In a careful examination of the author’s non-denominational church’s understanding and statements on ordained ministry, evidence shows an acknowledgement is before a community of believers. The acknowledgement is that a person has been called into ministry for the Lord. The process proceeds into a time spent in prayer and mentoring with the presiding Pastor. It is during these times a person’s calling is subject to be tested, fostered, confirmed, or its understanding modified. One can consider this challenge a part of training in the service to God. God allowed his Son, Jesus Christ to be tested in the wilderness. The same will be likewise to all other servants of God. The devil does not see this act of service to the Lord as a lost battle, …show more content…
The author’s thoughts pertaining to an ordained ministry is recognizing having victory in life with God. God has called, chosen, and acknowledge a person of faithfulness for His service. His recognition of me was like that of Prophet Jeremiah. He stated to Jeremiah “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations” (Jer. 1:5, NASB). God’s statement to Jeremiah tells me that I was planted as a seed for His purpose and glory. God placed emphasize on, “before I formed you” which indicates I was not yet formed to a called into an ordained ministry. I was a part of a ministry, not an ordained ministry, because I had not developed a relationship with him. As an illustration, one can use a tree as example. A tree does not take root until it connects with the soil and nurtured with water. A person called into ministry is not connected to the ordained ministry unless connect to God and baptism into the Trinity. The call of an ordained ministry is spiritual, because it is a creative act of God. Jesus Christ’s proclamation is a written as ordination for all ministries unto the Lord. He states, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of the sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed” (Luke 4:18, NASB). The proclamation relates to the called, because some people are living without God on their way to hell. To acknowledge the called into an ordained ministry is stating one’s appointed is for such a time as this, for the Lord and His

“The call is something that is an indescribable joy and an indefinable burden at the same time.” (Bryant and Brunson 2007, 32). There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a congregation of the redeemed moving forward in their faith. However exciting this may be, it is usually not the thrill that propels the pastor in his service. It is the burden placed on the pastor by God that compels him in his work. The pastor understands that he is largely responsible for the work of God being accomplished by his faithfulness to his calling. “All through the Word of God and down through the annals of history, when God has moved it has almost always been attended by the preaching of the Word.” (Bryant and Brunson 2007, 31)
“First, there is the call to be a Christian. Second, for each individual there is a specific call—a defining purpose or mission, a reason for being. Every individual is called of God to respond through service in the world. Third, there is the call that we face each day in response to the multiple demands on our lives—our immediate duties and responsibilities” (Smith, ...
Philosophy of Ministry: God's desires come first, I must always live my ministry God's way. I must live as a Christian (1 Corinthians 9:27) I must have a proper relationship of surrender to the Leader. In my personal life or in the Church I must understand that Christ is Head and Chief Shepherd (Ephesians 1:22, Hebrews 13:20). The “management” of Church is about relationships with God and Man, not just maintaining a social organization.
You may be believing that You ought to have some ministry entryway open at this point. You ought to be in some position at this point similarly as your occupation is considered or that You ought to have accomplished something at this point. Try not to lose heart. Keep in mind, God has you in His quiver.stay hidden in the quiver," just to be released soon straightforwardly at a bull's-eye when God's strong right hand

In ministry it is important to note that the different people involved in your ministry will be at different stages of their spiritual growth. Having an awareness of your own personal theology will be important for how you go about teaching the students who are involved in your youth ministry. One part of personal theology is spiritual formation. Duffy Robbins states that spiritual formation is, “the growing into the likeness of Jesus” (448). Another main part of personal theology is community. Understanding and having an idea of both spiritual formation and community helps with the formation of personal theology of ministry. This paper will share five areas of theology and how they relate to practical theology in youth ministry. The five areas of theology include view of God, view of people, view of sin, view of redemption, and view of scripture.
The purpose of Ministry Calling is to glorify, to submit, to serve, and to please God.
It is essential that the maturing child be carefully nurtured in spiritual development and intentionally taught about the Christian faith and the life of discipleship. Otherwise, the baptismal grace will be like seeds sown on stony ground” (Felton 1997). Before the infant can be baptized; the Pastor need to be sure they will be nurtured by parents, grandparents, guardians and the church. However, if there is not an environment where the child can be nurtured and grow spiritually, then the baptism should not take place. The Pastor should postpone the baptism until the appropriate age or the child becomes age where they understand the significance of the baptism.
One’s vocation is not freedom from constraints to pursue self-enrichment; rather, it is a selfless giving for others by extending the boarders of God’s kingdom through proclaiming and demonstrating it in every area of life (Setran & Kiesling, 2013). Thus, as Holmes (1987) explained, it extends beyond a chosen career path or the work a person is paid to do; it takes the cultural mandate in Genesis and paints a vision of “work as stewardship of God’s creation in service to others” (p. 38). Because vocation answers the question, “Whose am I?” and “What is my purpose?”
The mission statement of the United Methodist Church ties in with Matthew 28:19-20 (CEB) as Jesus tells his disciples “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” This is the charge that Jesus gave to all people, not just to ministers. The commandment was for all believers to make disciples of all people regardless of their sex, race or where they live. “Jesus did not tell us to go into the world and discover disciples or evoke disciples” thus indicating that we are not born as disciples but are developed into disciples. A pastor therefore, “works with Christ to form the church.”
In preparing for the priesthood there are four main areas of study: the human, the spiritual, the ability to minister, and the academics. Spirituality is the study of prayer on an individual basis. The ability to minister is performed in supervised programs. While a man is at college he would take his ordinary courses plus his religious courses. After college he enters theology where h...
Another aspect of pastoral ministry is that every pastor is unique. God has gifted each pastor differently and with his own style. It is imperative that a pastor use the gifts that he has to bear witness about Christ. It is also important to preach Christ and not self. It is crucial that a pastor understand who he is, accept himself, and to develop the gifts given by God. Too often, preachers compare themselves to others and envy what they do not have. That is dangerous and sinful. One must accept the gifts given by God and to use them for His glory.
