Imagine yourself on a Friday and your just sitting in your desk staring at the clock waiting for the bell to ring, well Cris lived it. Cris has plans for the weekend today he's going to a friends house and tomorrow he is going to the mall and as a early Christmas present his parents gave him two hundred dollars to spend at the mall, he just cant talk for the weekend and then he heard this “The homework for the week will be a 5-10 thousand word essay on how The Happy Birthday song was made and it will count as a test grade.” In his mind he feels upset and realized his weekend is ruined. Another reason why homework should not be graded is its a waste of time. As a result students can not find time to do it. In fact a youtube video I watched said that students have other things to do when they are home like sports or a family event and I understand that “academics before athletics” but only 3% of students get an academic scholarship and only 2% get a athletics scholarship but 58% of students with a academic scholarship end up failing or dropping …show more content…

Students may not even do the homework and its less improvement for them. Homework can help bring your grade up, for example if you get a 75% on a test a 100 on a homework can help. Statistics have shown that students do not need graded homework to maintain good grades homework is just a practice of what you learned. out of 125 people surveyed by me over 80% said that homework should not be graded for various reasons. Homework can improve a students grade but also destroy it. Its true homework can help your grade but getting a bad grade on a test and getting a 100 on a homework is going to change nothing because test are worth much much more than

    I believe that to motivate students to do work, practice work needs to be worth more than 10% of a students’ grade. Ideally, I believe the grading scale should be closer to 75% knowledge, and 25% practice. I believe this would help students want to do their work because practice work is worth much more than 10%. If the students do not do any practice work, they can end up with a C, which in many cases is deemed average. Also, those who do their practice work well can use practice assignments to bring up bad test scores.
