We need people who are persevered, determined, and will never give up, and competitive sports are the very start of that. When you complain about the time you have, your grades dropping, and stress, think for a moment, are your complaints really accurate? Quitting may seem to be your ideal answer, but is it really the best idea? Before making any judgments you should take a look at the positive effects of competitive sports such as the physical, mental, and social aspects.
Some do argue, that maintaining a healthy lifestyle is preferred rather than joining a competitive sport, but competitive sports are recommended because when there's a class you are more likely to actually attend. When you exercise on your own, there is no motivation because

Some people believe that it has a negative effect on grades, but that’s not the case. Being persevered and determined are very critical for one’s grades and how to handle things. When a student gets a bad grade, usually some would just give up and move one. When an athlete gets a bad grade though, they’re never going to give up. Athletes have learned not to give up and to be determined to do better next time which isn’t a skill developed when just exercising. We need leaders like athlete’s to lead countries. We need leaders to be persevered and determined, and it all starts from this. Additionally, when one gets into competitive sports their concentration and motivation will increase even more. Michael Lorenc, a basketball coach, states, “When the season ends, the grades of students tend to drop”. This is definitely true because grades tend to drop because students aren't motivated enough. Sports gives you a lot of concentration because you’re always pushing toward a goal. Most athletes are motivated to balance life, sports, and school. Some may say that kids can’t handle the pressure, but this would even further contribute to their motivation. Another reason why athletes are motivated to get good grades are because there will be a consequences, such as getting kicked off the team. Student’s doing competitive sports have the motivation to succeed which will benefit their mental
If I can think of any word to say right now it would be the word Frustrated, Frustrated because of the war that is going on and how it is just so frustrating. It was the winter of 1777 and hundreds of thousands of soldiers, including me, were told by George Washington to stay the winter at Valley Forge, a winter camp 18 miles northwest of Philadelphia. My 9-month enlistment is a month away, it ends on March 1st and I know that Washington wants us all to stay to fight the war, but I am concerned for my mother that is growing old and I want to go home. There are many reasons why I have decided not to re-enlist but here are a few the conditions were so terrible, I cannot take them any longer, there were too many supplies
Playing competitive sports affect young people in a good way. They are good because you have that commitment and now its hard to back down. In the "no" section of 'Have Youth Sports Become Too Intense?", it states "Intense training promotes self-confidence, self-discipline, and commitment." Student athletes can agree with all of this because it teaches discipline and a lot of other things. Parents can disagree with my reason, because they don't want their child to go through with intense training. They think it's way too much for the child.
First of all high school sports are not beneficial because it puts too much stress on the kids because they want to make their parents happy and want to keep their grades up or if they don’t they could get cut from the team . The pressure from the parents is sometimes too much. According to KCRA.com this statement is important because it highlights that they have to worry about not getting dropped from the team because they have to make sure grades are staying up and then they have to worry about their practice and being a valuable player on the team. According to helpguide.org this could lead to, a lot of stress and that could be bad for the student because they might get health
Are high school sports beneficial or non-beneficial for students? I personally believe if a student is in a high school sport they’re forced to prioritize between school and their sport, and at a young age I believe the student would decide to use his time to improve in his sport instead of school. Which in the long run would affect his academics, unless they decide to stay up late and work on their homework to keep up with both school and their sport. But, even like that in time the lack of sleep would catch up to them, and cause them to do even worse in both academics, and sports. High school sports are like the lotto in my opinion, many play but only a few get rewarded for their work. Therefore, high school sports cause more negativity than positivity.
...an affect how kids do in school with the sports interfering with homework and studying time. Some teenaers focus more on sports than school in some cases while hoping for a sports scholarship. This can hurt their future. With so much focus on practicing with sports, school gets less attention than it needs.
n Addition to this with sports in high school student athletes need to keep up their grades in order to play the sport. Some people may say that when you participate in a sport, it takes away from your studying time and then makes you not as academically inclined as others. I believe that that statement is further from the truth in a recent article written by Daniel H. Bowen and Colin Hitt “High-School Sports Aren 't Killing Academics” from The Atlantic Bowen and Hitt state that “We would expect to see a negative relationship between the commitment to athletics and academic achievement. However, the University of Arkansas’s Daniel H. Bowen and Jay P. Greene actually find the opposite. They examine this relationship by analyzing schools’ sports winning percentages as well as
School sports can have both positive and negative effects on academic performance. The “How Does Playing a Sport Affect Your Grades?” written by Crystal Lopez, discusses the benefits of sports such as improving focus, attendance, and motivation. “The Negative Side of a Student-Athlete” written by Mickey Strauss from BYU claims the opposite. He states that athletics have a negative impact on academics because student athletes may base their success and happiness on athletic performance. He claims that sports performance acts as another stressor added to the stress of academic performance.
It will encourage students to try their best to accomplish superior grades. It opens their eyes in a different perspective on behavior as well as stronger scholastic peer relationships. It gives students activities excluding school work, because teenagers generally focus their mind on unacceptable actions. Parents commonly show passion along with appreciation when their child/children play a sport. They get to have a closer relationship and be elaborate with them more often than normal. Frequently, students do not care about their reputation or acknowledge the adults’ opinions on themselves; but in my opinion, playing sports and being mostly involved with their schools presents an improved character while in school and once they graduate. I was once told that “Sports do not build character. They reveal it.” Additionally, self-esteem in high school is hard to come by, occasionally sports help! Sports cause you to interact with other people and uplift you to do better. It presents a sharpened perspective on your schoolwork, career, future, and life altogether. In some cases, playing a sport can benefit you in an enhanced form. Scholarships can be a broad opportunity for valuable players with a good education on their shoulders. As well as, college recruitment can be another option. Money is hard to come by for college and if that seems to be a struggle for a student playing a sport can help tremendously. That
This evidence supports my claim because it shows that playing a sport comes with many obligations. It can also teach you respect. To sum it up, sports can teach children responsibility and many life lessons. The third reason athletes should be passing their classes to play sports is because it works out their brain and their future. According to Merlin Rajan, “Students should have good grades to play sports” She states, “Having good grades gives many financial benefits to students.
In today's society many children and teens participate in sports to stay active, or just to do it for fun, but what are the benefits to student athletes? Sports have many benefits such as it allows students to have goals for themselves, and it helps create well-rounded students. It is proven that when students have a sport or something they have to work for, it will help them with their educational status, and give them a desire to do well in school. Well-rounded students come from athletics because they have to be on their best behavior and maintain a certain grade status to remain on the team. These are only a couple of the many benefits to students participating in athletics.

According to the article “How Sport Can Help Your Child Succeed in the Future”, sports can play a large part in youth development. The experiences as children help mold them into the adults they will become. Through sports, kids can play together, share experiences, and work towards a common goal, good things happen in these circumstances. Also encouraging kids to learn valuable lessons like sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership, will help shape youth athletes character for the rest of their life. The correlation of sports and success in the future is very strong. According to a study mentioned in the article, high school student athletes in a Minnesota high school league are more than twice as likely to graduate than non athletes. They were
You have to think of what you will want to do with your life after sports. For most people that would be getting a job. Playing a sport didn’t influence me on my career goals but it has taught me many things about working hard to achieve your dreams. Just like when you work hard at practice to get playing time in a game you must work hard in college to get a job in the career field you choose. When playing a sport you make a commitment that you will show up to practices on time everyday. This will help with discipline in the future once I get a job because I know that I will have to be on time and show up for work
According to the lecture, democratic socialism has a central idea of equality and fraternity. Its basic point of view is that individual rights, as far as that is possible, must start by guaranteeing to all the necessary conditions (existence, food, shelter, education and health care) which enable a meaningful exercise of these very rights (Lowey). Therefore, democratic socialists believe that capitalism can be tamed and controlled so that the problem of inequality can be avoided. This can be done by focusing on strong welfare that is provided by tax payers. Therefore, democratic socialism has progressive taxation which means wealthier people pay a lot more than people who do not make a lot of money.
However, some parents pressure their kids to do better so that they might have a chance at getting a scholarship for college. First of all, sports are making kids do better not only with their skill in the sport, but it is also making kids do better academically. In recent studies, students with the busier schedules sports wise, have better grades than the students that only play one sport or don't play sports at all. The NFSHSA states that
