Introduction For the past eleven years I have been working in the web designing and development field, specifically for colleges and universities. Beginning at Peirce College, while pursuing my undergraduate degree in information technology, and working as a work-study student on the college’s website, I was able to acquire experience and web development and design techniques that are used in a higher educational setting. After graduation from Peirce, I was employed as the web manager and eventually assistant director of web communications at Philadelphia University, where I continued to learn techniques specific for universities, such as how to design site that appeal to prospective students, how to manage different faculty, staff, and departments online needs, and how to build successful online promotional campaigns and initiatives. Now at Saint Joseph’s University, I am currently putting a lot of previously gain experience to work, learning more about being at a larger institution, but attainment more knowledge of business, and becoming more rounded, by working in the executive MBA program. With the experience I have from being at three different education institutions, that vary in size, popularity, and process from a web development standpoint, along with the business education I acquire from being in the EMBA program, I want to put them both to use building a web consulting firm that caters to the web development needs of educational institutions. The most significant benefit I got out writing this plan is the mission statement, I have never really thought about what my mission or purpose is professionally or personally and this process helped my create a mission that I am can confidently follow through my development, and the next ten years of my life. During the last decade, we’ve been to the top of the world—during the dot-com boom of the late 1990s—and back down again, when it all fell apart a few years later. But with the bad came the good: The Web forever changed the business world. The following small-business owners are shining examples of how Web-based technologies can be a businessperson’s best friend.
Since its comet-like boom in the nineties the internet has attracted myriads of companies to do business on this boundaryless media. And the boom does not seem to stop. eCommerceis a catchword, which stands for a whole branch of new types of businesses that mushroomed up in the last couple of years. Retailers, all sorts of companies, even law offices are using the web for their daily business. There seems to be no comparable other way to develop and exploit global markets. The internet is more and more used as a fast, innovative and cost-saving tool to gain and serve customers where they feel most comfortable and relaxed, namely right in their office or at home (Jonscher, 1999, p.204). In the following there are just three examples of companies, which base a significant fraction of their business on the web.
Describe what a successful, effective web presence means for a professional in your chosen field. What might a prospective employer look for online about you? What kinds of information and what qualities might they hope to find? And what might you be expected to compose online in order to advance in your profession?
The development and growth of the Worldwide Wide Web have had an enormous impact on several areas including government, business, and even education. The WEB facilitates the quick and easy exchange of information between millions of people. Due to the growing availability and use of computers in classrooms, many of these WEB users are students. This increase in use is due in part to programs such as the IBM Teacher Preparation Grant Schools. This program "aims to promote technology growth in classrooms and to assist teacher education programs in providing quality technology training" (Larsen, 2). Teachers use the WEB in the classroom in three ways: as a resource for teachers, as a resource for students, and as a mode for students to create resources on the Internet.
Web design is the method of making websites. It encompasses many different aspects, together with web page layout, content production, and graphic style. Whereas the terms internet design and internet development are typically used interchangeably, internet design is technically a set of the broader class of internet development. It is formed by using a language called HTML which contains the satisfied content and the Meta data of individual page and they also provide CSS for the web page which will appear in the browser.
The University of California Davis, in Davis, CA, has a businesslike appearance to its website. Their main objective is to get across the importance of academics. On a secondary page I found a link to Information and Educational Technology. On this page the user will find information on computer rooms, computing accounts, security, technical support and training.
Having a website is a necessity nowadays, especially for people who are in business. Having a website helps promote your company’s services, for consumers to view and research your products easily, and also because internet is universal, people worldwide could purchase your products. Aside from business purposes, a website could also be built for personal use. If you’re into blogging, you can have your own site to express everything you want or feel; a website could also be used to inform people. Due to technology’s fast evolution, creating a website is now a very simple task even for those who have no background in web designing, all you need is a working computer and an internet connection and you’re ready to create your very own site!

The most important task of developing and designing a web page is the gathering of information. You first need to brainstorm about what you would like the web page to consist of. Collect everything that you want to become part of the web page, from editorials and graphics to company information and history. It may be a good idea to get your hands on as much data as possible, and then decide what is to be used in the web page. Whatever material that you do not used may be discarded later. All information previously gathered is categorized in a hierarchy form from the most important to the least important.
When planning for our future it is important to have clear goals in mind and to understand the steps that need to be taken to achieve those goals. My long-term goal is to run my own counseling center and employee at least one other person. Some Skills I already possess that will allow me to succeed with this plan are my ability to relate to people and be consistent in following the steps needed, even though it will be a long and tedious process.
Web Design is the process of creating, making, and developing websites. It includes many different features such as webpage layout, webpage content, and also graphic designs. In general web design and web development work together, but the term web design is an actual category of web development. The main way of creating websites is building it from scratch using HTML language; which stands for Hypertext markup language. Web designers build websites using HTML tags that define the content of each page. The layout of the webpage and the appearance of all the elements will be built by using CSS; which stands for Cascading Style sheets. Therefore, all of the websites are being of combination of HTML and CSS files to define of how the page going to appear to the client or user. Many web designers prefer to build a web page starting from scratch by typing HTML and CSS codes, and others they prefer using a software for building and designing these webpages. Some of these soft wares to build and design websites are Dream Weaver which is mostly being used on MAC operating system or WordPress and Joomla which makes it easier for the web designer to design the webpage using the templates that these software already have listed, when the designer choose which template to use the software will automatically build the HTML and CSS files to create that template which also saves time and energy of writing those codes. In the following we going to point out the basics of web designing by using HTML and CSS files and show the steps to create HTML template, heading tags, HTML lists, create paragraphs and break tags, create CSS file, CSS rules, Font sizes, color, style, and adding images, hyperlinks, and CSS layouts.
