Stress is a very familiar feeling where every individual has went through. It is caused by the brain’s response to the environment (work, family, relationships, racism), psychological matters (internal conflicts, beliefs) or life changes (marriage, fired at work, birth and death). Without proper stress management, it would result in cognitive (memory loss, constant worrying, poor judgement), emotional (moodiness, depression, agitation), physical (aches, rapid heart beat, frequent colds) and behavioral symptoms (sleep problems, unhealthy eating habits, isolation).

I always have high demand and low control situation when I am having examinations. The examination are the challenges I have to be faced. Since I have fear of sharing my feeling with my parents, I have minimal emotional, informational and physical support. This induces stress. If I do not handle this situation properly, I would easily burnout and eventually give up working which further promotes building stress when the work is not complete. This would easily bring up negative emotions to me.

In addition, according to Julian Rotter’s locus of control model, I am classified as a fatalist. Fatalist possesses high external locus control. That means I am easily affected by external factor, emotionally and physically. I believe on chance, fate, or luck to shape my life. As a fatalist, I usually seek for social support to solve the situation. This matches with what I usually do when I am under stress as I approach my friends for assistance in order to reduce my stress. Be more optimistic and believe that ‘I’ have many possibilities and ‘I’ will create a better future. Besides, positive psychology mentioned positive, adaptive and happy people are healthier and live longer than unhappy people. It could shift the focus to exploring and changing personal weaknesses to strengths and virtues to promote authentic happiness and fulfil aspects of human life. Also, stay confident and courageous when making decisions. It may not offer the best result but at least I have tried and gain experience for future reference. Moreover, sharing our feelings with people who are willing to listen, like friends, family members or even professional counsellors, will help reduce
