During the last quarter, I took a personality course and I had been taking the NEO FFI test before, because it was the one of the assignments to complete in that class. However, I took this test again to explore my results right now and I am satisfied with the results. Also, I got average scores for all categories because I believed that I become more mature status of mentally and physically right now. Furthermore, I learned how to be a better person because I start to think as positive for the cause and effect. This is also because I can start to be positive within all events that caused in my life, and I could not think in negative such as suicide, depression and lack of competence as well. Therefore, I want to find out what is my personality now in this time and get some strategies to improve it. , I got a 27 on the Neuroticism which is an average score, which is emphasized generally calm …show more content…
I also agreeing with these results because I always like to do new things in my life. For example, I am going to start new ways of studying to prepare for exams such as using flashcards, different styles of note taking and combinations of old styles in my life. Therefore, I agree with this result in openness within my experiences to prepare for exams, and other things in due dates. In the other hand, I also agree with my result in agreeableness because most people viewed me as trustworthy and feel friendly to share other thoughts with many people. However, sometimes I become stubborn for some things, because I want to do things in my own way such as choices of foods and places to hang out with some friends. Therefore, I need to fix this habit to avoid some conflicts with my friends, parents, and other
One of the great features of each individual is the distinct personality that one has from another. Personality is a key feature because it is a characteristic that shapes how an individual may think or behave, and is not something that changes over time but stays consistent. In society, personality tests are used for many assessments such as matchmaking date, profile updates, job applications, etc. The IPIP-NEO is a personality inventory of the five factor model that appraise the measurement of openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism, also known as OCEAN. As a college student I am faced with many situations throughout my daily life, while I believed I maintain a certain consistent personality through the process of this paper I was able to identify how my personality differed or stayed the same based on situations I was in. Through the course of this study, I was able to identify when five of what I feel are my most prominent personality traits were most prevalent and how they changed depending on the situation. The five personality traits I chose were humorous, imaginative, sarcastic, optimistic, and helpful. The situations I choose to look at were me in class, at work, with a friend, with family, and when I was alone studying.
After taking the survey, my results depicted that my primary style of thinking is Affiliative. I find this someone accurate in how I live my life, however there are characteristics I exhibit which diminish my affliliative personality. I find that I am continuously trying to find that perfect relationship or bond with someone. Frankly, I find it hard to make connections with others because my continuous need to be perfect. I find that my closest and best relationships are those who have common values, way of living, and ideals about living life. Once I find a relationship that is trusting, I try to maintain it to my best ability. I am very easy to talk to, however my best communication is with others that have the same values. I express my liking for the other person by showing some generosity and kindness.
I have become aware of my understanding of persons. As nurses, we need to put our patients and their families at the heart of all our decisions. This is well accomplished if we have a better understanding of who they are. It is important to see people through God’s eyes and care for them to the best of our ability. Understanding persons in healthcare is mastered by being aware of the six characteristics of a person.

I ended up contacting 3 of my family members, and I told them to be brutality honest with me. I also told them whatever they said to me would not hurt my feelings. The four people I contacted where my brother, mom and dad. My dad said that my strengths where that I’m independent and I like to work on my own, that I was very determined to be successful, and that I am very driven to be the best at everything. She said my weaknesses where time management since I sometimes put off homework till last minute, that processes where hard for me to follow because I like to do things my way, he also said that I am very needy for approval after I have completed something. My mom said that I am a hard worker and feel the need to compete tasks fast, that I am a very loyal friend, and I am very determined to succeed in life. One can find caring practices in many aspects of human life. Usually parents care for their young children, and children care for their older parents, husbands and wives care for their spouses, etc. In the professional scope, usually healthcare professionals associated with care. The foundation of nursing practice is an idea of caring. “Caring is important for many reasons, but is considered crucial for quality healthcare” (Tanking, 2010, p.3). So, what does caring actually mean?
After the self-assessment, now I feel confident about my qualities and how I need to deal with people with different personality having very differently thinking and how we can come to a common solution of any problem.
In the past, I remember having experienced taking several different personality surveys when I was taking a psychology course in high school, in addition to taking this same exact survey in Professor Zinger’s class during spring quarter. Although I took it twice, I enjoy taking personality surveys because I get to learn more about myself and think about questions I haven’t had the chance to consider before. But overall, I thought this survey was very useful and easy to complete. It was also very easy to follow, understand, and didn’t take long to get through.
My score for “materialistic” expressed that feeling more attractive positively influences my sense of happiness, which could potentially cause me to be shallow and fake. My results for “offbeat” show that I play things too safe and am unable to accept change. My score for “thinking” indicated that I have an inability to make long-term goals or plans. The result for “interpersonal” depicted suggested that I enjoy serving others but could potentially ignore my own needs in the long run. The “vital” score showed that I have poor mental and/or physical health. Lastly, my results for “easygoing” suggested that I am often stressed, exhausted and have anxiety. I would have to disagree with most of the results of this particular personality test. In my personal opinion, I am quite the opposite of materialistic. All my life I have always gone by the idea that things are just things, and don’t hold the value of my life. In terms of mental health, I have suffered from depression and anxiety which I still seem to struggle with, however I find myself to continue to be hard-working, determined, and independent which I believe will help me in completing my long-term goals. In conclusion, I see some accuracy in my results for this test, however disagree with most of
Every person on this planet is composed of the same elements. However, there are a few aspects that makes everyone very much different, one of those aspects is personality. Personality is the core of who we are as individuals; it's defined by how we interact with others, how we understand and act in the world around us, and how we distinguish the person that we are (Friedman & Schustack, 2012). In personality psychology, psychologists study what makes every individual so different from each other. The theories in personality psychology help explain why we are the way that we are. Using Motive theory and the Big Five theory, I will explain how these two theories are represented in three aspects of my personality. Those three personality aspects are the Need for Achievement, high Openness to experience, and high Conscientiousness.
Psychology deals with the study of mental processes and a variety of behaviors. In order to fully comprehend ourselves, we need to understand the causes of our behaviors and our outlook on life. Habits and behaviors have positive and negative effects in our life. When we know ourselves and learn about our unique personality, we can develop and pursue goals. Psychology also helps us to understand other people and the differences of people. Gaining this knowledge can improve the relationships and enhance our communication skills. Throughout the psychology course I gained knowledge in various areas, and the topics that impacted me the most included: the introvert, anxiety disorders, stress management, self discipline and how to develop strong relationships.
Personality is the expression of a person’s traits according to ones feelings, mentality and behavior. It involves understanding individuals’ traits such as withdrawal and willpower and how various parts of an individual link together to form personality. Personality expresses itself from within an individual and is comparatively regular throughout in an individual’s life. Different people have different personalities dependent on factors such as environment and genetic composition. Our personality is dependent on the success or failure of our development in the eight stages of life. This is proposed by Erik Erikson. Success in the development stages lead to virtues while the failure leads to malignancies.
Throughout this narrative review of my own development, I will apply theories of learning and personality development to my own growth, throughout my own life span, which is all that of 35 years. This will be directed with specific focus on my cognitive, emotional, and social development. Specific concepts and relevant theories discussed will be such as those of Erickson, Kohlberg, Piaget, Freud, and Vygotsky.
