In today's society many children and teens participate in sports to stay active, or just to do it for fun, but what are the benefits to student athletes? Sports have many benefits such as it allows students to have goals for themselves, and it helps create well-rounded students. It is proven that when students have a sport or something they have to work for, it will help them with their educational status, and give them a desire to do well in school. Well-rounded students come from athletics because they have to be on their best behavior and maintain a certain grade status to remain on the team. These are only a couple of the many benefits to students participating in athletics. There are many benefits for students when they participate in sports, but one that really stands out is the help they can get to go to college from sports. A study showed that only around 1-2 percent of students get full ride scholarships to college from sports. Even though 1-2 percent is a very tiny percentage of students getting a scholarship, you have to remember that it is a full ride! Meaning you have to pay no money to go to college! Not only will this help students, but it can also majorly help the parents of the child out so they won’t have to worry about the amount of money.
