Nicole came to my office today. She talked with me about the HTA 355 – online class she is currently taking. Nicole is thinking in dropping it because she does not like the contents of the class. I advised her to talk with her academic advisor before dropping any class. Nicole was not sure how drop this class would affect the required credits needed for graduation. I am a student from the midlothian campus retaking BIO 101 for the third time. Last semester, I enrolled for BIO 101 with Prof. Rupa Bandyopadhyay. I did not preform well in her class as my father became injured and after multiple knee surgeries he was unable to work and drive. From that, I ended up moving to his house in Glen Allen to help him around which resulted in me missing classes which prevented me from the coursework. Although I failed this class, from the beginning, before my father's injury, I had actively participated in class sessions and found the way she taught/lectured was very understandable and effective. After gaining your approval to retake this class with the same professor, I aimed to fully
My sixteen week class in English 111. I was really nervous about this class. Because English has never been my strong point. This class has hard, but fun all at the same time. I learn a lot from this class. Meanwhile, the first day of class you handed a paper with a question on it. “The first thing I want to say to you who are students is that you must not think of being here to receive an education; instead, you will do much better to think of being here to claim one.” Even though putting my all in what I have learned, claiming my education with hard work because using the skills of the meal plan, as we write to different audiences and learning to be a Critically thinker as I start becoming a critically-Literate Citizenship.
Lucinda lives in a small apartment off-campus. She has been frequently late for classes and missed multiple class periods each semester. She has been experiencing a lot of stress trying to keep up with her class work and considering dropping 1 to 2 courses this semester. ...
Writing essays was never my forte, it just never came easy to me like it would to others. Since other subjects came easy to me and I had to focus more than others on writing, I had a negative attitude toward the process as a whole. During this summer semester, I was able to grow as a writer, and gain a more positive attitude toward how I write and a better feel for writing in college. Writing a paper is a process in which there are many different stages. In high school I would never write outlines or any sort of pre planning work. Other struggles I encountered in my writing were my theses, and framing quotes.
Initial Reflective Essay When I first thought of what I wanted to do with my life after college, the first thing I thought of was helping people. The next step in deciding what I wanted to do with my life was to examine how I could accomplish this goal. I started pondering and I was thinking about how much I love to take care of my body. Health care and personal hygiene has always been an important factor in my life. So I decided to major in Health Sciences.
First thing I experienced walking into English 101 as a freshman was anxiety and nervousness. Going through high school I was never really good at English and having English 101 as my second class as a freshman was eye opening. I have learned to use proper technique while writing papers, looking through my paper for grammar errors and also that it is always good to ask for help when confused and if you are stuck on a paper.
this area but I’m going to improve on it. The process of using multiple drafts has

The first four weeks of CR510 have prompted this student to reflect on her years of teaching in the public school setting. Having experienced many similar complexities to the ones in the text, this student is sympathetic to the challenges facing those in the education system and is eager to find opportunities to offer a better solution for all involved. CR510 has strengthened this student's belief that a third party neutral can provide valuable benefits to educational systems at all levels.
Journal Entry: March 15, 2016 (Our schedules are both busy; I will be interviewing her in April)
At the beginning of the semester, my mom made me send her all of my spring 2017 class syllabi so that she could see all the work I would be doing in the upcoming semester. About a month into the semester my mom called me to talk to me about my politics and society “final paper”. Having only been one month into the school year I had not really thought of any finals for any of my classes. My mom told me that there was an available Alpharetta City Hall meeting later in the week and that I should attend it to get it out of the way for my class. I decided to do research on City Hall Meetings and came to the realization that the one my mom suggested I go to was probably the best one I could have asked for at the time.
A high school class and a college class are conducted in different ways. In high school, teachers exercise control over the flow of information, while college professors encourage the student to seek out pertinent information. Throughout the year, a high school teacher will remind the student of upcoming due dates and assignment requirements. If a student misses a test or homework assignment, the teacher will provide missing notes or study guides so that the student is kept up to date with the rest of the class. For example; when I was in high school, I missed a week of school to go on vacation with my family. My mother spoke with my teacher before we left and he agreed to let me turn in my homework when I returned to class. Furthermore, my teacher allowed me to make up the single quiz that I missed during my absence. Neither the late homework, nor the missed quiz reflected in my grade. A college professor would have made me choose between a good grade and a vacation with my family. In contrast, the college professor...
I struggled for months on end (in fact, over two years) as to whether I should move forward, move laterally or not move at all. I felt defeated by a situation and the choice I made to deal with that matter. I will not take additional space on this letter to reiterate every detail of what happened in BUS635 that caused me to receive a failing grade. However, I will summarize it by saying, it was a huge mistep on my part not to properly withdraw from the class more timely.
In the world of education, assessments play an integral role in student learning. To get the most out of assessments, they must be aligned with the standards, accurately measure what students know, as well as promote student learning (McTighe and O’Connor, 2005). In order to do this, it is important to include students in the assessment planning process. This should begin at the beginning of a unit with the pre-assessment and should be carried throughout the formative and summative assessments. Dr. Anne Davies believes that “when students are involved in the assessment process, they are more engaged and motivated, and they learn more” (Davies, 2007, p. 31). In my interdisciplinary unit, I attempt to include students in every stage of the assessments
At the start of this class, I made a goal to develop my writing skills to better prepare me for other courses for my degree. I knew English 106 would be different compared to any other English or college courses that I have taken. I knew English 106 environment will let me grow in diverse writing dimensions. My long serving years of experience in the military has exposed me to many cultures around the globe. In just seven weeks of the course, I have seen some improvement in my writing. This course has afforded me with several techniques that have made writing not only a little bit easier but also more in-depth resulting in a higher level of academic writing versus my normal military style writing. Now I understand the writing process and
