In the school environment, it is always beneficial to build healthy relationships and have a wholesome rapport. The connection between schools, parents, and the community specifically has an essential role to play in the growth and development of its young people. In fact, they should all collaborate to encourage the welfare and learning of students. By involving parents and utilizing community resources, schools will be more prepared to handle student needs. The partnership will ultimately help children develop healthy behaviors and receive high-quality education. Research shows that students whose parents and communities are involved in their education are more likely to perform well academically, emotionally, and socially. Van Roekel (2008) reports, “When schools, parents, families, and communities work together to support learning, students tend to earn higher grades, attend school more regularly, stay in school longer, and enroll in higher level programs.” They go on to say that “strong school-family-community partnerships foster higher educational aspirations and more motivated students” (p. 1).
Plummer Middle School (Plummer M.S.) is an urban school in Aldine Independent School District (Aldine I.S.D.). The school’s 2015-2016 Campus Improvement Plans (CIP) reveals the student population is 35% African-American, 62% Hispanic, and 3% Asian, Caucasian, or multi-race. Ultimately, it is not enough to have a small group of people creating high achieving students. Everyone needs to be involved and on board. School, parent, and community partnerships must be well integrated with the school’s overall mission and goals. They should be completely invested in improving the students’ educational experience. To create any desired vision, it is important to understand it takes time and effort. By having focus and determination, educational leaders can create and sustain cooperative environments and successful schools.

As a leader candidate, I can understand the challenges and multiplicity of complications that administrators must face each day. However, I will not accept any remote possibility that the students must be affected by some flaws of the school organization. We all as leaders, must be strategic with people, time, and money to guide our students towards an academic success.
One point is community can have a great impact on a child education. A child might have a hard time focus in school because his or her living. The PTO of the school realizes that the school is in need of parent support and involvement. There is not enough parent support to develop a wholesome committee. The school is still in need of a Vice President and Secretary to operate the committee successfully. My parents always treated my peers as if they were their own kids and they always had a perfect bond. My parent’s interaction with the school was quite overwhelming. They always went to my parent- teacher conferences, volunteered when we had student activities, helped out in school when help was need. They bonded with the teachers very well and even outside of school they maintained communication. Every single day when my siblings and I got home from school, mom would sit down with us after dinner and help us with homework and to study. She always found a way to make homework and studying entertaining and not boring. My community would make tournaments and have activities for the kids to go and participate. Including but not limited to basketball tournaments and coloring contests. When it came to having field day at school, my community would help support it by volunteering, making sure we were safe and having fun.
