Pay It Forward I choose the move Pay It Forward for I feel this is a great example of leadership and how it can be applied in real life situations. The name in itself speaks wonders. We know it is a metaphorical statement but it has power. In the movie, Pay It Forward, a middle school boy is given an assignment which he turns into a moral mission. He starts this ?pay it forward? and wants to keep it going. A reporter decides to investigate this action when he had totaled his own car and a lawyer gives him his Jaguar. The reporter was very intrigued by this action and decided to follow up and at the end of is trail of investigation he found Trevor, the little boy who started this ?good deed? reaction. This was done by a cycle of good deeds to others and in turn these people to return the good deed to someone else with a good deed. Pay it forward can and is a great lesson anyone in a management position can use. Pay it forward has a great and positive impact on the world in the movie and can do the same in the leadership arena. Not only can this type of behavior have a positive effect on the employees but yourself as well. When you are feeling great and positive it tends to radiant and others will see this. In turn, even if they do not use the pay it forward theory, they can still be touched and have a better outlook on life

We saw a lot of this going on in the movie with the pay it forward. The giver has a different type of mindset. One of willingly giving to others, rather than be their time, service, ideas, money, attention, and so much more. Also, doing this without the thought of, you scratch my back I scratch your back. Great leadership I feel starts with the character of being a giver, servants of others, a servant leadership. Anyone can teach others from leading by example. Showing others what you can accomplish establishes confidence in others to try out their own dreams, wishes, and goals. A great example of leading by example is Gus, Clark, and Richie in the movie The Benchwarmers. These men meet Nelson, a stereotypical nerd that is bullied by baseball jocks every day just because he wants to play with them. This little boy inspires the men to show others that everyone should have the same opportunity to play baseball, no matter the skill level.
The first word that comes to mind when thinking about Do the Right Thing is HOT. Everything about this movie was hot, from the weather down to the themes and issues it brought up. It’s interesting too watch this movie while living with a heat wave in NYC. There’s plenty of room for debate as to whether or not anyone did the right thing in this script, in my opinion most of the characters did the wrong thing. What’s interesting to me is to think about what Spike Lee considered the right and wrong thing to do in this screenplay. It’s not just his words as an actor playing a role, he also wrote, directed, and produced the vehicle for those words and actions to come to life. So it’s hard to separate Spike from Mookie, and I don’t think Spike would even want us to. I also wonder about some changes from the screenplay and the film, and the effect the have on the overall message of the film.
Employee retention requires a whole lot more than just competitive salaries and great benefits. Employee recognition and pay based on performance are just two ways on how to get started in retaining your best. Employees want to feel part of something bigger than them. Corporate volunteer programs are a proven way to increase employee moral and retention. This report will briefly show that family video is already doing all that is necessary when dealing with pay, benefits, and room for advancement. It will discuss how a corporate volunteer program would be the best choice for the company to undergo in order to help increase employee retention. The other benefits that result from a corporate volunteer program and the costs of the program will also be presented.
Another example of a time I showed leadership is when I went to the town library to read to children. Doing that made me feel good since some of them were to young to know how to read. Also, it was enjoyable to read to the children because just watching listen to you made me feel responsible and teacher-like. I show good character by helping my sister if she need help with her homework. I sit down with her and explain how to do it or if she doesn’t understand a question I explain what it means. I stop when she says she does not need my help anymore. I also show good character by sticking up for my friends if they need it or want it. My friends are one of the most important things in my life and if they need up I will gladly help them. Another example of myself showing good character is at lunch when people put their lunch trays away most people do it carelessly. So, I try my hardest to make sure the trays are in a neat pile. The lunch ladies have a hard-enough job as it is. So, I do this to make it a little easier. In a business or a workplace, it is essential for the organization, which consists of the employers, the managers, and their employees, to work towards reward programs within the human resources in order to create a healthy and cordial work environment and most importantly, to efficiently achieve business’ goals. In Carol Patton’s (2013) article, Rewarding Best Behaviors, she explains the importance of several companies that are beginning to recognize their employees, not just for the end-results, but for reflecting good behaviors towards the business’ values, such as demonstrating creativity on certain projects, problem solving towards certain issues, and also collaborating with fellow co-workers. Patton stresses that these reward programs could help suffice the overall being of a company as long as the rewarded behaviors correlate with the corporate strategy. Patton expresses that some things human resources must comprehend include “how its company creates success, what drives its business strategy and what behaviors are needed from employees to achieve that success” (Patton, 2013 para. 15). Moreover, the employee would be reflected as a role model for others and perhaps influence them to demonstrate comparable behaviors.

Accomplished leaders inspire the world and their people to reach higher, dream bigger, and achieve greater. Andrew Carnegie, a self-made steel magnate and one of the wealthiest businessmen in the 19th century once stated, “No man will make a great leader who wants to do it all himself, or to get all the credit for doing it.” A man with a striking amount of wealth and ample power was remarkably giving and a notable philanthropist. His statement holds true in that the key to great leadership is not merely one’s achievements but the accomplishments we can make as a team.
Finally, LTC Moore’s bravery is one to marvel at in the movie but his leadership character is an excellent example of how a leader should conduct his/herself. This character can also be applied in the business world also. Assessment, preparation, and research should always be analyzed to see how a leader could better improve a firm. Honesty and flexibility allow for mistakes to easily identified and corrected. Company leaders could get some real situational value from implying LTC Moore’s example of leadership to their management of employees.
