I realized that I got improved in the college’s level writing strategies when I retrospected my process during the Stretch English class in the entire year. I had no idea how was a college level writing before I studied in this course. Now, I found my individual step to write the college essay. In this whole year, I focused on the topic of gun control and I got a large number of inspiring to extend my writing skills in reading the New York Times story. Different writing processes made a various effect to the essay. The accurate explanation and critique to argue the topic was important to engage readers to read my essay, whereas I had not realized when I wrote my first essay. The one year experience told me that an outline and a sketch were the strong brackets of organizing an essay. I had not used to write an outline before considering my essay, which undoubtedly I presented a loose structure in the essay. Then I realized that an outline listed the entire structure of the essay. Through that I accumulated strategies of writing, I firstly wrote a specific outline in my last critical essay. The reason why I wrote more details in this essay than others like profile essay was that a critical essay needed rigorous logic to address evidence. The outline contains thesis the statement in introduction and the body paragraph I chose four criteria what I wanted to argue in the essay and briefly summarized supporting evidence about gun control topic. Moreover, the fundamental organizing steps were not only an outline, but the sketch closely connected with it. I would use the outline to write a sketch then move to a draft. I roughly wrote the topic sentence of every paragraph and only provided one evidence in the sketch. After I checked the evidence was focusing on the topic, I would extend the context to discuss the no-buy list for guns. Now I will never ignore these two significant steps to improve the essay’s
