system and launch a better payment system with both financial and non-financial incentives. Also, the working environment should be improved with various campaigns to enhance the unity in the department. We also move an employee who could not perform fully his talent to other department to maximize his capacity.
A great work environment is essential to employee morale. When there is low morale there is a lapse in productivity. The main objective of business is higher productivity which equates to higher profits.
Have an independent team look into the working conditions – The management should engage the services of a third party to look at the organizations working conditions and make any recommendations to improve the same. The company should also consider engaging a government agency to help in reviewing the working conditions in the company. Government teams are great and will inspect how workers feel under new working conditions and advise accordingly on how to improve. In addition, the company can seek to have certifications like ISO certification, which will give employees or prospective employees’ confidence with the company. When the company engages the services of a third party, they are able to have a different outlook and therefore opinion and thereby are in a good position to have an honest review of the working conditions of the company. On September 15th at 2000, I had a counseling session with MIDN 2/C Jones (he asked that I not use his name) regarding his occasional absence from Morning Quarters Formation. I started the sit down session by first addressing the reason why I had asked to talk to 2/C Jones and why I thought it was important. I then asked 2/C Jones what his reasons were for sometimes not showing up to Morning Quarters Formation. 2/C Jones explained that he usually goes, but when he does not it is normally because he was up late working on homework the night before and needed rest. He brought up a supporting fact about how the Commandant keeps insisting that the Midshipmen need more sleep, which I agreed with him is true. I then asked him if he felt that formation was important or not. He began to explain why it was not that important to him, and then after he finished, I gave the reasons why it is important, especially as a significant leader to the 4/C in the Company
This case study was about the president of Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, a restaurant chain specializing in seafood, whose practice structure and secret to success was to have and maintain minimal management turnover. In fact, his focus on turnover was so successful that he did not have a general manager leave for 3 years, and he has decreased management turnover from 36% to 16% in 2 years. Some professors in universities and some departments have very tight polices related with attendance. There are many universities and colleges in the world which doesn’t consider regular attendance in their grading part system. Sometime if the professor knows about the excessive number of times the student was absent they will mark the name of student and the final grade of that class is lowered. This topic is an issue of debate all over the world. Some people support this rule while other is against this rule. In this paper, I have presented many arguments in favor of strict attendance policy while some arguments are against the strict attendance policy. Students in college and universities are matured enough to take their own decision (Bastedo,

...n organisations of lack of job satisfaction and productivity amongst unmotivated employees, and related the problem to the risk of turnover. Conflict, absenteeism and stress were identified as major causes of loss of job satisfaction and productivity, potentially increasing the the loss of staff. The solution proposed was to implement additional training and performance pay. It was argued that training in the workplace improves an employee’s sense of worth and self-esteem, by increasing their skills and thus contribution to work efforts. This raises productivity, and in addition improves job satisfaction. Performance pay was advocated as a means of developing the organisation to support motivated and capable employees. Self-disciplined workers would receive recognition for output, improving job satisfaction; as well as financial incentive, keeping productivity high.
Employees today are bombarded with so many tasks that they become inefficient. When given so many projects to finish, people are compelled to multitask because of their workload that keeps piling up. Companies should remind the managers to only give employees a manageable workload or only one project at a time. If they did this, they would find their employees to be more productive. Also, employees should be encouraged to take breaks away from their workspace. If they take their break say at their desk, then they will be more tempted to use the phone or send emails, when they should be relaxing. Managers should also provide their employees with the correct time management skills. When employees lack the skill of time managements, they often make up their lost time with multitasking, which leads in low quality work. Overall, have a more organized and relaxed employee will create a more productive

If staff are absent from work they are not able to carry out the functions for which they have been employed. In many businesses, these functions have to be taken on by someone else - if not, the customer could suffer. Reducing absenteeism is an important feature of human resource management. The extent to which absenteeism affects businesses has been a topical feature. Not only does absenteeism cause problems, but employers are beginning to recognise the effects of 'presenteeism' - staying at work when you are ill or because you believe that in some way your 'presence' will help boost your promotion prospects.
Attendance is a crucial aspect of a student’s education. When a student is tardy or absent, this interferes with them receiving the information given in class. Class introductions that include instructions, objectives, due dates, etc. may be missed if a student is tardy and if a student is absent, they may also get behind on their class work and homework. Communication between teacher and students about the classroom management procedures for these two things are important so that students are informed and are able to take the initiative to gather what they have missed which can help avoid them falling behind. If tardies and absences are frequent, a teacher may begin to be concerned and question what could be the possible reasons behind it, whether that be an outside force in a student’s life or something that may be happening in the teacher’s own classroom. Establishing a relationship and reflecting upon oneself as a teacher to why the class might be having
