I waved my family goodbye on June 1, 2015 and boarded my flight to Atlanta Georgia. That flight took two hours and the transatlantic flight took eight. Another two hours and I was in Berlin, Germany. I traveled one month in the southern part, two weeks in the north, one week on the island of Rügen, and the final week back in Berlin. I spent the time I had with family and friends, and the fleeting moments I had to myself were timeless. As a result of my trip to Germany I have changed my perspective on the world in its natural and physical inhabitants. In the month I spent in southern Germany, I lived with my Oma in the village of Lauingen in a renovated farmhouse with three floors and 18 rooms. It does not have air-conditioning or a heater …show more content…
Oma had volunteered to cook Kartoffle-Klöse for all of the tenants in the apartment, and I think she very much enjoyed the praise and thanks from the five teenagers. There was not a moment in which I was truly alone until now. My family and friends were always a part of my waking hours and this change of pace was a breath of fresh air. I brought a beer, my camera, and set out for an unintended hike. I wandered a beaten path through the forest and up Pferdskopf, the southern mountain trail. The air held me in its arms and softly brushed my face with warm breezes. All the mountain flowers leaned towards the receding sun, waving goodbye to their blushing friend. Crickets played a symphony and the earth whispered from the trees with rustling poems of harmony. Heaven-on-earth is not close enough to the paradise I felt in that excursion. Absolute pace and serenity was all I could feel. I was truly blissful and was so content to have found such an emotion. My mind was as blank as the darkening sky, and my heart was as filled with happiness as the air with the scent of blossoms. It was a warm night and the air held the promise of rainfall so I began my journey home. I roamed for so long that when I returned, it was dark and the food was put up and everyone had already gone to
A place which is flawless and is free of sadness, distress, and unhappiness. The story states how there are no conflicts, violence, or negativity in the Omelas society. The author visualizes and describes everything that goes on in the Omelas Society in a really fantasy way and uses persuasive language to convince the audience to believe that whatever is going on is true. The author also shows the joyous celebrations of people for the Festival of Summer. The genre of this story is introduced as to be more of an imagination then being realistic at the beginning. According to the author, “In other streets the music beat faster, a shimmering of gong and tambourine, and the people went dancing. Children dodged in and out, crossing flights, over the music and singing”(Guin 1). The author states that everyone is enjoying the festival, people are happy, and everything is perfect, but changes happiness into
Atlanta, GA, is one of the most exciting cities in the nation. Not only is it one of the most populated cities, but it has one of the largest metropolitan areas as well. This city is a fantastic option for those making the move to Georgia for a number of reasons. If you are considering a move to Atlanta, here are some things you will want to know.
It was a village on a hill, all joyous and fun where there was a meadow full of blossomed flowers. The folks there walked with humble smiles and greeted everyone they passed. The smell of baked bread and ginger took over the market. At the playing grounds the children ran around, flipped and did tricks. Mama would sing and Alice would hum. Papa went to work but was always home just in time to grab John for dinner. But Alice’s friend by the port soon fell ill, almost like weeds of a garden that takes over, all around her went unwell. Grave yards soon became over populated and overwhelmed with corpse.
Stepping out of my first plane ride, I experience an epiphany of new culture, which seems to me as a whole new world. Buzzing around my ears are conversations in an unfamiliar language that intrigues me. It then struck me that after twenty hours of a seemingly perpetual plane ride that I finally arrived in The United States of America, a country full of new opportunities. It was this moment that I realized how diverse and big this world is. This is the story of my new life in America.
“It’s difficult to recall the first time I went to Switzerland. The actual experience of flying across the ocean at a young age felt like journeying to a different world. That eleven-hour flight was such a tedious part of the very exciting journey ahead. I remember once looking out the window of the plane as we touched down and feeling such a deep comfort and contentment. I felt as though I was home. What awaited me were days of family and friends, hiking and exploring, and delicious food. It was always such a beautiful experience being i...
I walked around unsteadily all day like a lost baby, far away from its pack. Surrounded by unfamiliar territory and uncomfortable weather, I tried to search for any signs of similarities with my previous country. I roamed around from place to place and moved along with the day, wanting to just get away and go back home. This was my first day in the United States of America.
The short story “The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas” tells the allegorical tale of a ‘flawed’ Utopian society. On the day on which the narrator is focusing, the city’s people are celebrating the summer festival. The children ride willing horses in races and race about the fields in their bare feet. The day is bright and clear, music of all kinds fills the air, bells ring, and the air itself is sweet. At first impression, this society and its people appeal greatly to me but it is difficult to describe the joy that is felt by the people of Omelas. LeGuin (the narrator) uses imagery to get the reader into thinking Omelas seems like a nice place with “a cheerful faint sweetness of the air” and “joyous clanging
After reviewing multiple schools I have decided that I want to transfer Howard University. One of the most important reasons to me personally is to be in an atmosphere surrounded by individuals that look and think like as I. I have obtained knowledge about myself and my culture over recent years and I feel Howard is the proper environment to try to genuinely implement social change as well as receive instruction from educators that can relate to my personal story, and background. I yearn for mentoring and instruction that will legitimately help me become a better person not just in the classroom but in life and feel this can only be granted by such a decorated institution as Howard University. I have aspirations of being an African-American

They arrived at the cottage it sat on a hill in the distance the cottage was painted a radiant yellow. The grass was so rich it bounced back in place after every step they toke. Beautiful marigolds, poppies, and roses surrounded the white picket fence. Inside was the table piled high of food fit for the gods. Frosted pastries oozing with sweet-smelling filling, mouthwatering glistering chicken, and freshly plucked fruits.
While searching for a particular crossroad that has shaped my life and journey I was at a block, I sat for hours just trying to think of my past journeys and experiences. I decided to take a break and to pray about my autobiography and asked God for help with my words and memory. I then realized that I am currently going through a major journey in my life that has changed my way of thinking and living. I decided to focus on this crossroad that shook my world on May 24th 2015 at 6:57 am when my daughter passed away. I now understand why my mind is blocked from my past memories because I need to explore this new journey and learn how to live life after such a tragedy. In addition, this is the first time I have written out any feelings or experiences since my daughter’s death so most of my autobiography is based on raw and unexplored emotions.
It has been an eventful four years here at Christopher Dock. I went through a lot and I am proud of who I am becoming. I am not the shy, quiet and awkward kid that I was coming here but instead, I grew into a kind, confident and selfless individual ready to take on the world. Thanks to the adversity that I went through, I was rewarded with what I desire the most in this life: God, Friends and Family. The adversity that I had go through was letting go of my past, restoring my lost faith to God and stop being dependent onto my brother Tyler. Without those three groups of people, I would not be where I am today. Now I would like to reflect on my growth throughout all of these four years.
I awoke to the sun piercing through the screen of my tent while stretching my arms out wide to nudge my friend Alicia to wake up. “Finally!” I said to Alicia, the countdown is over. As I unzip the screen door and we climb out of our tent, I’m embraced with the aroma of campfire burritos that Alicia’s mom Nancy was preparing for us on her humungous skillet. While we wait for our breakfast to be finished, me and Alicia, as we do every morning, head to the front convenient store for our morning french vanilla cappuccino. On our walk back to the campsite we always take a short stroll along the lake shore to admire the incandescent sun as it shines over the gleaming dark blue water. This has become a tradition that we do every

They also give brochure and magazines that contains all the information and majors in that school.
There is nothing quite like traveling, going someplace new and finding out more about the world and yourself. Anyone can become a traveler it just takes a little bit of faith and courage. Traveling across the world or even across the country is a learning experience. When you are a traveler you see how people live and how different cultures work. It is the best educational experience you could give yourself. You see how the world works in a way no one can teach you. Seeing different cultures and people help build the person you want to be.
