There are different sports of course. You have the team sports, basketball, football, track, etc and there are individual sports, golf. In just about any sport, athletes only play for a few years. But, when they are playing that sport, they must practice alot and you must also stay competitive. There practice hours are about or over forty hours a week, during season. During off season, not as much. On season or off season, they must be at the highest level of training. Athletes also have special diets to help stay fit. Even on windy and stormy days, you still have to have practice. On holidays you also have to have practice. Than to any sporting events, you will go on long bus rides or you can drive on your own (not with team). If you were to fly on plane, you would have to pay for it yourself. …show more content…

But to be a professional athlete you need to have a competitive mindset, an excellent hand-eye coordination, great motor skills and a high level of physical fitness. You would also have to deal with difficult physical/mental conditions, able to maintain a high level of concentration, have discipline while training, and competing in games. Another thing you need is extensive knowledge of the way the sport is played, the rules of the sport, regulations, and strategies. You would always need to maintain physical fitness through weight lifting, and running. They practice their sport in drills, scrimmages, and exhibition. You would also receive treatment for injuries or straining. Professional athletes have the potential to end their career any time if an injury happens at any time. The coach and scout (this was updated in 2012) get paid $28,360 a year. Fitness trainers and instructors get paid $31,720 a year. A professional athlete gets paid $43,350 a year.
