As an early year provisions I should ensure children are learning and developing in a safe and secure environment. Environment doesn’t just mean the space it also mean adults, children and activities they are doing need to be safe. The setting needs to be positive and safe for all staff and children. The environment needs to encourage children to want to play and learn. I must always be positive in front of the children and encourage them to go off and play with the toys and explore their setting. Make sure they are happy and their needs are met.

• All children are sat down and can reach their food safely
• Never give young children sharp knifes to cut their food
• No pets near the food or in the eating area and don’t allow the children to touch the pets while eating

Why and how referrals are made to different agencies
If a child or young person in a setting such as a nursery or school needs extra support from another setting there are lots of reasons why this will happen and know need how to make those referrals.
Reasons why a child maybe referred for:
• Medical condition - Hearing impairment
Learning need – Dyslexia
• Emotional need – bereavement
• Physical condition – Brittle bones
Multi- agency panels have been set up already to support the referrals between settings:

• Organised by local authorities
• Ensure children’s needs are identified quickly

During the school day many support staff will connect with pupils and they can model positive behaviour and send positive message to pupils.
The use of the Children Act 2004 in day-to-day work with children and young people allows multi-disciplinary teams to shared information, which is used to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people known to one or more agencies. The interests of the child are paramount. In the setting, a specifically trained member of staff will be appointed to supervise safeguarding and child protection.

Speech, language and communication development is important for children’s holistic development. Through the development of speech and language, children will learn to socialise and express their preferences and their needs, and be able to make sense of the world. Communicate will support the development of their confidence and self-esteem. It is very important that young children listen to others as much as possible but also to put their own language skills to use. Personal, social and emotional development is very important for children because it will have effect on their confidence and self- esteem.
It is my strong belief that each child is entitled to a safe, secure, stimulating and caring learning environment. I always believed that each child is a unique individual with much curiosity and many academic, social and emotional needs. Children need our support in order to mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. As a teacher, one should aim to help students in fulfilling their dreams to become successful and educated individuals. We must provide them with a safe learning environment for their learning to succeed.
A Positive Behavior Support System (PBSS) is a school-wide approach to help establish the social culture and behavioral supports that are needed for all of the children in a school to ensure the achievement of both social and academic success. Because school principals play a pivotal role in the success of the school community it is, without a doubt, important that the principal play an important role in developing and implementing a PBSS in their school.
I believe every student is entitled to a safe learning environment where they can reach their full potential academically and behaviorally. Students will reach their full potential in a positive learning environment. The positive learning environment will be established from the beginning of the year providing a lasting impact on the students academic, and behavior performance throughout the entire year. The positive learning environment will be a classroom setting, which allows students to feel welcomed, safe, and important on daily basis allowing learning to occur to its fullest potential. To ensure my students are in a positive learning environment there must be a behavior management plan clearly explaining the expectations I have for my students. Throughout my behavior management plan I will explain how I plan to implement expectations so students act accordingly. My behavior management plan will be individually tailored to my students allowing me to push them to their fullest potential to by taking into consideration each student’s behavior and personal needs.
Behaviour is a socio cultural construct. An individual’s behaviour and their level of acceptance of certain behaviours will vary based on their reality, which is shaped through their societal constructs, environments and rules (Morrow, 2011). Children are more likely to engage in more positive behaviors and do better on intellectual tests when they’re parents actively play with them. Tough states that, “The children who parents were counseled to play more with them did better … on tests of I.Q., aggressive behavior, and self-control.” Basically, this quote is making the point that in the experiment discussed in the article, the parents who were trained to play more with their children – not simply give them milk like the other group in the experiment – did much better when it comes to social behavior, like controlling themselves, reduce aggression, and intellectual benefits. I feel that this is true because when parents play with their children, they build a bond with the child and their child’s brain is learning a lot more with the parent.
Child development and growth observation can be quite fascinating considering the uniqueness of each child. As children grow, they normally develop and acquire new skills whether complex or not. The abilities experienced by each child progresses differently that is it depends on the nurturing given by the parent or guardian and on the characteristics that they inherit. As discussed throughout this paper we build our classroom management plans based on our past experiences, our knowledge, our professional learning and our very own personal reflection.
