Reflective Statement For Social Studies Teacher

When this semester came about, I did not know what to expect, I was nervous but also excited at the same time. My desire to teach evolved probably when I was in middle school and the desire matured through high school and is still evolving as I immerse myself into the field of teaching. I started to enjoy learning more and more and felt that to be able to teach all this information I learned would be my dream job. I love to learn and want to inspire my students to love to learn new ideas and skills. By educating the future generation of citizens to be engaged and play an active role in society will be my mission. The most important aspect is to give them the tools to success and inspire in them the belief that they can accomplish anything with the right mindset and will power. One negative aspect I anticipate in my career as a Social Studies teacher would be not being able to reach every student. Some students will fight tooth and nail, but I will never stop believing in them and inspiring them to follow their heart and to do what is right because it is right. I thought that it was too much at first and too much too fast. It took me personally a good amount of time to understand where to put the standards in the lesson plans, unit calendar, and what exactly they are. The other thing I did not like was the lesson plans. I thought they were too difficult to assign so early in the semester because most of us did not know what was considered a correct lesson plan or unit calendar. I think that it would have been more prolific if we got examples of lesson plans or unit calendars that were done correctly showing what was being asked for.
