If you are like most people, your commitment to exercise varies throughout your life. Sometimes working out is extremely important to you, while at other times it gets pushed to the back burner. An injury, a hectic work schedule or family obligations may force you to take a break from working-out. On the other hand, you may have just lost interest in staying fit all together.
Recently, I have been going through a period of not wanting to work out. I know all about the great health benefits and I have experienced first-hand the great results I can achieve when working out. Otherwise, you run the risk of injury or burnout. The following tips will help you ease back into a workout routine as easily as possible:
• Start By Loosening Up. If you have not worked out in a while, chances are your flexibility is not as great as it used to be. Unfortunately, poor flexibility can increase your chances of injury. To minimize the risk of damaging your body, you should begin by taking a week or two to stretch your muscles and be limber again. The best way to do this is by trying out a beginner yoga class or practicing gentle yoga at home with online videos.

The easiest way to do this is by taking walks or gentle bike rides several times a week. This will get your body moving and blood pumping again, helping to make the transition into a full-blown workout a bit easier on your
When it comes down to it everyone ends up working out because it becomes a part of their everyday life style and they enjoy doing it. A person who is slightly overweight would get into the gym for weight loss and quickly see that there are many other people around working towards the same goal. Progress becomes easier when encouragement is received from others. Whether it is said or not everyone has their own motive to go to the gym, that easily separates people in this discourse community. However, it also brings unity to their own group.
When completing an exercise a person is expecting results that day, during or post workout. Training is a long-term process that creates noticeable and physical results over a span of weeks, even months and years. Training involves planning with preparation for the training duration and progress towards a goal. The desire to win and be better than the competition is essentially important for professional and collegiate athletes. These athletes take training and preparation for a competition to a new level of determination and commitment. For the last two years, I have been working with the University of Oklahoma’s softball team as their student athletic trainer. I attend every practice, workout, and all of their games. As the student athletic trainer, I help with assessing their injuries, with treatment and rehabilitation of their injuries as well as injury prevention. I have watched these women go through some strenuous workouts and have seen their improvements. Some of the girls have asked about taking CrossFit classes or other workout programs during winter and summer breaks. Our strength coach advised against taking the CrossFit classes that he has not specifically approved. He
There are many ways you can prevent injuries from happening before they do occur. Make sure you lift the right amount of weight to ensure that your body won’t wear down or you won’t injure yourself. Lifting more than you need to will only make your body worse. Using poor form can get you hurt quicker and easier than any other way. Make sure that you are using the correct form even if that means hiring a trainer or having a spotter. Workouts that you know can help because you will know the correct position. Workouts without machinery and weights have a lesser risk of hurting you. Cassidy says, “Years of intense workouts take a toll on your body..... Cartilage wears down and muscles, tendons, and ligaments can become less limber” (1).
As soon as the alarm sounds you can begin the day with a healthy start. Before getting out of bed do a few stretches to warm up your muscles and improve your range of motion. For example, try the “back flying” exercise. You’ll not only stretch the muscles in your torso and feel your spine elongate, but you'll also feel this position bring length to your arms, legs, neck, chest, and shoulders. Sit in the middle of your bed with your legs extended in front of you. Slowly lower your torso down so that your head is hanging off the bed. Extend your arms to the floor, and relax your body. Allow gravity to deepen the stretch. Hold this position for 30 seconds, then bend your knees and put your hands behind your head to sit up. This can be key to getting through the day pain-free.
Working out doesn't have to start out as a full one hundred percent full body workout but as small increments of workouts and to build up the number of workouts you do and spend small bits of time thinking about why you are actually doing it rather than thinking of an excuse. You might think, “But John I am happy sitting and being
Sometimes these dramatic changes in our workout programs (such as increasing volume or intensity) can put too much of a shock on the body. Especially if you see these pro athletes or bodybuilders crazy hard workouts, just because they do it does not mean that it’s right for you. When we are using high rep or intensity sets multiple days a week on the same muscle groups such as drop sets, failure sets and compound sets. This can diminish your energy and take longer for your body to
People become exercise addicts because they are afraid of what their bodies may look like after they have missed a workout. They believe they might lose muscle mass or gain a pound or two. Some feel pressured about society’s value of thinness and the influences the media has on attractiveness, or they just want to reap the health benefits in the long haul. Exercise is not just a way to stay fit and in shape. Instead, it becomes an unhealthy addiction. The ironic results is that activity should be beneficial, keeping fit, and trim often winds up causing serious stress to both mind and body.

It gives you a boost of energy after, making you feel like you can conquer the world, or to just do your homework.
There are many people out there that feel that exercise has no way of helping their mental state. They feel that if they are depressed about a certain situation there is nothing that can help them or they feel that if they are depressed only a doctor or prescribed medicine can better their situations. Others do not know that exercise is a great way to trigger interest in sex or others do not want to believe that exercise directly affects your sex life. Many people are very ignorant when it comes to exercising. Some are so self-content that they are blinded and do not recognize when they actually do need the exercise. The feel like if they are in the skin that they are in then why should they have to change anything about themselves. Exercise to some people is like the worst thing either because they are too lazy to actually put in the time and hard work to see the change or they just do not believe in exercising either way these kinds of people are missing a very important factor of bettering their life in
Today, millions of people have discovered the benefits of stretching. Over the last years, studies have shown that people that live these active lives live fuller lives. In fact, studies show that a lack of physical activity directly relates to many major illnesses and death. Before the Industrial Revolution, people actually had to work hard to get their needed amount of movement. After the Revolution, it became a different story. When I started the first week of my exercise program, I have a tough time completing all of the workouts and an even harder time staying motivated. By the time I started my seventh exercise of the day I was winded and on the verge of giving up and calling it a day. I soon realized that the reason why it was so hard for me to complete my exercise regimen is because I was not physically fit. Although I feel as if I am at a perfect weight, my weight is not as relevant to my health as I had previously thought it was. It was then that I decided I would commit to my exercise program to improve my overall health.
