The idea of being on yearbook staff was very exciting to me when I was in seventh grade. I always knew that I would be a staffer. I applied to be on the yearbook staff in eighth grade, but my application got denied and I was in shock. Right then and there I wanted to give up, but I did not. I knew that if I didn't try to get on the high school yearbook staff, I would complete regret it. I decided to apply for a position my freshmen year and I was so overjoyed
Is adolescence really about fitting in or not standing out? Do you have any responsibility to those students who do not fit in? Do you hear that? Hush, and listen closely. Do you hear it now? The cries for help of the kids who don’t fit in with the crowd. The cries aren’t always loud. Sometimes they don’t make a sound. Stop and listen to them. Take responsibility for those kids and stand up for those kids who won’t stand up for themselves.
Hanging out with friends during this time is a good way to catch up with them and talk for a bit. We do have lunch time to talk, but it’s only 30 minutes and during that time people are trying to eat. You also never really get to see your friends outside of school because your too busy with other things like homework, hanging out with your family, or people may have other outside school activities that keep them busy.
Yearbook records the history of the school year. Its shows interesting and fun things students have done throughout the school year. Yearbook shows all the talented kids on the sports teams, Chorus, Band, Avid, Spanish, Art, and Technology. People outside
The main source of student made texts come with the many essays written, especially with ones like these where opinions are meant to be expressed. In many of the English classes, debates and essays are recorded that embody the student beliefs. One prime example is that of the “Scarlet Letter Essay” of our English 1 freshman class. Being one of the first debates, most students give it their all and let out many views on both the class and the school in general. Also, the Lincoln Charter Yearbook heavily embodies the spirit of many of the student s of LCS. It is able to show all of the faces of LCS, along with many activities everyone participates in and bonds through. These different genres provide significant insights into the general thoughts of LCS students and were really able to help me see the intentions and quarrels of the students as a single
School allows many opportunities to grow as a person, and show your personality. Within class I am always an active participant, I always add my input in discussion, and work to answers questions. School is something we all know and understand. Regardless of whether we wanted it or not, we have all passed through school. School is, first and foremost, a place designed for people to go and learn. It is a place to better yourself, to learn facts, discipline, to learn social and economic skills. But for all that school is intended for, people go for different reasons. Some are hardworking and academically minded, they go to learn, to set a good foundation for their future, with an aim of becoming successful and accomplished in their career. Others are carefree, going for the social side, to be popular, have lots of friends, and in the end just to have a good time. For others it can even be a place of safety, a place where they can get
You can get a jump on your future by knocking out some classes that you will need later in the future. You can start working on your degree and job plans for when you get older and become an adult. Yes, having your own high school teacher teaching you can be a huge plus, but it is also good to get use to what it will actually be like. Like Lydic said “are these students getting a real college education?” In my opinion I would have to say yes, that we are getting a real college education, but maybe not so much a college
Throughout the many trials and tribulations of the adolescent years teenagers try to find many different ways to express themselves and discover who they are. There are different forms of expression including music, art, fashion, and, of course, writing. Whether it is through a personal journal used to express private feelings, or through the high school publications such as the school newspaper or yearbook. These forms of expression give teens an outlet for creativity and a sense of accomplishment. They also teach time management skills such as meeting deadlines, and help develop a work-based environment with other. While these publications remain important to students, school authorities continually challenge them.
Throughout high school, my experience was very difficult. The past three years at Wise high school have been difficult because I have transitioned from a small school to a huge school. It seemed like staying to myself was easier. It cut out on drama and unnecessary interactions. This helped me in school because each individual person shows their culture and they express it vibrantly. Being passively social in school helps me realized that there lots of opinions and point of views. I tend to take in more than what I spit out but it's because I want to hear people out and understand where they are coming from. Throughout my art classes, the teachers help me express myself without talking. It challenges me to be more creative and imaginative.
“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself” (Unkown) High School is a place where many students are classified into different types of cliques. We all have seen different cliques throughout high school, and even in the movies. The different types of cliques in high school would be the popular girls, the jocks, the goths and the nerds. There’s also the thespians and the rockers. Each high school clique has a characteristic that makes their group unique compared to the many other cliques.
They were not from Freshmen, however. Some Sophomores and some Juniors complained that they received stickers by mistakened as Freshmen. Senior Claire Sehneider, who did not participate in this activity, shows frustrations to Seniors who sticker random people without recognizing who they are.
I recollect in ninth grade thinking that it'd be so cool to be on yearbook. Yearbook students knew which classes everybody was in, they knew which kids were into what extracurricular, and maybe above all, they knew everybody at school. From green beans to seniors to personnel,
The teachers of the school were very supportive, I loved them all. Being at school is very good in terms of dealing with different people. We were exposed very early to this world; where there are different attitudes and beliefs. I think having teachers with totally different minds has a role in our social intelligence development. I learned how to deal with people even if their beliefs, thoughts and styles do not meet mine.
