My personal worldview explains the way I view and live life through the assumptions and beliefs I hold in response to the world around me. I believe I was created for a specific reason and purpose. What do I believe to be true? I believe that God exists and that he is the creator of everything that exists. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, John 1:1” (NIV). This is biblical proof that God exists. The verse that explains that God has always existed is, “Revelation 22:13, I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End” (NIV). God has been alive forever, since before my start and before the start of everything I know. God is the originator of creation itself. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, Genesis 1:1” (NIV). God created the heavens, earth, animals, humans and everything else that exists in six days and rested on the seventh day as stated in the Bible. “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Matthew 6:26” (NIV). God created me and takes care of me day by day, and provides for all my needs. God has created me with a specific purpose and with God’s help I know I can discover my true calling. Every one of us has three specific callings: “First, there is the call to be a Christian. Second, for each individual there is a specific call—a defining purpose or mission, a reason for being. Every individual is called of God to respond through service in the world. Third, there is the call that we face each day in response to the multiple demands on our lives—our immediate duties and responsibilities” (Smith, ... ... middle of paper ... ...all life even those who choose to reject him. I need to live in such a way that if today was the last day I had to live, I know I have done Christ’s work and brought others to Christ. Till his return, I believe it is my duty to spread the word and to do my part for God. In conclusion, my worldview encapsulates the fact that a God exists and he has created the human race in his image. Being created in his image, I am bestowed with God’s character of love, kindness, righteousness, forgiveness, and all other great attributes expressed by him. Our duty as those who claim the title “Christian” is to live with a Christ like attitude and to walk the walk instead of just talking the talk. I need to put my knowledge, talents, and skills to work for Christ till his return. The choice to live my life for him is what gives my life meaning and purpose. Works Cited
All people have a worldview based on personal beliefs that form their reality and what they feel is meaningful in life. I am a Christian with a biblical worldview, which is based on the word of God. My faith in Jesus as my savior is what drives the meaning of who I am and the importance of life. The Book of Romans 1-8 provides the word of God and answers questions about how Christians can live a righteous life for our savior Jesus Christ.
There are several aspects to consider when exploring the Christian worldview. There are many facets or denominations and they each have their own distinct beliefs and practices, but they all share the same fundamental beliefs. In this Paper we will explore the character of God, His creation, humanity and its nature, Jesus’ significance to the world, and the restoration of humanity, as well as my beliefs and the way that I interact with Christianity and my personal worldview.
What is a worldview? According to the PowerPoint presentation made by Dr. James Henderson, a worldview is a commitment to a basic view about reality, a set of assumptions and commitments to an emotional, ethical, and spiritual orientation, which can be expressed as a story or a set of logical presuppositions about what we believe, which to me means that one’s viewpoints, expectations, ethical and societal beliefs are systematized by what is acceptable, tolerable and unobjectionable. In contrast, a biblical worldview is a comprehensive perception of the world as we know it through Christian morals, principles, and consciousness.
A worldview is a particular philosophy of life or conception of the world. Everybody has their own opinion of a worldview. To me, a worldview is the perspective in which one person views the world. Norman Geisler and William Watkins see a worldview as this, “A worldview is a way of viewing or interpreting all of reality. It is an interpretive framework through which or by which one makes sense of the data of life and the world.” When they say “an interpretive framework” they are talking about seeing a worldview as a pair of glasses. When you put on your pair of glasses you see the world clearly. When you put on someone else’s glasses you may not see things as well as they see them. If the prescription for the glasses is someone else’s, then you would more than likely see through them distortedly. Now if you have the proper prescription, the glasses will help you see the world clearly. This is analogous to worldviews. Prescription glasses can either hurt or help your eyes, as your worldview will either hurt or help your mind as it tries to understand the world. If your worldview shows the truth of God’s Word, then that worldview will help you see the world clearly as it is supposed to be seen. If your worldview is that there is no belief in God, then when you look at the design in nature, you have to see something other in design. You have to see an accident that happens to look like a design. Just an example; when you look at Mount Rushmore, do you see design, or do you see an accident? You have to see design, because there is no way that the rocks that are carved out of Mount Rushmore just had accidentally happened. A worldview can tremendously influence the way someone lives there life. If you are looking from t...
My task in establishing a worldview seemed daunting until reviewing, “I believe God is the source of all truth”(Hindson and Towns). This inspired me to not worry and focus on God’s message to me. In studying and researching I discovered Romans is the New Testament’s most important book. The importance of Romans is summarized best by Martin Luther, “This Epistle is really the chief part of the New Testament and the very purest Gospel, and is worthy not only that every Christian should know it word for word, by heart, buy occupy himself with it every day, as the daily bread of the soul”(Luther).
Recognition of a person’s worldview can be found based on one’s answer to several reality questions surrounding God (origin), human nature (identity), reality (meaning/purpose), after life (destiny), values (morality or ethics). My own definition of worldview is a set of beliefs about the most important issues in life and my reaction to them. While in agreement with Jeff Baldwin’s eyeglass concept, I choose to compare my Christian worldview to an internal navigation system. When I am lost and need to be found, Christ is omnipresent. He knows my location and guides me in another direction.
This excerpt conforms to my worldview that the essence of Christianity is based on how an individual responds to others who are in need of both physical and spiritual help. As I continue to develop and grow in Christ, I will apply this principle throughout my lifelong journey of helping others and teaching the Gospel.
...dea of what my worldview is. I know that my religion, family, and career choice have a huge impact on it. I can also see why my worldview, which is rooted in Christianity, is more superior to the New Age worldview that is becoming more prevalent in our world today. Lastly, by using my worldview I was able to take a concrete stance on the topic of abortion.
The reason I say this I as I believe that my worldviews are practical and realistic. As the text states, the worldview has to be workable and practical to areas and experiences of one’s life. If you are seriously engaged in learning about worldview, you are literally on the cutting edge of understanding the role in our modern world. The world we live in now is radically different from the world as it was when I was growing up.
There are many aspects of the Christian worldview that determines one’s faith. It all begins with God and what he did and why he so great. Then how humanity was shape with its issues and main purpose. The way we see Jesus and what has he done to be apart of are faith and what as humans have found for a restoration. Through analysis the Christian faith and how each of these tie in together. While reflecting on my faith and if lives to the standards of a Christian worldview. Through explaining my understanding of the four aspects of a Christian worldview I will analysis and compare it to my faith.
Today’s society consists of many worldviews. Most people tend to pull beliefs from different religions, but often stick to one main worldview. A worldview to me is the gathering of beliefs that shape what we do on a daily basis and forms our overall view on life. When I look at my beliefs critically, I am able to see my worldview and see how it compares to different worldviews, but also how it compares mainly to the Christian Worldview.
The difference between personal worldview, which is defined as “one's personal view of the world and how one interprets it” , and a biblical worldview is defined “as the framework of ideas and beliefs through which a Christian individual, group or culture interprets the world and interacts with it. This is a question that requires one to look into themselves
God, Humanity, Christianity and Restoration are four points that will be addressed as the most significant parts of my worldview. Why I personally believe that Jesus Christ is both the Son of God and also walked this earth as God in the flesh will be discussed. My Christian faith, my belief in perfect restoration through Him via salvation for myself and everyone else in the world will also be discussed in depth. My worldview stems from my own Christian faith, though I do have respect for other religious beliefs. My worldview has evolved from my teachings throughout childhood by my parents, other relatives, and many of my peers. My worldview, thus far, has also developed by my own personal experiences with the Messiah Himself, through answers to prayer and by revelation of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Though I have been exposed to the
Everyone has a worldview. This may be something we do not think about on the regular, but we all have one. A worldview is our set of beliefs used to understand the world. It shapes our thoughts on how we interpret reality, and forms our moral opinions. Our regular worldview is formed by almost anything secular, jobs, money, family even education. Then there is a Christian’s Worldview which would be our sacred doings.
I am a human being created in the image of God. My purpose on Earth is to spread the word of God to the world. The world that he has blessed us with is beautiful, but is often tainted by the endless sins that we commit. It’s our job to take care of the earth, but sometimes it’s easier to just ignore our tasks. The problem with the world today is that we do whatever we can to take the easy way out; the world ignores Scripture and relies on a worldview based by our culture. The Naturalist world believes that God doesn’t exist; they believe humans just happened through the evolutionary process by chance. The problem with this is the ignorance that arises toward God’s beautiful creation. We get caught up with our society and don’t take the time to realize all of the thought and time that God has put into making it.
