In this reflection I will be talking about two different character counts of my choice. The two pillars that I choose where caring and responsibility. The pillar caring is when you show specific emotion towards other people. Responsibility on the other hand, is when you do what your suppose to be doing, when you think before you act and consider consequences, and other similar things to these. The pillar caring has influenced my life because whenever me or my family see homeless people or people in need we always give them money or try to help them out. The pillar has also made me who I am today because I feel like helping people is something I enjoy doing now. The pillar responsibility has also influenced my life because whenever I
The four pillars are the backbones for the National Honor Society. Scholarship, leadership, service, and character all come together to form the standard of a National Honor Society member. Each pillar has its own importance, and the pillar of character is perhaps the most vital when determining the membership of the National Honor Society. Character in my words is when a person is a citizen, along with being caring, respectful, and responsible. I display character in a variety of fashions, which touch base up the four qualities of a character.
Character is often the setting stone on what a person is judged upon. For someone to have character, they must noticeably stand out, and do extraordinary tasks that a normal student would not usually do. From school activities to sports clubs, I myself carry unique characteristics that set me apart from other students.
I believe I have a high aptitude in each of these four pillars of the National I show great strength of character through my dedication to my own principles. I try to live my life honestly, showing integrity, remain open minded, stay positive, and respectful. Everyday I attempt to live by these values in the way I think and the way I act. These values remind of the kind of person I want to be and help me to lead a more centered life. Whether this is through something as simple as holding a door for someone or by always being honest, trustworthy, loyal.
My sixteen week class in English 111. I was really nervous about this class. Because English has never been my strong point. This class has hard, but fun all at the same time. I learn a lot from this class. Meanwhile, the first day of class you handed a paper with a question on it. “The first thing I want to say to you who are students is that you must not think of being here to receive an education; instead, you will do much better to think of being here to claim one.” Even though putting my all in what I have learned, claiming my education with hard work because using the skills of the meal plan, as we write to different audiences and learning to be a Critically thinker as I start becoming a critically-Literate Citizenship.
For me the experiences I gained from Service lead me to fully develop the other pillars. Those experiences I gained from Service opened up the way I viewed the world and my actions. The experiences allowed me to see what other people are going through, and it allowed me to empathize with the people I was helping out. The empathy and perspective I gained from Service, ultimately built my Character. I became more respectful and trustworthy
Scholarship, service, leadership, and character, the four pillars of National Honor’s Society, have exceedingly shaped my development. Each pillar has a significant meaning and they are highly important factors that every person should do their best to pursue. I will apply each of these pillars to my future goals by continuing to have the best scholarship. service, leadership, and character that I can.
helped to make me the person I am today, and I was able to look into the future
I believe respect and compassion, above all else, will support me in achieving my goals in life, because these two values alone, could help me to achieve my terminal values. Empathy and tolerance were the next in line, as these are essential to my success as a leader in a school, as a colleague, a friend and as a family member. Creativity leads to pleasure and innovation, which is key to my personal and professional success and happiness, but I did not feel was essential to my terminal values. Perseverance had to be a part of my instrumental values. I need to follow-through with the actions I take in order to demonstrate or live by the other 6 ...
In addition to being influenced by church and religion, I have also been influenced by my family. My parents have always been there for me and supported me in all I do. They encourage me in my schoolwork as well as my extra-curricular activities. They attend all my concerts and things I participate in including church activities. My grandparents have also influenced me in what I am today. My grandfather is a minister and has always encouraged me to do well and have high morals. They have always done special things such as taking me on trips to show me how much they love me. My sister has also helped me be the person I am today. She has been a role model to me in many things. She has encouraged me to do well in school because she excelled and was valedictorian of her class. She also has an outgoing personality and has been a role model socially.
1) the character must be good, 2) decorum, 3) the character must be true to life, and
Pillar 5: Virtue Virtues are guiding lights to help people through life’s long and winding roads. A moral compass is needed help people make decisions. Mistakes will be made along the way but allowing them to be a learning experience opens the doors to wisdom. To appreciate life’s virtues there must also be an understating of life’s vices.
Purpose: The purpose of this session was to set a framework for group members to realize that there are different stages of grieving and that the process can be complicated. Furthermore, during the session, it is hoped that they will also come to recognize that no two persons share the same path when grieving. However, there is still a common experience that some people share, which is the loss which can lead to feelings of low self-esteem. ‘This will be done through Impact therapy where they will be encouraged to be active, thinking, seeing and experiencing during the session activities’ (Jacobs Ed, Schimmel J. Christine 2013). Theme:
One can find caring practices in many aspects of human life. Usually parents care for their young children, and children care for their older parents, husbands and wives care for their spouses, etc. In the professional scope, usually healthcare professionals associated with care. The foundation of nursing practice is an idea of caring. “Caring is important for many reasons, but is considered crucial for quality healthcare” (Tanking, 2010, p.3). So, what does caring actually mean?
These four pillars give us notions and understanding about the spirituality of the Dominicans which they uphold to in everything that they do. Moreover, these pillars must be lived accordingly for them to be able to sustain their mission and work in preaching the Gospel. The first pillar of the Dominican Order is prayer. This is the central heart of their life and their way to be in a constant relationship with God. Through this, they are able to experience the empowerment of the Holy Spirit and know more about God. The prayer of the Dominican Order includes the Eucharist and Liturgy of the Hours. They also have a scheduled time to pray, meditate and study the Gospel as an essential part of their everyday
Compassion is my second trait because I hate to see people in pain mainly emotional. Any time I see someone in pain it causes me to consume their energy making me want to consult them so I can find a way for them to feel better. Nobody taught me about compassion it just a trait that I’ve learned on my own. I call myself the illegal therapist because I don’t legally have a license, but most of my friends come to me for advice about anything if it’s about issues within their relationship or if it family issues they came to me for help. I like helping people who are having issues within their relationship or are having family issues because I can learn from their personal experiences and use it for my own as well as give me a better understanding on how to read people better based on their
